The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game

Chapter 434: The Daywalker Really Wants to Die...

It had to be said, the Daywalker’s vision and grasp of the bigger picture were truly on another level.

By focusing on technological development, supplemented by Divine Techniques, he had actually managed to create weapons that were consecrated and blessed.

They were first-rate tools for dealing with the Blood Race.

Technology, which had been suppressed, instantly bounced back with a vengeance.

The Church had previously entertained the idea of development, but due to limitations imposed by various nations, resources, and so on, it had simply been impossible.

Qi Suian had expected something like Witch Hunting campaigns to emerge as a result of this development.

And in fact, they did. Many Archbishops within the Church clung to the idea of ruling through divine authority while keeping the populace unenlightened.

However, they were all suppressed by the Daywalker.

If things had developed that way, how would humanity be any different than before?

In one case, they were enslaved by the Church; in the other, by the Blood Race.

What would be the point of all the Daywalker’s struggles if they only led to human civilization remaining in a state of ignorance?

For the Daywalker, this went against his original intentions.

So, after he was done fighting the Blood Race, he had to continue fighting the Church.

Fortunately, the Church was far less difficult to deal with than the Blood Race. He had no advantage against the Blood Race, but against the Church, his martial strength was the best solution.

Thus, he could use force to suppress anyone who refused to submit.

And so, the Archbishops of the Church began seeking a new balance to limit the supreme power the Daywalker had gained through force.

It was a nice idea, but it seemed they had grown accustomed to relying on others. Or perhaps it was because they simply couldn’t match the Daywalker’s level of strength. In any case, they came looking for Qi Suian.

That’s right, Qi Suian.

The Archbishops wanted to bring in an external power—Qi Suian—to act as a counterbalance.

And then they were promptly sold out by him.

"Are your people out of their minds?" Qi Suian complained. "We just dealt with the great external enemy, the Blood Race, and they’re already starting to fight amongst themselves."

"So without any pressure, they just fall apart, is that it? To think they actually wanted to pull me into the Church to challenge you."

Qi Suian rambled on, telling the Daywalker all this.

The Daywalker revealed a helpless, bitter smile. "This is already pretty good."

"It’s a good thing I dealt with the various nations beforehand. Otherwise, they wouldn’t just be trying to pull you into the Church to challenge me; they might have even reignited the conflicts between nations."

"I don’t understand it either. Why is it like this?"

The Daywalker was still quite at ease with Qi Suian, who couldn’t care less about power.

"No, what I mean is, it’s not that they couldn’t win me over, but they offered me peanuts and expected me to charge into battle for them while they sit back and reap the fruits of victory."

"They must take me for a fool..." Qi Suian was rather speechless.

It was like an NPC giving a player a quest to collect one million Gold Coins, only for the reward to be a hundred Gold Coins.

If there was a follow-up hidden quest, you might be able to break even, but no—it was purely a sucker’s quest.

How could Qi Suian possibly fall for that?

They showed no sincerity, yet they wanted to use him as a weapon. Dream on.

"It’s not that they offered too little, but that they aren’t on the same level as you," the Daywalker explained. "What seems like peanuts to you is, in their eyes, a share of immense profits."

It was like how resources from the Qi Cultivation Stage were considered nothing more than child’s play in the eyes of someone at the Foundation Establishment Stage.

In the Blood Race World, humanity’s Extraordinary power relied on Divine Techniques; they themselves had never broken through the limits of the human body.

This was the cause of the discrepancy. The Daywalker, on the other hand, possessed a broader perspective, which allowed him to cooperate with Qi Suian as an equal.

"So, how are you planning to deal with these people? Just kill them all according to a list?" Qi Suian asked curiously.

After a long silence, the Daywalker finally said, "You handle it for me."

"The Church needs to be cleansed."

"They and my plan are now on completely different paths."

"It is time for Divine Technique to exit humanity’s stage."

"Humanity’s development needs no lord, nor does it need Divine Technique!" the Daywalker declared with resolve.

Hearing this, Qi Suian immediately asked, "What’s in it for me?"

He demanded benefits right away. Why should he help otherwise? Theirs was a pure relationship of mutual interest, with no friendship to speak of.

"Nothing directly, but by clearing out this group, I’ll be able to better control the Church’s power. Then I can bring more people to Villerlis Town," the Daywalker said.

Hearing this, Qi Suian understood instantly. When it came to ruthlessness, the Daywalker was in a league of his own.

By having Qi Suian eliminate all the higher-ups, and then in the battle of Villerlis Town, with the Piercing Demon’s power, even if the Church’s Extraordinary personnel weren’t completely wiped out, their losses would be catastrophic.

With the Daywalker suppressing them afterward, the Church would likely vanish into thin air.

"What about the Blood Race, then? Without the Church, how will you deal with them?" Qi Suian asked.

But the Daywalker just smiled. "You want the Blood Race Sacred Artifact. You want to go to the Red Sea. You want to pursue the truth of power."

"Do you think the Blood Race has any path to survival?"

"Especially once the Blood Race Sacred Artifact falls into your hands. Once they lose their source of power, the Blood Race won’t survive for three days."

