Chapter 794: The Pride of the Demon Spawn

Chapter 794: The Pride of the Demon Spawn

[Fifth Floor of the Sanctum building, Guest room No.5, Reize’s POV.]

The nice attendant of Damian showed Reize and Yomi the room they would be sharing. She had already explained the simple runic tool usage in the room to Yomi and Kora, and yet when the guard brought Reize down, she explained everything from the beginning for her.

Kora was assigned another room.

Seeing the improved versions of water heating and room temperature control spells, Reize could not help but smile. Every single spell he had used in his academy room was used here as well. Reize wondered what his own personal room looked like. That one must be even more filled with runic tools of all types. Original content can be found at noⅴelfire.net

Agatha, the attendant, left them alone in the room.

Yomi was already testing the soft bedding and checking the change of clothes they had provided. Reize let her be and moved closer to the full transparent air shield window. The view of the busy city was breathtaking.

A home. For her?

But can she really accept it?

It wasn’t just about her anymore. Once again, uncounsioucly, Reize’s hand reached her stomach. She had lied to Damian again. This time, however, it was different.

After returning from the Highsword dungeon and rescuing her sister, Reize had noticed a change in her body.

In that one week of travelling from the inner Malveria to the border, she felt a faint cramp low in her belly, too light to call pain but odd enough to notice. By afternoon, she was already tired, her breasts sore when she moved. Even the smell of her favourite fruits made her stomach turn. She told herself it was just stress or a bad night’s sleep, yet a quiet thought lingered that something in her body was shifting.

And she was proven right when she and Yomi arrived in that village. The midwife had confirmed her suspicion. She was indeed pregnant.

For a couple of days, Reize could not understand how it could ever be possible.

The year they had lived in that non-magic world, she had no physical relation with anyone. The Pigmen War lasted barely a few days. And then.. They were back. The last time she had sex with anyone was before they were thrown into the pigmen world by the Highsword dungeon. She did have regular relations with Damian in the academy, but that was ages ago.

The only explanation she could think of was that since the second they entered the dungeon, and when they exited, their bodies underwent no physical changes. They did not age inside the dungeon at all, not even in that one year they spent in the unknown world. Their levels did, but not their real bodies.

It was a very weird thing, though, because the same thing had happened with Einar and Evrin, only the time was different.

Technically, all that had happened in the Highsword dungeon was only a couple of weeks’ equivalent for their real bodies. Yet the outside world had seen over ten years of passage of time. It was like they had been trapped in time somewhere ever since they were thrown out of the Highsword dungeon.

If she considered it like that, then the child in her womb was of Damian himself.

Even before she had confirmed it, Reize had decided not to return to Sanctum at all. If she were pregnant, then she would raise the kid on her own. Damian and she were no longer together; Damian had moved on and had a good relationship with Lucian.

Reize did not want to come between them. She did not want, at any cost, for Damian to feel responsible for her. At that time, sleeping with him were her orders, and also her own desire.

She would not beg for love.

Even if she wanted that more than anything else in the world. There were desires, and then there was self-respect.

She had already created too many troubles for him; for this, she won’t involve him. Resize decided to leave Sanctuary after a week or so of rest.

“Whoa! What is that!?”

Reize heard Yomi shout from behind her. Then the girl rushed beside her, near the air shield window.

Following her outstretched hand, Reize noticed a blue blur of metal flying at an unbelievable speed, high above the city and even the building of Sanctum. It only looked like a dot, but Reize already understood what it was.

It was small. And really fast. How the hell did he manage to build that?

The Dreamlight they had made together required hundreds of moving parts and a giant tree. All that in just a simple wyvern-like machine, truly, this city was the home of the best runesmith in the world.

“That’s a flying ship..” Reize answered.

“A flying ship? Are you saying there is a person inside that is controlling it?”

Reize smiled, seeing the excited childlike enthusiasm on Yomi’s face. Guess she could extend her stay to a month or so. If there was any place on the mainland she would ever want her sister to live in, then this city was it.

Yomi didn’t have demonic features like her; she would fit in with the humans perfectly. Maybe she can have all that which she had seen a glimpse of in the academy. Friends, rivals, belonging, and.. Family.

[High in the Sanctuary city air space, Damian’s POV.]

Even at the limit, the runic engine was working like a beast. There were some serious issues he had noticed. Like the violent turbulence, the leakage of excess oil that kept the pistons working nicely, and the engine heat management spells.

There was a delicate balance between the constant power the runic engine was producing and the cooling spells that kept the metal from becoming too hot. But the greater the speed and the more fluctuation in the gears and the spells were not adapted enough to keep up.

Some of these issues can be solved with enchantments, while others he could leave to the pilot’s judgment. Flying such a beast was obviously not going to be an easy task. Training was a must, and skills were required.
