Chapter 413: Chapter 413: A Big Order

Yang Jianguo went to Japan for an ornamental fish competition and won first place.

He then toured various places to conduct research and has only now returned with his team.

"Xiao Rui, I’ve come to a realization," Yang Jianguo replied. "The Japanese admiration for ornamental fish, especially Fengshui Fish, is beyond anything we could have imagined. They’re even more superstitious than we are. Oh, and South Korea too. Their national flag is even based on our yin-yang symbol and trigrams. They were also hounding me with questions about our ornamental fish. I showed one of them around Mr. Kuno’s ornamental fish shop in Japan, and now he wants to place an order with us."

Han Xiaorui blinked. "It seems we haven’t established diplomatic relations with South Korea, so we can’t trade with them, right?"

Yang Jianguo nodded. "That’s right, we can’t trade directly. However, they want to go through a company in Hong Kong to broker the deal. I don’t know much about that, so I’ll have to ask Yu Zhenxing about it later."

Han Xiaorui smiled. "Congratulations, Brother Jianguo. It must have been a tough trip. What did you think of being abroad?"

Yang Jianguo thought for a moment before answering, "Japan is certainly more developed than our country, but their people seem a bit too repressed. The food there didn’t suit my palate; the food back home is still the best. It’s fine for an occasional business trip, but I was there for so long this time that I lost nearly nine pounds."

"This trip was very fruitful. I got contact information for a lot of clients. They’ll be coming to Hua Country in the future to visit our farm. All in all, our business is only going to get better and better."

"Thank you for your hard work, Brother Jianguo," Han Xiaorui said gratefully. "The Jinshan Bay Ornamental Fish Farm owes so much to you."

Yang Jianguo smiled. "It’s what I should do. By the way, about those villas, I’m going to pick a large one and plan to move in later. I’ll have Uncle Yang live with us. What about you? Are you planning to move?"

Han Xiaorui waved her hand. "I’m fine here; I don’t need to move. It’s close to the police station and the docks."

"We can’t move over right away either. The place still needs to be renovated," Yang Jianguo said with a laugh. "It’s close to the village, so getting back and forth is convenient, and most importantly, the house is big enough."

Han Xiaorui nodded. "That’s right. With the house you live in now, there’s no need to build another one. The plot of land is a bit small. Do you think it will be possible to swap the residential land plots later to put your and Uncle Yang’s old houses together?"

Yang Jianguo chuckled. "The village said they’re going to make unified arrangements to build two-story houses. But nothing has been approved yet, so who knows? Still, when it comes to houses, the more the better. Even if we don’t live in them, we can always rent them out."

"The shop your Sister Cuicui bought a while ago is bringing in a decent amount of rent every month. Ten years of rent will be enough to cover the purchase price. I also heard another area is slated for demolition, and they’ll be giving out new houses in compensation. We have a lot of kids at home, so I need to save up more properties to give to the girls as their dowries in the future."

Although his cousin Yang Jianming was unreliable, their home was now much livelier with the addition of Yang Shunshun and Yang Lili, making for three daughters in total.

After coming to terms with it, Yang Jianguo was quite happy. Now, whenever he finished his work outside, all he wanted was to go home and play with the children.

Han Xiaorui completely agreed on this point. "I’m preparing, too. I have four children, so I have to build up a family foundation for them. That way, whether they inherit the family business or pursue their own hobbies, they’ll have a solid financial footing."

Only after briefing Han Xiaorui on his business trip did Yang Jianguo head home.

Unexpectedly, that afternoon, the Jinshan Bay Ornamental Fish Farm received a huge order.

It was from a trading company in Hong Kong.

Yu Zhenxing made some calls to investigate and found that the end customer was the client they had met from South Korea.

South Korea’s passion for ornamental fish was no less than Japan’s.

The order was for a full three million US dollars. Liu Xiangnan called Han Xiaorui and Yang Jianguo.

Yu Zhenxing had already signed the contract with the Hong Kong company, and a deposit of one and a half million US dollars had already arrived.

"The South Koreans love tropical ornamental fish, both freshwater and saltwater. They also like koi, as well as butterfly-tail and other types of goldfish. We have to be extremely careful during shipping."

Han Xiaorui chuckled. "We’re signing the order with the Hong Kong company, but we’ll ship the goods directly from Shencheng to South Korea by sea. It won’t take long, so I guarantee we can fulfill it. After all, we’ve had no problem shipping our ornamental fish by sea all the way to North America."

Hearing this, Yu Zhenxing breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s good. This is a major client. We have to hold on to them."

"Absolutely," Han Xiaorui agreed. "The farm has already expanded its operations. Our regular customers’ order volumes are stable, and we place great importance on this new South Korean client we’ve developed."

They didn’t even need to order more than three times a year to bring in nearly ten million US dollars.

The total order volume for this year could reach fifty million US dollars.

In the 1980s, an amount of foreign currency like that made them the darling of Shencheng.

Most importantly, it earned a lot of foreign currency without consuming many resources, making it a high-value-added industry.

They also had distributors in major cities within the country now.

Business was blooming, both at home and abroad.

Because of all this, the Jinshan Bay Ornamental Fish Farm was named a Municipal Outstanding Enterprise.

Han Xiaorui was supposed to be the one to accept the award, but since she was pregnant, she said, "Brother Jianguo, you go."

Yang Jianguo gave an embarrassed smile. "Wouldn’t that be inappropriate?"

"What’s there to be embarrassed about?" Han Xiaorui laughed. "We’re all family here. How can I go with this big belly? From now on, you should be the one to attend these kinds of social events. I have too much on my plate as it is; even if I weren’t pregnant, I couldn’t handle it all."

Seeing Han Xiaorui insist, Yang Jianguo finally smiled. "Alright then, I’ll go accept the praise."

"Go, you should. For Jinshan Bay’s future development, we’ll need to deal with the higher-ups often," Han Xiaorui encouraged. "The more people you know, the more paths open up to us. We can lead Jinshan Bay to even greater success."

And so, Yang Jianguo went to accept the award the next day, and a television crew even came to interview him.

That evening, the whole family crowded together around the television to watch the news.

There was a segment about the Jinshan Bay Farm, featuring Yang Jianguo speaking confidently to the camera.

The Jinshan Bay Farm had clearly become a well-known enterprise in Shencheng.

Perhaps this export volume wouldn’t be considered much in the future, but for the government right now, over fifty million US dollars a year was a substantial amount of foreign currency.

Many people envied the Jinshan Bay Farm for making so much money, but while Han Xiaorui earned a lot, she also spent a lot.

After the foreign currency was converted to RMB and deposited into the account, it was soon allocated. After deducting costs, paying worker salaries and bonuses, and distributing dividends, all the remaining money was transferred to the investment company’s name.

After all, such a massive project needed to be built.

If the funds weren’t in place, construction would have to stop.

Some banks came to offer loans, and Han Xiaorui took out some, but she still primarily relied on her own capital.

Thanks to Han Xiaorui’s investments, the entire Jinshan Bay area was becoming more and more prosperous. As long as you weren’t lazy, every household was making money.

Before, when Han Xiaorui was making one or two million, they were envious and jealous.

Now that Han Xiaorui’s ornamental fish farm was earning hundreds of millions of RMB, there was only admiration, no jealousy.

The gap was simply too vast.

Han Xiaorui got rich herself, but she also helped those around her make money and increase their income.

Whether it was the village committee or the ordinary people of Jinshan Bay, everyone supported Han Xiaorui, laying a solid foundation for her next big move.
