What Do You Mean We Are Battling Wrong?!

I teleport us to the gym, and we go behind it so Ayaka can get her clothes back on. Once she has her clothes on, she takes us back to 3D, and we walk to the front and open the door. There is a lovely rock garden here, and it has some really nice Feng Shui. Ayaka asks the guy here, “Will you fight me?” He laughs, “Oh, no. I’ll leave all that fighting to you young ones. Though I do recommend starting with a Pokémon that will be good against their Pokémon.” We nod, though we aren’t that familiar with the types and what is good against what. I mean, except that Sir Floof is particularly good against dragon types. We walk in, and Ayaka is bursting with excitement. Two kids are here.

One of the kids runs to us, “You have to fight me before you can fight, Forrest!” Ayaka kisses me to take my jaw breaker and gets her game face on and calls out Garlic, “You're on, kid.” He says, “My name is Liam, not a kid!” Ayaka chuckles, “Sure, Liam. I don’t hold back against opponents. Are you ready?” He sends out this rocky-looking ball with arms, and he says, “Get ‘em, Geodude!” Ayaka says, “Garlic, you take care of that Geodude, I’ll fight Liam!” Liam is confused, and Garlic uses his Razor Leaf quirk on the Geodude. It seems really effective, and it knocks him out. Ayaka, as Garlic attacks that Geodude, disappears into 5D and throws the kid with Gunhead martial arts.

The kid yells, “What the crap! What is your problem, lady! You are battling wrong!” Ayaka looks confused, “But you said I had to fight you. I am so confused.” Another kid who looks older intervenes and summons a large, rocky, metal snake thing. “Just what do you think you are doing in my gym?!” I teleport between the large metal rock snake thing and Ayaka to shield her. Ayaka says while releasing the kid, “He said to fight him, and we were fighting. I don’t understand what the problem is.” The old man who was spectating chimes in and says, “Stand down, Forrest. I believe there has been a misunderstanding. You girls are foreigners, aren’t you?” We nod, and he continues and asks, “I take it that where you are from, humans fight alongside Pokémon?” I nod in affirmation, and Ayaka asks, confused, “So, am I not allowed to fight with Garlic? I can’t leave him to fight alone.”

The old man says, “Though we don’t normally have people fighting Pokémon in this gym, if you would desire to take up the challenge on behalf of your Pokémon partner, I wouldn’t see the problem. It seems like you girls have special abilities of your own, so you should be fine.” Ayaka then asks Garlic, “Hey buddy. Do you mind if I take the next fight then?” Garlic says, “Ivy,” with a smile, and he goes back into his Pokéball. Ayaka helps the kid up and says, wearing an apologetic smile, “I am sorry, Liam. It's not very hero-like of me to beat up a child, is it?” He takes her hand and asks, “Are you sure you want to fight my Sandshrew alone without a Pokémon?” Ayaka flexes, “Bring it, Liam.”

The kid summons a Pokémon that looks almost like an armadillo without the hard shell. It is actually adorable. Ayaka seems to think so, too, as she waves to it while wearing her “you’re fucking adorable” smile. She squats and says in her voice when she talks to cute things, “I am sorry, cutie, but I am going to have to rough you up for a bit. Ok?” The Sandshrew reassures her nonverbally that it is okay. The match starts, and the Sandshrew uses the Sandattack quirk. Ayaka dodges by going 2D. She closes the distance, and while in 2D, she squirts her ink on the Sandshrew and effectively blinds it. She then grabs it in 2D, runs up to the ceiling, pops out into 3D, and crashes the Sandshrew into the ground, creating a small crater.

The Sandshrew seems to be knocked out, and Liam runs to the Sandshrew and puts it back inside his Pokéball. Forrest, the other kid who apparently is the strongest here, takes Liam’s place on the beautiful battlefield, and he summons one of those Geodude things first. He says with a smirk, “I am a lot stronger than Liam is. Prepare yourself.” He yells, “Geodude, use Rockslide.” Rocks started pouring on Ayaka. She didn’t have enough time to tongue the jawbreaker, so she reinforced her body with Armament Haki. After the attack, she goes 2D and uses a 2D armament tentacle slam. When the Geodude pops up several meters in the air, Ayaka pops into 3D and forcefully slams it back down with another armament tentacle. Geodude fainted after that attack.

Forrest calls Geodude back into his Pokéball and then he calls out the large metal rock thing again and says, “Wipe the floor with her, Steelix! Use Earthquake!” The metal thing slams into the ground where Ayaka is. She used armament to shield herself, but she still yelled in pain. She evades in 5D and hits Steelix with an armament tentacle slam, but it doesn’t seem that effective. Ayaka hisses and retreats to the ‘trainer’ spot and calls out Garlic while coming back to 3D. She says, “Garlic, I need your help. My attacks aren’t doing much. Can you help?” I teleport to her side, and I look her over for injuries with worry. She has minor cuts on her person, and the old man here handed me a potion and said, “This potion should heal those injuries right up.”

