Chapter 493: Chapter 493: Going to School

The teacher’s words stunned Han Xiaorui and the others.

On second thought, it made sense.

Expert Wang had already said that Pingping, An’an, and Cai Wenjun were normal now.

They might not be geniuses, but they certainly weren’t behind.

Han Xiaorui bowed to the teacher. "Thank you so much, Teacher Wen. We were wrong. We kept thinking of them as different from other children, but they’ve actually caught up. They’re just like normal kids now."

Teacher Wen nodded and smiled. "That’s right. They were indeed delayed before, but these past three years have been crucial. You’ve helped them catch up completely. Look at them—are they any different from the other children?"

"Especially when it comes to raising their hands to answer questions in class, Pingping, An’an, and Cai Wenjun are all very proactive. They raise their hands whether they know the answer or not. If they get it right, I encourage them. If they get it wrong, it’s no big deal; I just tell them the correct answer."

"So you tell me, what’s so different about them? What’s not good enough? I can tell you unequivocally that they are doing very well. So from now on, entrust your children to the school. We teachers will help them integrate into the small community of the classroom, allowing them to learn social rules and interpersonal skills while they study."

Han Xiaorui was grateful. "Thank you."

"You can all go home now. There’s no need to worry." Teacher Wen ushered them away. With all the parents hanging around, it was difficult for them to teach.

Yao Yulan chuckled lightly. "See? The teacher I arranged for you is good, isn’t she?"

Liang Xiaoyu quickly replied, "Yes, she’s amazing. Truly."

Teacher Wen’s teaching skills were clearly top-notch, and you could also see how much she cared for each and every student.

This Teacher Wen had also been Yang Minmin’s teacher back in the day. She was forty-five this year.

She had graduated from a proper teacher’s college and was part of the last graduating class before the college entrance exams were suspended.

She had been in elementary education her entire career and was an expert in the field.

Yang Minmin herself was a very bright child with excellent grades and a solid moral compass.

Her approach to considering problems and her methods for solving them were particularly outstanding.

This was definitely a credit to her teacher’s guidance.

For instance, when Yang Minmin was kidnapped, she remembered what her teacher had told her: when you encounter a problem, stay calm, stall for time, conserve your energy, and wait for the police to rescue you.

Most children in such a dangerous situation would cry and panic.

Some kidnappers or criminals, worried about being exposed, would very likely resort to murder.

Now, Teacher Wen’s feedback was like a calming pill for Han Xiaorui and Liang Xiaoyu.

Yao Yulan smiled and said, "Since you think she’s good, then you can relax! A class of over forty students isn’t that many!"

"Even if they roughhouse a bit, there are limits. The teachers’ office is close by, and they’ll keep an eye on things. Besides, Pingping, An’an, and Wenjun are in the same class. If one of them gets bullied, can’t the three of them stick up for each other?"

"Teacher Wen was right. Don’t think of your children as too simple or naive. As long as you’re a person, you have to integrate into society and build relationships. The relationships at school are manageable. If they can’t even handle this, won’t they just get bullied more out in the real world?"

"Children need to grow, and independent growth is especially important. If you shield them from every storm, they’ll be like hothouse flowers, unable to withstand the wind and rain outside."

Han Xiaorui nodded emphatically. "You’re right! Yulan, I’m entrusting my children to the school!"

Yao Yulan waved her hand. "Hurry up and go home! Go take care of your own business. When school gets out, if you don’t have time to pick them up, I’ll take them home for you."

Ye Feng quickly replied, "Someone will be here! We’ll have time!"

With so many people in their two families, how could they possibly not have time to pick up the children?

On the way back from the school, Liang Xiaoyu let out a long sigh of relief. "Xiao Rui, I’ve never felt as relieved as I do today! Wenjun has always been a huge weight on my heart!"

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui shook her head with a wry smile. "You only have one weight on your heart, Wenjun. I have two—Pingping and An’an!"

"But both Teacher Wen and Yulan are right. Letting them get a normal education at school, where everything is manageable, is the best way."

Yang Zhigang didn’t take Pingping and An’an to school; he was taking Yang Shunshun to kindergarten.

Time flew by. Zhang Lili and Yang Jianming’s daughter, Yang Shunshun, was three years old this year.

She was attending Jinshan Bay Kindergarten along with a few other children of the same age from the village.

Pingping and An’an had inherited the best features of Han Xiaorui and Yang Jianming; they were tall and slender with delicate features and fair skin.

A woman like Zhang Lili, who had caught Yang Jianming’s eye, was naturally not ugly either. She was quite pretty, and their daughter, Yang Shunshun, had also inherited their best traits and was very beautiful.

Two-year-old Yang Lili, who was of mixed Chinese and American descent, had dark brown hair and big eyes. She looked just like a doll, having also inherited the best genes from her parents.

Four children, three mothers, and one unreliable father.

However, the four sisters, under the guidance of their big sister Yang Minmin, had a very good relationship.

In the evening, after school let out, Yang Zhigang picked up his granddaughter Yang Shunshun from kindergarten and then went to the elementary school gate to wait for Yang Pingping and Yang An’an.

Watching his granddaughters walk out of the school in a line, Yang Zhigang grinned so widely his eyes nearly disappeared.

He pulled lollipops out of his pocket for Pingping and An’an, and he made sure to have one for Cai Wenjun, too.

"Grandpa! Grandpa!" they chirped, calling out to him while eating their lollipops, their clear voices like the Calabash Brothers from the cartoons.

Yang Zhigang smiled. "Hold hands, let’s go together!"

When Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng arrived, they saw Yang Zhigang as well.

"Before, Uncle Yang was furious about Yang Jianming sending the children back, but look at him now. He’s so happy!"

Ye Feng smiled. "It’s not that Uncle Yang dislikes children. He was angry because Yang Jianming is such an unfit and irresponsible father!"

"We haven’t heard any news about Yang Jianming for so long. He must be doing pretty well for himself in the United States these past two years!"

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui quickly spat a few times. "Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey! Don’t jinx it! Why did you have to bring him up? You know what they say—speak of the devil! Every time he comes back, Uncle Yang gets so angry he practically breathes fire."

Ye Feng raised an eyebrow. "Weren’t you the one who just brought him up? I’m just curious!"

In the past, he had worried that Han Xiaorui wasn’t over Yang Jianming, but after being together for two years, Ye Feng was completely certain that she had long since moved on and that her heart belonged only to him.

That was why he could bring up Yang Jianming so casually.

Han Xiaorui pursed her lips, hiding a smile. "Alright, Uncle Yang is coming over. Let’s not talk about that unlucky person, or Uncle Yang will get angry again if he overhears."

But there is always that one-in-a-million chance.

They had just gotten home with the children when someone came to give Han Xiaorui a tip.

Zhang Xiufang was back. And she had returned in an urn.
