Chapter 383: Grandma Xu’s Request
Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Grandma Xu’s Request
"My puppy."
"Mine!"
"Don’t you fight me for it."
"You’re mean, trying to take it from me!"
"Mommy, I want it too, I want it too!"
...
Seeing that the children were about to start fighting, Han Xiaorui scooped the little Pekingese up into her arms.
"Everyone, stop fighting. This puppy is from the police dog base. I’m just letting you look at it, it’s not for you."
Han Xiaoqing and Ye Feng each held a daughter, pulling them apart.
Liang Xiaoyu, not knowing whether to laugh or cry, grabbed her son. "Wenjun, it’s not ours. We can’t have it."
"Mommy, I want the puppy! I want the puppy!" Cai Wenjun wailed, refusing to give up.
The little dog was just too adorable.
Pingping and An’an were crying too. Pingping cried on her father’s shoulder, while An’an cried in her aunt’s arms.
Mr. Wang was stunned. He had brought the little Pekingese to amuse the children, not expecting to make all three of them cry so miserably.
"I’m sorry, that was thoughtless of me. Wait a few days, and I’ll have two more Pekingese sent over. Then you can each have one."
Hearing this, Han Xiaorui waved her hand in refusal. "There’s no need."
"Yes, there is! Yes, there is!" Even while crying, Pingping and An’an hadn’t forgotten to eavesdrop.
They had heard that the man was going to bring more, so of course they wanted them.
While Ye Feng felt his heart ache at the sound of his daughters’ crying, Han Xiaoqing was focused on her two nieces’ reactions.
Their emotional expressions were very precise, as were their demands. They could even accurately process external information.
She hadn’t seen them in just half a month, but Pingping and An’an had progressed even faster than she’d expected.
’Perhaps the stimulation from the new environment and objects is what’s triggering Pingping and An’an’s emotions.’
Han Xiaorui didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Mr. Wang, let’s leave this one here for now. You can get me two more, and I’ll pay you for them."
Mr. Wang waved his hand. "No need. These were a gift from a friend."
"If you won’t take money, I won’t accept them," Han Xiaorui said with a smile. "Since it’s an official organization, let’s do things by the book. I’ll pay the market price, not a penny less. Otherwise, I’ll just buy them elsewhere."
"Alright, Mr. Han." Mr. Wang agreed.
The little Pekingese was left at the police dog base. They would take all three puppies back together in a few days; otherwise, the three children would fight over the one.
The three children came out of the police dog base sniffling and sobbing, their eyes red as they stared longingly at the gate.
In the end, Han Xiaoqing had to buy them three ice creams to pacify them.
Liang Xiaoyu chuckled. "No wonder you always buy two of everything. If they’re not identical, these two sisters will start squabbling."
"Squabbling? They’ll start a full-blown fight!" Han Xiaorui said, exasperated. "They’re good sisters most of the time, but when they argue, they can be really fierce."
Liang Xiaoyu patted Cai Wenjun’s back. "And this little rascal just had to join in on the commotion. What a little troublemaker."
Hearing this, Han Xiaorui laughed too. "All kids are like that. They only have a strong bond because they bicker and play-fight. Xiao Jing and I used to argue when we were little, too!"
Han Xiaoqing nodded with a smile. "That’s right. Every time we fought and I cried, my sister would go pick wild berries for me, and she’d be my good big sister again."
After eating their ice cream, they stopped crying and fussing.
In the afternoon, the police dog breeding base delivered all the raw materials on Han Xiaorui’s list to the feed production workshop at the ornamental fish farm.
The old master technician was quite experienced by now. Following the process Han Xiaorui had laid out, he mixed the ingredients in different ratios to create a dog food specially formulated for police dogs.
As soon as the dog food was produced, Mr. Wang and his men came to pick it up that very night.
Han Xiaorui was in no hurry, but Mr. Wang was anxious.
Not only was the Shencheng public security system applying pressure, but the Ministry of Public Security itself had also specifically requested results.
They were providing money, personnel, and resources with only one goal: to train outstanding police dogs.
That very evening, they fed the police dogs according to Han Xiaorui’s instructions.
Although the new food didn’t smell as good as their traditional feed, the police dogs didn’t reject it.
There were no immediate, visible effects, but Mr. Wang had great confidence in Han Xiaorui.
Having just seen Heizi and Dahuang at Jinshan Bay, Mr. Wang was incredibly envious and really wanted to snatch them away.
However, he also knew that Heizi and Dahuang were extremely loyal and would never leave with him.
"Mr. Han, do you have any other instructions?" Mr. Wang asked before he left.
Han Xiaorui shook her head. "No, that’s all. Just feed them according to the manual. The handlers are experienced; they can continue training the dogs. I’ll visit often in the future."
"Alright then. I’ll head back. If anything comes up, just give me a call." Mr. Wang agreed, then hurried back.
The next day, Han Xiaoqing went out shopping with her classmates.
Meanwhile, Han Xiaorui took Pingping and An’an back to the Xu family home with Ye Feng.
When Old Madam Xu saw Han Xiaorui, she grinned from ear to ear. "Xiao Rui, how have you been feeling lately? It’s the closed fishing season now, so you don’t have to go out to sea. You should stay in the city for a few more days."
Han Xiaorui gestured toward Pingping and An’an. "They still have school. We’ll definitely come stay once summer vacation starts. They’re building a house next to ours, so Grandma and Grandpa can come stay there to escape the summer heat. It’s much cooler by the sea than in the city during summer."
Old Madam Xu nodded. "Alright. I’ll go to Jinshan Bay to be with you all then. That’ll save you from running back and forth."
"How is Uncle now? Has he recovered?" Han Xiaorui asked. Although she had only met her maternal uncle from the Xu family twice, she was very grateful for the expensive yacht he had gifted her.
Old Madam Xu sighed. "He’s recovered, but when I urge him to find a wife and have children, he doesn’t listen at all. It’s a classic case of ’once the wound heals, the pain is forgotten.’ But let’s not talk about him. Let’s talk about something serious. Actually, if you hadn’t come today, I would have gone to see you tomorrow or the day after to ask for your advice."
"Huh?" Han Xiaorui was taken aback, not understanding. "Grandma, please, just say whatever is on your mind."
Old Madam Xu looked a bit awkward and troubled. "Well, it’s like this... your young aunt has started dating someone recently."
"Dating is a good thing. What’s his background? Are you so troubled because of his status?" Han Xiaorui didn’t get it. They had lived abroad; their thinking should be more open-minded than hers.
Old Madam Xu shook her head. "He’s already married. And he’s a French man. I suspect he’s just having a fleeting affair with your young aunt, or he has ulterior motives."
"That..." Han Xiaorui was stunned. ’Based on what I know of Xu Yingying, she’s not the type of person who can’t tell right from wrong!’
"You don’t believe it either, do you? I don’t want to believe it, but that man is very handsome. I’m worried your young aunt has been swept off her feet," Old Madam Xu said in a low voice. "I also found out that he’s only staying in Shencheng for half a year and will be leaving in another two months. What’s the point of being in a relationship with someone like that?"
Han Xiaorui nodded. "Grandma, I don’t believe my aunt would be so foolish. Grandma, please don’t worry. Let me talk to my aunt first, and then I’ll get back to you, okay?"
Old Madam Xu’s eyes showed a hint of apology. "I know you must think I shouldn’t be bothering you with these problems. But I’ve tried everything, from reasoning with her to scolding her, and your young aunt still won’t listen."
