Chapter 425: Chapter 425: As Far Away as Possible

Yang Jianguo was exasperated and pointed to his head. "Xiao Rui, hurry up and kick these lunatics out, will you? I think these devils have shit for brains."

"We’d be the real fools if we did what they’re asking. So what if they’re more advanced? It’s just an ocean park and a water park. We can build our own atomic bombs—I refuse to believe we can’t build an ocean park and a water park."

Han Xiaorui was just as exasperated, speechless at the audacity of these Japanese. "Kawamoto Kenta, you can stop dreaming. I’m formally informing you now: we have no basis for cooperation. Let’s call the whole thing off."

"Now, even if you offered to design the water park and ocean park for me, I wouldn’t hire you. I don’t just despise your attitude—I’m deeply suspicious of your motives."

The translator looked awkward. "If I translate it that way, will there be any chance of cooperation?"

Han Xiaorui waved the document in her hand. "Look at this. They also want to be responsible for the marine surveying and mapping of the Shencheng region. What for? Are they preparing for another invasion?"

"Tell them to get the hell out and stay out. I’m done with them. I would rather not build the water park and ocean park at all than associate with people and a team who have such ulterior motives."

She said this in Chinese.

After a moment of deliberation, the translator relayed her words.

Kawamoto Kenta looked embarrassed. They did, in fact, have ulterior motives.

Not only did they want a controlling stake, but they also intended to provide "necessary assistance" to certain departments.

"We’re here to cooperate, not to argue. How about this? We won’t take the majority share. Give us 40% of the equity. That should be acceptable, shouldn’t it?"

This time, Han Xiaorui didn’t need the translator and replied directly, "Get the hell out of my sight. Where’s security? Get these people out of here. If they won’t go, release the dogs."

"You’ll regret this. Even without you, we can still secure this project. After all, we’re a Japanese-funded enterprise, and you people are desperate for our investment," Kawamoto Kenta said smugly. The only reason they were seeking a partner was that the investment was too large to handle alone.

’All they had to do was use their advanced design concepts and technology to secure a dominant position.’

"Heh, be my guest. We’ll see who’s tougher—the invading dragon or the local serpent." Han Xiaorui sneered, her eyes glinting with ridicule.

’Agh, maybe getting so angry just now started the labor.’

Han Xiaorui clutched her belly with both hands. "I... Brother Jianguo, I think I’m going into labor! Get me to the hospital, quickly!"

"And as for you all, get the hell out! If you don’t leave right now, I’m calling the police and telling them you harassed a pregnant woman and tried to kill her!"

The translator and the dozen or so members of the Japanese team were so frightened they stumbled backward, scrambled into their cars, and fled.

They were arrogant and greedy, but they weren’t stupid.

If something happened to Han Xiaorui, none of them would be able to walk away unscathed.

Yang Jianguo was startled, too. The image of his wife, Wu Cuicui, giving birth to Yang Minmin flashed through his mind. "Okay... Xiangnan, bring the car around, quickly!"

Wu Yao was startled as well. "I’m coming with you."

Yang Jianguo shook his head. "You should hurry home, grab all of Xiao Rui’s things, and head straight to the hospital."

Han Xiaorui’s face was scrunched up in pain. "Wu Yao, do as Brother Jianguo says. Go get the maternity bag we already have packed. And, right, tell Wu Jiao to look after Pingping and An’an."

"Okay, Sister Xiao Rui, I’ll go get your things now." Once Wu Yao saw Han Xiaorui get into the car, with Yang Jianguo taking her to the hospital, she immediately headed home.

Wu Yao grabbed the maternity bag and some money, then wheeled her motorcycle out and left.

Fortunately, they were only contractions; her water hadn’t broken. Han Xiaorui breathed a sigh of relief and had Yang Jianguo take her to the city hospital.

That was where she had her prenatal check-ups and where she was registered as a patient.

Upon arriving at the hospital, doctors and nurses whisked Han Xiaorui off to the delivery room while Yang Jianguo went to handle the payment.

When Wu Yao arrived at the hospital, she called Ye Feng.

Ye Feng was in the middle of a meeting when he got the message from his assistant. He ended the conference immediately.

He burst into his grandfather’s office. "Grandpa, can you watch over things at the company? I have to get to the hospital—Xiao Rui’s in labor!"

Mr. Xu was pleasantly surprised by the news. "Then you must go at once. Even with modern medicine, childbirth is painful, and she’ll be vulnerable. You need to be by her side."

"I’ll call your grandmother and your aunt and tell them to go see Xiao Rui."

Ye Feng shook his head. "Auntie is pregnant, and Grandma just got over a cold. Let them rest at home. As long as they’re doing well, it’s actually a relief for me!"

Mr. Xu nodded. "You have a point. Make sure you tell Xiao Rui later so she doesn’t worry. I’ll head to the hospital to see her after I’m done here!"

"Okay!" Ye Feng agreed. He handed his work over to his assistant and rushed to the hospital.

Han Xiaorui was still experiencing contractions. After a thorough examination, the doctor determined that both she and the babies were doing very well.

Her cervix was dilating quickly; she would likely give birth in about half an hour.

Even more fortunately, although she was carrying twins, one baby’s head had already engaged in the pelvis, which meant a quick delivery was possible.

The staff had prepared two plans: if the baby’s position was not right and the conditions for a natural birth weren’t met, they would perform a cesarean section.

If the conditions were right, they would proceed with a natural birth, which would avoid an incision and allow for a quicker recovery.

Due to the medical limitations of the era, wound closure techniques were not yet perfected.

Ye Feng burst in and grasped Han Xiaorui’s hand. "Xiao Rui, don’t be afraid! I’m right here with you!"

Seeing him, Han Xiaorui reached up to wipe the sweat from his forehead. A wave of pain had just subsided. "I’m okay. Don’t worry about me!"

"It’s not your due date yet, is it? Why did labor start so suddenly?" Ye Feng asked, hoping to distract her.

The question did the trick. Her attention was diverted, and the pain didn’t seem as intense. She recounted the events of the afternoon to Ye Feng.

Ye Feng was taken aback. "No wonder Kuno Hiroo said they would be difficult to deal with. So this is the situation! How disgusting."

"But since they aren’t negotiating in good faith, there’s no reason to work with them. We can partner with companies from Europe and America. If their prices are too high, we’ll just build it ourselves."

"Our country can handle incredibly complex, cutting-edge engineering projects. As long as we’re willing to spend the money, how hard could a water park and an ocean park be?"

Han Xiaorui nodded. "Our designs might not be as novel or aesthetically pleasing, but their safety would be absolutely guaranteed."

"As for the aesthetics, I can send people around the world to take pictures of other theme parks. We can just copy what they’ve done. It’ll be fine."

Ye Feng smiled. "Exactly! We can do it. Don’t be angry anymore. Let’s just wait until after the babies are born to talk about it."

"Agh!" Han Xiaorui cried out. "It hurts! It really, really hurts!"

Ye Feng grew tense too, his scalp tingling with anxiety. "If it hurts, scream. Don’t hold it back! After these two, we’re done. We’ll have our four kids, and we’ll just focus on taking good care of them and raising them right."