I take it and spray it on her injuries, and they heal before my eyes. I ask the old man, “Are we able to buy these potions here?” I really want to stock up on these things since they seem pretty handy. He chuckles, “You sure can. They should be available at any PokéMart you come across.” NOTED. I look back to the fight where Garlic seems to have taken some damage from that Steelix, but seems to be in better shape than the Steelix is. Garlic uses his Razor Leaf quirk and wins the fight. Forrest groans, “Oh, man. Big bro is going to be disappointed in me.” He hands us the Boulder Badge and a weird thing that says Rock Tomb for proof of defeating him with a slightly annoyed face.

Ayaka asks while brimming with curiosity, “What is this Rock Tomb thing here?” He responds, “It is a way to teach Pokémon a new move. This particular one hurls boulders at an opponent and makes it harder for them to move, which lowers their speed.” The old man chimes in, “Not every Pokémon is compatible with TMs.” She holds it to Garlic, and it doesn’t do anything. Sir Floof and Squash come out, and she holds it to them, and nothing happens. She holds it to my head, and it does nothing.

​

Then she holds it to her own head for science, and it activates, which stuns everyone here, including us. When it was over, she said, “That was strange, but I have a new quirk now.” She throws boulders she summons from the air into an empty part of this gym, and I am standing there in awe of her extraordinary power. The people of this world are in even more awe. The old man says in awe, “That should be impossible. People shouldn’t be able to use TMs.” WHAT?!

Ayaka asks, smiling with excitement at the news, “Is there a place where we can purchase those TMs?” The old man says, “There is a store in Celadon City that sells them. Alternatively, there are places you could win them, like the Game Corner. Both are located in Celadon.” Ayaka waves to them, wearing that hero smile of hers as we make our way to the door, and says loudly, since there is distance between us now, “Thank you so much for the information! Have a good day!” We immediately went to the Pokémon Center here and treated Garlic, who was injured in the last match, which took about 10 minutes. Nurse Joy hands Ayaka Garlic’s Pokéball back and says, “Your Ivysaur is now in perfect health. We hope to see you again.” She smiles and waves as we leave.

Ayaka says with an excited smile, “Let’s go to Celadon City.” We discreetly turn 5D when no one is watching, and she removes her clothes and transforms so we can fly again. I use my zoom vision to read the signs, and the second one I looked at was Celadon. It actually was pretty close to flying from Pewter City. The most prominent building here is one with loads of windows and a sign that says ‘Celadon Department Store’. I teleport us behind it, she gets dressed, takes us back into 3D, and we walk inside. Ayaka says with a hopeful tone, “I really hope we can find something for you or our friends here as well.” I nod, really hoping to find something Sir Floof can use.

The second-floor clerk seems to have those TMs that Ayaka used. We looked through their selection, and it seems they have one called Double Team for $1000. Sir Floof would be compatible with that quirk by the description of increasing evasiveness. I don’t see any here that seem like a good fit for Squash. The ones that piqued my interest were the Mega Punch and Mega Kick quirks. Given how we fight, that seems compatible for us. However, we don’t have enough funds.

I slump for a moment, then I perk up, remembering that they buy things here. I whisper to Ayaka, “I want these, but we can’t afford them at the moment. Can we sell some of the other gems to get more of this world’s currency?” She smiles a huge smile and reaches for the tattoo with the gems, pulling them out discreetly so the clerk doesn’t see her quirk. The clerk gasps when he sees a large sapphire placed on the counter. Ayaka asks, “How much can we get for this?” The clerk stammers, “L-l-let me call the m-m-manager.” He picks up a dated-looking phone and calls the manager.

​

In a few moments, the manager comes out and examines the sapphire and says, “Truly remarkable. I will offer you 500,000 for this. Do you have more by chance?” Ayaka pulls out rubies, topazes, and more sapphires that we collected in Hyrule, and the manager’s eyes light up, and she says, “We will definitely have a good relationship. Follow me, and I will get your funds to you. I do apologize, but we won’t be able to purchase all of them at this time, as we need a certain amount of money in this facility to keep it functioning. I do hope you understand.” Ayaka flashes that hero smile of hers and responds, “That is understandable.” She takes us to the roof, where there are umbrellas and tables, and has us sit down; someone brings us some tea.