"Unless you give up. But is that even possible?" The Daywalker had calculated everything long ago.

As long as the Piercing Demon was killed, the only real threat remaining would be the Church itself, which wanted to rule humanity with divine authority.

As for Qi Suian? The Daywalker understood his personality. At most, he would kill him, but he wouldn’t target worthless humans.

He saw things very clearly, and so he planned very well.

"Give me the list." Qi Suian truly hadn’t expected the Daywalker to say all that.

Killing those Archbishops was no difficult task for Qi Suian. He could release his fibers and take care of it in half an hour at most.

He could even make them die without a single trace, as if they had simply vanished.

The Daywalker had it ready. It was clear he had either anticipated the Archbishops trying to recruit Qi Suian or had been monitoring them closely.

SNAP. Qi Suian broke off one of his own fingers, which immediately dissolved into countless fibers and began to disperse.

The bio-computer would control them to carry out the assassinations, so Qi Suian didn’t have to handle it himself.

"Alright, just wait for the news," Qi Suian said directly after he was done.

"When can you finish assembling the grand army?" Qi Suian asked his own question.

"Three days is enough." After speaking, the Daywalker hesitated for a moment before adding, "If it’s convenient, I’d like you to head to Villerlis Town first."

"The Villeries family is now down to its last heir. Given their loyalty to humanity, they shouldn’t be allowed to meet such an end."

"So I’d like you to go there first and protect the last heir of the Villeries family."

In response to the Daywalker’s request, Qi Suian repeated himself: "What’s in it for me?"

Helping the Daywalker kill the Archbishops to control the Church’s power would get him more Extraordinary cannon fodder to command.

But going to Villerlis Town early was not only risky, he’d also have to protect a member of the Villeries family. If there was no benefit at all, wouldn’t that be a huge loss?

The Daywalker lowered his gaze and said, "You can kill me afterward."

"???" Qi Suian was completely bewildered. He did indeed want to kill the Daywalker to seize his protagonist’s halo, but he thought he had hidden it quite well. How had the man seen through him?

"Your malice is very obvious. Although I don’t understand why you want to kill me, this can serve as the terms of our exchange," the Daywalker said bluntly.

"I have no problem with the deal, but I have one question." Qi Suian agreed. "Why do you want to die?"

The Daywalker’s strength was indeed no match for the Blood Bath Queen or the Piercing Demon; he was only on the same level as the Son of the Dragon.

But he was special, which made him very difficult to kill. Add his protagonist’s halo to the mix, and it was even more difficult.

"The Blood Race prophet’s prophecy has only been half-fulfilled."

"The other half... I don’t intend to let it be completed."

"So I need someone to help me die," the Daywalker said calmly.

Qi Suian remembered the Blood Race prophet’s prophecy said that the Cursed Child would be the common monarch of both humans and the Blood Race.

But clearly, the Daywalker was far more extreme than him. He considered himself human, not Blood Race.

The prophecy had already fulfilled the part about him becoming the king of humans, but the Blood Race half remained unfulfilled.

This meant that after Qi Suian wiped out the Blood Race, the Daywalker himself might once again become the key to the Blood Race’s return.

As for whether the prophecy had already been changed... perhaps. But the Daywalker wasn’t willing to gamble.

Besides, humanity didn’t need an immortal king to rule over them.

"Just for this? You’re actually thinking of giving up your life? How ridiculous."

"But I accept." Qi Suian and the Daywalker were never the same kind of person.

One would forsake everything for his race and civilization, including himself.

The other, Qi Suian, was an invader, a destroyer, and a selfish egotist. Thus, the two could be excellent partners, but they would never be friends.

As long as the Daywalker provided sufficient benefits, he could compel Qi Suian to do his bidding.

Qi Suian didn’t care about strength or status. As long as someone could pay a price that moved his interests, being used as a blade was no big deal.

"I just find it hard to imagine that someone with your personality would actually let go." Qi Suian found it incredible. He thought the Daywalker would act as a lifelong nanny for human civilization.

Something like a behind-the-scenes ancestor, for example, especially since he possessed an eternal lifespan.

"If I don’t let go, humanity will never grow up."

"I can only free humanity from the clutches of the Blood Race and the Church, giving them an environment in which to grow on their own."

"Everything else, I cannot do, nor do I want to manage. That is humanity’s own path." Although the Daywalker considered himself human, he also knew that half of the blood in his veins would always belong to the Blood Race.

It wasn’t an issue now, but after several generations, everything would change.

Perhaps it would become an excuse to attack him, or perhaps a reason to deify him, but none of that was what he wanted.

"Besides, I’m tired."

"I don’t want to continue." The Daywalker hadn’t personally killed the Archbishops, but he was the reason for their deaths.

After all, whether they were Archbishops or others in the Church, they were nominally his subordinates, but in reality, many were friends, disciples, and more.

Now that he was sending them to their graves with his own hands, it was natural that he felt terrible.

In the end, only he would be left. That kind of loneliness would sooner or later cause his personality to change drastically. It was better to eliminate this hidden danger in advance.
