Chapter 837: Potions & Dungeons
Chapter 837: Potions & Dungeons
[Sanctuary city, The sanctum tower, Damian’s POV.]
Free from most of his duties, Damian had returned his focus fully to his runic jets. The runic engines were not simple things to build, but day by day, the test results were coming back positive.
For short bursts of power, the jets had been proven powerful, but their real test was long-term function under load. With a few more adjustments and the flying part should be done. The functions and other features were also already planned by him; they just needed to be installed and tested in real time.
But for the past three days, it wasn’t the runic jet on his mind. Damian was inside his chemistry lab. Trying to make a potion that could truly change the appearance of a person fully, instead of some features.
He already had a hair-changing potion. The new dungeons featured water-based siren monsters that trapped challengers with their mesmerizing appearances. It was a spell that played with a person’s mind to change the features of a face slightly.
That was the basis of his research, added to several other monster-related mimicry potions that help change certain features of the body. After mixing them all in different ratios, playing around with the runic circle, changing things, and creating potions of all weirdness, there was finally something reliable he could show for his work.
It would have been done much earlier if he could have tested on people. However, it was obviously something that no one could handle. Only when Damian was certain of his new potion did he try it on himself and others.
Changing physical appearance took some unique workarounds, but the rest was simple enough once he figured out how to do it. The potion could not change a person into someone else exactly – it could only make the appearance different enough that no one would be able to recognize.
Change in hair, body structure, facial features, and even special additions for different beastmen races. Their main focus was to become beastmen, to fit in with the shadow organization. Which was why he had worked extensively on that. The human one was also perfect, but the beastman’s one was his masterpiece.
When he finished, the first few potions Damian gave to Reize and the two elves. He wanted them to use it and roam around the sanctuary in public places as long as they could. It was to check how long it worked with a greater number of people around. Damian had kept the mind manipulation element to the lowest, working more on the physical, but it was still part of it.
Plus, even after searching, he had no solution for the voice. Changing that was harder than one might think. He had his spell that enhanced voices and could slightly alter them, but it wouldn’t be without being noticed.
Reize and Ilvanya agreed to help. Now he just had to wait for the feedback, and the appearance-changing potion would be ready to use.
It was strictly army use; never will it be sold in shops.
’Maybe I can get Lucian to use it for a night..’
That bunny girl beastmen had impressive features. Wonder what Lucian would look like with those.
Thinking about such happy things, Damian and Jacob continued their work on the runic jet after lunch and rest.
Damian had already built receiver towers in all of the mainland, and also added more flying platforms to do the transportation in all countries. It wasn’t hard for him, which was why he had agreed in the first place.
The dungeon diving was going at full force; people from all over the mainland were using the transportation system to arrive at the sanctuary city. They had placed the waygate points outside the city, so people didn’t have to enter inside. People still had to come to the Sanctuary City to reach the New Dawn island; that, they could not just place it anywhere. It had to be protected.
Before long, Damian received a text from Lucian to meet her in the academy. It was on behalf of Vidalia and not the real academy business.
The academy had everything ready, and the classes were just ready to start. Lucian had been busy with her staff, taking entrance exams and doing last-minute touches. Vidalia had also started recruiting for her department.
The spellcrafting department was still under the Sanctum research board management. Vidalia was the head of that and was responsible for hiring people from the sanctuary and mainland who could help her create spells. Damian had discussed with her what spells they could focus on and had been present when they started chanting, but most of the time went into researching and creating runic arrays and modifying them.
Vidalia was good at it, and she had gathered people who had also made a name or had potential in the field. One of the biggest helps they could get was learning the different languages that had different spells. It was one of the fastest ways to learn new spells. Damian had given her access to the dungeon data since there was still time for the academy to start, and Vidalia and her team had time on their hand.
“Can I have the list of dungeons you have? The ones with real names.” Vidalia asked the second Damian entered her personal quarters in the academy building.
“Something important?” Damian asked, taking a seat even though he was not offered one.
“How much do you know about interlinking dungeons?”
“I thought that was just a rumor..” Damian replied.
He was aware of the theory that proposed multiple dungeons pointing towards one single type or similar civilizations that were prevalent inside. A universally accepted method of communication. Of course, it was all far-fetched things, and there was barely any real proof that connected multiple dungeons.
Though it could be possible. Didn’t the pigmen sun god say there were options to send dungeons to other worlds? One could send a one, hundred-level dungeon or four 25-level dungeons?
Four dungeons from the same planet would indeed look somewhat similar, even if they were from different eras of the civilizations.
“I thought so too. But with so much dungeon data available, there had to be some similarities we noticed sooner or later.” Vidalia said while rustling papers with dungeon details on them.