While we wait on them to get their funds, I pull Sir Floof out and teach him the Double Team quirk. He head-bonks me afterwards, and he stays out for head scratches. A store clerk returns with a briefcase, and when I stop petting Sir Floof, a net catches him, and I turn to find someone with a capture net pulling him to them on the edge of the building, wearing a shirt with a red R on it. They jump off the building while waving to us like we are losers, and I am FULL of rage. I pop a jawbreaker in my mouth and teleport to the edge of the building and peer down to see them floating down to the ground on some purple thing puffing purple clouds. I moved so quickly that I didn’t bring Ayaka with me. I don’t want to hurt Sir Floof, so I wait until they land to strike. I try to go after the person holding Sir Floof, and the purple thing shields him. I crack my knuckles, “So, it is going to be like that, huh? You are going to regret taking my best friend.” I teleport behind the thing and punch him with an armament punch. The purple thing yelps in pain, and the dude holding Sir Floof yells, “Wheezing, use Smog!”

The purple thing releases purple smoke that seems poisonous, but my repeated exposure to harmful materials while at my lowest seems to give me some immunity. I use my thermal vision to see that they are trying to get away in the purple smoke and go to a place called the Game Corner. I go inside, and the person who stole Sir Floof is nowhere to be seen. I see Sir Floof’s ribbon briefly over a small wall as if he is going down. I teleport over to it, and it appears like a normal floor. I look around the immediate vicinity and see a poster with the corner slightly wrinkled from frequent handling. I investigate to see a button.

Upon pressing it, the floor behind the wall opens, revealing a staircase. I go down the stairs ready to punch something. There are a bunch of things on the floor that make you move in a specific direction, but I use my quirk to avoid them, and since they wanted to take from me, I loot the things that caught my eye that were lying about. They had lots of good things here, ranging from a quirk called Rest that seems perfect for Squash, potions, different kinds of Pokéballs, items, and more of those TMs. I touched one of the TMs labeled Dark Pulse, and it seemed to react to me as Rock Tomb did for Ayaka, so I used it on myself, and it was such a strange experience. It was like knowledge was being directly implanted in my head on how to use this quirk. The dark sunglasses I picked up and put on seem to make this quirk stronger for some reason, and I won’t question the logic behind it.

​

There were lots of low-level thugs here with different types of Pokémon, and I quickly dispatched them, and they gave me money after I beat them, just like the kids at the gym in Pewter City. I think that is just the culture of battling here. Though, they very well could just be buying me off so I don’t beat the shit out of them because I am so pissed. I keep defeating these losers, working my way down, and get to an office where I see what appears to be the boss man. I look through the window to see the grunt who stole Sir Floof offering him to the boss man, who is petting a Persian. I am seething with rage, and I make an armament sword and teleport directly beside that boss man and hold my sword to his neck and say, “If you enjoy drawing breath, you will return Sir Floof.”

​

He asks as cold sweat drips down his face, his Persian growls at me, “How did you get in here?” I press the blade more into his neck and say as he hisses in pain, “This isn’t the time to be asking questions.” He chuckles and says in such a villainous tone while he continues to pet his Persian, “You don’t have the balls to kill someone.” I tell him with a chilling voice, “That is where you are wrong. I have taken lives before, and I won’t hesitate for my best friend. I cut down the villain who gave him those scars with this very sword.” The bossman waves to the grunt, who opens the net that captured Sir Floof, and Sir Floof seems to be poisoned and under the weather. He whimpers as he comes to me and goes back inside his Pokéball in my tattoo. When he is safe, I continue to hold the sword to his neck and say with venom as blood trickles down his neck from the pressure of my blade, “If you think about kidnapping him again, I will remove your head from your shoulders and give your head to Sir Floof to use as a ball to play with. Do I make myself clear?”

​

He nods, and I retract my pinky sword and look down at my trashed clothes from their ineffective poison attacks and sigh. I am still brimming with rage, but I think of what Ayaka would want and say, “I say let bygones be bygones… AFTER…” I approached that grunt and punched the shit out of him with an armament punch and said to the grunt who kidnapped Sir Floof. I lift him by the collar of his shirt, contemplating hitting him again, “Be glad you are walking away with your life for what you did.”

​

It was at this point that Ayaka arrived with Garlic out and ready to fight, seeing me with an armament fist standing over this thug, and I waved as I dropped the thug, who groaned as they hit the floor. I tell her, “Everything is just fine now. Bygones are bygones.” I turned to the boss man, glaring at him. “Right?” He nods while holding a handkerchief up to his bleeding neck with cold sweat dripping down his face. I say with my usual scowl, “I am glad we came to an understanding.” I grab Ayaka’s hand, “Come, my love. Let’s get out of this dump.” She smirks and says, “Let’s.” We teleport to the entry of each floor to quickly leave, and we first stop by the Celadon Pokémon Center.

