Although Han Xiaorui would occasionally curse Yang Jianming, she never did so in front of the children. She always made sure to tell Pingping and An’an the truth: that their grandfather loved them.

Affection is a two-way street, and that includes family.

Yang Zhigang loved and protected his two granddaughters without reservation. He deserved to be loved in return.

Han Xiaorui never took Yang Zhigang’s love for Pingping and An’an for granted. She knew that family bonds could only be sustained through mutual expressions of affection.

Pingping and An’an were having a happy and peaceful childhood. So what if their father wasn’t around?

They had a mother, a grandfather, a stepfather, and so many other relatives and friends. Their lives were not short on love.

After breakfast, Yang Zhigang walked his granddaughters to school before going to run his own errands.

Wu Jiao was at the kindergarten, tasked with protecting Pingping and An’an.

Although there were security guards, Han Xiaorui didn’t dare to let her guard down.

Meanwhile, the public security department worked fast, and the case was quickly settled.

Rather than focusing on severe punishments for the culprits, the police were more interested in Heizi and Dahuang.

Those two dogs were just too fierce!

The two dogs usually weren’t leashed, but they had never harmed anyone.

But the previous night, Dahuang and Heizi had given everyone a vivid lesson. They weren’t just good-tempered pets; they were incredibly ferocious.

Good news came from Yunnan as well. The police dogs on loan there had once again performed meritorious service several times over. Not only had they discovered drug labs, but during a hostage situation, one of the dogs had bitten clean through a trafficker’s arm, helping the police rescue the hostage.

It got to the point where the anti-drug unit there was practically calling their superiors three times a day, requesting more of the dogs be allocated to them.

Yue Province was close to Hong Kong Island, and drugs had been trickling in from there. Using the police dogs from Shencheng, border control had discovered carriers on multiple occasions.

The dogs could even detect cases where people had sealed drugs in plastic pellets and swallowed them.

They were also calling frequently to request more dogs.

But the police dog training base here was still under construction. Things couldn’t move that quickly!

Previously, Han Xiaorui had to focus on fishing and had no time to breed dogs.

Now that the fishing ban was in effect, this had to become a priority.

The construction team worked overtime, pushing to get the dog breeding base operational as quickly as possible.

It had to be said that the people of Hua Country were a nation skilled at creating miracles; the construction speed was incredibly fast.

At noon, Yang Zhigang gathered the crews from all three boats at the seafood restaurant. He treated everyone to a meal and had already withdrawn cash.

He paid out not only the commission from the previous day but also the bonuses for the first half of the year.

Everyone took their money and deposited it in the bank before coming to eat, their minds at ease.

"Boss, a lot of people are jealous. I think you should hire more people for protection," Chen Yishui said. "This is the first time something like this has happened, but it won’t be the last."

Liang Xiaoyu nodded. "I thought the same thing when I discussed it with my mother-in-law. We know everyone around here, and they’re all doing pretty well. They might be envious of you, but they wouldn’t stoop to something like this. What’s scary are the desperate, vicious types who are just looking to make one big score and then vanish."

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui nodded. "That’s true. I do make a lot of money, after all. Once the fishing ban ends, I’ll have three fishing vessels under my name. My income will be even higher then, which will attract more attention. But none of that is a reason to hold me back. I’m planning to lease the empty lot next to us, build on it, and hire more people for protection."

Liang Xiaoyu agreed wholeheartedly. "Xiao Rui, that’s exactly what you should do. That empty lot is a vegetable garden, but it belongs to your family, so you can build a house on it."

Chen Yishui nodded. "That’s right. The Jinshan Bay development project is also under Xiao Rui’s investment company. It’s still in the funding phase right now, but once it’s finished and starts turning a profit, Xiao Rui will be the richest person in all of Jinshan Bay."

"If she isn’t careful, it’s definitely dangerous. Public safety these days really isn’t as good as people think. Sometimes, it’s better to be like us—comfortably well-off and content. We live well, and it’s safer."

Everyone laughed at that.

They went to sea with Han Xiaorui, and the pay was high. They were living very well.

They had seen through to the essence of life: money could solve ninety percent of their problems. So what was there to overthink? Just earn more.

Han Xiaorui laughed. "It’s a small matter, nothing to worry about. If any thieves dare to come, they might just get bitten to death by a venomous snake. If they don’t value their lives, they’re welcome to try and rob me!"

"Besides, the police station is right next door. It’s very close, they can be here in a minute. Don’t these thieves do any recon before they try to rob a place? That’s just brazen."

Chen Yishui shook her head. "Vicious people who are desperate and have nowhere else to turn will do anything to get money."

"Thank you all for your concern, but don’t worry about me," Han Xiaorui said with a smile. "Now that the fishing ban is here, everyone should plan your time off well and stay safe when you travel."

"We will, Boss," everyone replied. Now that they had money, it would be nice to get out and do some sightseeing.

Han Xiaorui returned home from the restaurant.

Ye Feng had rushed back, his expression urgent. "Something this serious happened, why didn’t you tell me?"

"Everything’s fine now, isn’t it? Besides, all four thieves have been caught. They got what they deserved," Han Xiaorui said with a smile. "And it was the middle of the night. If I had called you back that late, what if you’d gotten into an accident driving?"

Ye Feng hugged Han Xiaorui. "No, we have to increase security. We’ll build on that vegetable plot next door and hire bodyguards."

Han Xiaorui smiled. "I had the same thought. If we want to live here peacefully in the future, we’ll definitely need more security. After all, I’m destined to become the richest person in Jinshan Bay."

"You practically are already," Ye Feng chuckled. "Putting everything else aside, just based on your ornamental fish exports for the first half of the year, you’re leaving everyone in the dust, not just in Jinshan Bay but in the entire district."

"And as your investment company’s projects are completed and become operational, your income will just keep growing. Increasing the number of bodyguards is inevitable."

"Right. If that’s the case, let’s do it," Han Xiaorui agreed. "I’ll talk to the village council later about rezoning the land for residential use. Have you reported everything Kuno Hiroo told you?"

Ye Feng nodded. "I’ve already told my dad about the need to increase security and confidentiality awareness. He’ll handle it and told me not to worry. After all, this is something that needs to be implemented on a national scale. It’s beyond my capabilities."

"As for the semiconductor production line, the higher-ups have given me the green light to enter the industry, on the condition that I also cooperate with and undertake some R&D work. To be honest, I would do my best even if the country didn’t ask. I’m already collaborating with the relevant departments at Fudan University and providing them with research facilities."

Han Xiaorui smiled. "Then do it. My operation isn’t huge, but it brings in cash quickly. I support you in developing this industry. No matter how difficult it gets, we have to push forward."

"Yes. We can’t fall behind in areas that foreign countries are actively developing. If we don’t keep up now, it’ll be even harder to catch up later," Ye Feng replied. "Oh, right. The yacht arrives at the docks in Shencheng tomorrow. I’ll have someone pilot it over."

Han Xiaorui quickly waved him off. "No need. After I finish my prenatal checkup tomorrow, I’ll pilot it back myself."

Hearing this, Ye Feng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. When it came to anything involving boats and the sea, Han Xiaorui was always incredibly enthusiastic.