​

As we were teleporting, I told Ayaka about all the goodies I looted from them, and she popped me on the arm, “Heroes aren’t supposed to loot, you know?” I smirk, “Well, they started it, and if any of us is going to get our hands dirty, it should be me. They had some good shit, too.” Ayaka smirked at my response and squeezed my arm, pressing her breasts against it, making me flustered, and she said, “Do tell.” I told her about the new quirk I got and the one I found that seemed perfect for Squash, and all the other loot, and her eyes sparkled, “I can’t wait to see your new quirk! That sounds so cool!” I tell her, “I am not sure why I am compatible with it, though, my ultimate is blindingly bright, not dark.” Ayaka says, “From hearing you describe it from your mind’s eye, it sounds like you are throwing space. If you think about it, teleportation is nothing but controlling space. So, I think you are focusing on the wrong aspect of your quirk.” I say, “Ahhh, I guess that makes sense if I were to think from that perspective.” However, that only makes me more confused about why she was able to learn that Rock Tomb quirk.

​

After we healed Sir Floof at the Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy guided me to the back, where she has showers for the Pokémon and curtains so I can wash the poisonous sludge from myself. I am glad that I packed extra clothes for times like this. I am just glad that sludge didn’t make its way inside my backpack. I shower and get changed into fresh clothes, and Nurse Joy asks if I am really ok. I nod. “I am just fine.” She says, not believing me, “Are you sure? You had poison all over when you came in.” I tell her reassuringly, “I have a weird immunity to poison, so you don’t have to worry about me getting damaged from stuff like that.” She seems to believe that, sighs, and says, “Well, if you do come under the weather, please get an antidote.” I nod, and she hands me Sir Floof’s Pokéball, which Ayaka puts back as a tattoo, and this Nurse Joy says, “Your Sylveon is now in perfect health. Come back to visit.” Ayaka smiles that hero smile of hers, and we return to our meeting with the department store manager.

The manager was distraught when we returned and asked, “I am so sorry that something like that happened under my watch. I will do anything to make it up to you.” Ayaka waves her hand, “That won’t be necessary. We were able to get Sir Floof back and come to an arrangement with those who took him.” She laughs at that, “I can’t believe anyone would come into an advantageous agreement with Team Rocket like that, but you girls are something else.” She brings out some snacks that Sir Floof, Garlic, and Squash enjoy as we talk about the particulars of our gem arrangement. They said they would need at least a week between sales, and we assured them that wouldn’t be a problem. They gave us a suitcase of 500,000 Pokédollars that Ayaka put in her bag.

​

We used the funds to buy a few of each of the TMs they had in stock here, regardless of compatibility with Principal Nezu, Gang Orca, and our classmates back home. I am sure that some of them will be compatible with these. We both learn the Mega Punch, and before we leave Celadon City, Ayaka fights their gym here, which happens to be a grass-type gym. After she breezed through fighting the weaklings, she fought the boss, who, after the fight, gave her the TM Giga Drain. She said it was a grass-type move that takes Health Points from an opponent and recovers some of the stolen Health Points. That sounds handy for Garlic and Ayaka, already on it, calls him out, and has him learn the new move.

There is still time in the day, and Ayaka looks at me excitedly as we leave the Celadon gym. She says, “I really want to play some of the games at the Game Corner. I am really good at farming those types of things in video games and have full confidence in my abilities.” I also have complete confidence in her abilities. We return to the Game Corner, and Ayaka starts gambling and winning a lot. The locals are pissed at her luck, and I glare at them to make them stay in their lane. When Ayaka has a large haul of coins, we go to the counters with those TMs and shop around. It seems that the Iron Tail is compatible with Sir Floof and Psychic is compatible with Squash, so we buy those. There is one called Hidden Power that is compatible with Garlic. That quirk is powerful and changes its nature, making it always super-effective against an opponent.

After getting all of our loot, the sun is starting to set, and Ayaka is beaming with excited energy from our very productive time in this world. She says while holding my hand, “Let’s pick up the principal and go home.” I nod, and we find a discreet place to go 5D and fly back to Miss Delia’s house. Principal Nezu was outside helping Miss Delia in the garden, and they waved to us when they saw us. I am confused as to why the principal would be gardening. Ayaka said while looking at the garden work they completed, which was flowers in this particular plot of soil, “Wow, I didn’t know you could garden, Principal Nezu.” He chuckles, “It is very cathartic and helps clear the mind.” Miss Delia smiles and wipes her dirty face, “It is, isn’t it?”

​

We went inside and updated them on what happened to us today, and Miss Delia said, “Wow, you girls were busy today.” Principal Nezu asks, “Can you elaborate upon these TMs you mentioned?” Ayaka pulls out several from her bag, and several resonate with the Principal. She grabs the Dig quirk and holds it against his head. “Some things are better shown than said.” It activates and glows. After it was done glowing, Principal Nezu said, “That was certainly a new experience. It feels as though a quirk was downloaded inside my brain.” Miss Delia drops the hand shovel she was using to transplant flowers, awestruck by what just happened.

Not long after, we said our goodbyes to Miss Delia and headed back to New York with our new loot.
