The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game

Chapter 415: I Want News of the Rot Bracelet, but I Don’t Want to Do the Task

The resistance’s secret base in Brasov City wasn’t in some hidden location or underground facility.

It was in a large manor.

The place belonged to a Brasov official, whose true identity was that of a member of the resistance’s leadership.

He had taken enormous risks to become a spy embedded within the enemy’s ranks.

"They want us to investigate last night’s mysterious person? How are we supposed to do that?" Stephanie said, frowning.

She was the woman who had disguised herself as a servant last night to assassinate Oliver.

"This is no small task. One wrong move, and it’ll cost all of us our lives," Golem said grimly from the side.

He was the resistance member who had infiltrated the Brasov City official system, and also a leader of the local resistance cell.

As a Tax Collector, his power could be considered great, but also very small. After all, there were plenty of people in Brasov City with higher positions than him.

The intelligence his contact had just retrieved truly left him feeling helpless.

A mission of this level was simply impossible to complete.

"Stephanie, you’re the only one who had contact with that mysterious person. Tell us what happened," Golem said, bringing the conversation back on track despite his frustration.

Stephanie composed herself, then began to recall the events of the previous night. However, she really didn’t have much of an impression of him.

After all, her attention had been completely focused on Governor Oliver. How could she possibly have noticed any other member of the Blood Race?

As the one carrying out the attack, the pressure on her had naturally been immense, and in the end, she had still failed. The result filled her with endless regret.

She had been just a hair’s breadth away from killing Oliver, a third-generation member of the Blood Race.

"I don’t have much of an impression of him. What I can describe is limited," Stephanie said, relaying the few details she could remember.

At this point, she was certain of one thing: unless this mysterious person appeared before them again, they had no way of finding him.

If the entire Brasov City hadn’t been locked down, they would have evacuated long ago instead of still being holed up in their base.

They did have a plan, but after the unexpected failure, the evacuation plan was aborted.

"We can’t find him. Abandon the mission. We need to evacuate Brasov City as soon as possible." After hearing her out, Golem had no intention of continuing.

They were already like rats in a sewer here, and after their previous operation, the hunt for them would only become more intense.

It was questionable whether they could even get out alive themselves. How could they possibly search a massive city for someone they barely remembered?

"I’m afraid it’s too late. Didn’t the intel say the Blood Bath Queen will arrive at eight tonight? Do you think we can get out of the city in an hour?"

"Once the Blood Bath Queen is here, her immense dark power will find us easily." Stephanie knew that since they hadn’t managed to leave during the day, they definitely wouldn’t be able to get away today either.

"What are you planning to do?" Golem’s expression changed slightly.

"I want to see if we can use ourselves as bait to kill the Blood Bath Queen!" Stephanie didn’t hide her intentions, pulling out a vial of high-concentration Holy Water.

"We still have one vial of Holy Water, and it’s extremely concentrated. This time, with no mysterious person to interfere, as long as we’re fast enough..."

"With the Secret Silver Dagger and the Holy Water, even the Blood Bath Queen can be killed."

Her plan was simple, but executing it would be anything but easy.

First, they had to ensure that when they were discovered, it would be the Blood Bath Queen who came for them, not other members of the Blood Race.

That was just absurd. They were a bunch of small-timers; how could they possibly lure out the Blood Bath Queen?

So Golem rejected her decision without hesitation. "No. We retreat together. We save who we can."

Staying behind meant certain death—a meaningless death. But if they left together, they could live to fight another day.

"I know. But what if I have information on the Rot Bracelet, one of the Thirteen Sacred Artifacts of the Blood Race? Do you think I could get an audience with the Blood Bath Queen then?" Stephanie said.

"I don’t think so, but you can see me." A strange voice suddenly cut in.

This startled everyone, and they instinctively attacked in the direction of the voice.

Having spent years living on the edge of danger, they were naturally extremely vigilant.

However, their attacks were restrained by an immense force, leaving them completely unable to move.

Stephanie turned her head, and her expression brightened. "It’s you! The one who caught Oliver."

As soon as she said this, everyone looked at Qi Suian with different thoughts.

Qi Suian released his grip, and everyone was freed from his restraint. Only then did he ask, "Do you really have news about the Rot Bracelet?"

"Yes, but..." Stephanie hesitated, then forced herself to say, "But I can’t guarantee it’s true. It’s just something I heard."

But Qi Suian just flashed a brilliant smile. "As long as it’s not a lie to deceive the Blood Bath Queen, it’ll do."

’With my protagonist halo, if she mentions it, it’s bound to be true.’

"What about Oliver?" Golem interrupted, cutting off their conversation.

In his eyes, Qi Suian couldn’t be trusted either. The man was too mysterious.

"He’s dead," Qi Suian said directly. "I killed him after I was done questioning him."

"I was just passing by when I overheard this lovely lady mention she had news of the Rot Bracelet, so I stopped." Qi Suian wasn’t stingy with his compliments.

’Anyone who brings me an opportunity, I’ll call them beautiful even if they’re a monster.’

"So, can you tell me?" Qi Suian’s patience was short; he got straight to the point.

However, Stephanie also flashed a brilliant smile. "Of course. But I have two conditions."

"First, get them out of Brasov City. Then, come with me to kill the Blood Bath Queen. After that, I’ll give you the information on the Rot Bracelet."

She was no naive damsel. Just like Golem, she found Qi Suian untrustworthy.

So, naturally, she intended to use him.

Love at first sight? Not a chance. She lived her life walking on a knife’s edge; there was no room for romance. Her only thought was to expel the Blood Race and restore the glory of the Transylvania Kingdom.

With the help of this powerful, mysterious man, the chances of killing the Blood Bath Queen were much higher.

"I can get them out. Killing the Blood Bath Queen is a no-go."

"I’ve never fought her, but there’s a good chance I’m no match for her." Qi Suian spread his hands, indicating he would only agree to the first part.

’Besides, I’m not really planning to get them out. I’ll just imprison them outside the city. If the woman gives me the information, I’ll leave them be.’

’But if she thinks about backing out on the deal, I’ll shove them all into the Melting Furnace.’

This group didn’t trust Qi Suian, and he didn’t trust them either.

Who would blindly trust a stranger they’d only met twice?

"You don’t have to do the fighting. I just need some assistance from you." Stephanie seemed to have vaguely guessed Qi Suian’s thoughts.

’But it doesn’t matter. If we succeed in killing the Blood Bath Queen, it will be worth it even if Golem and the others die for it.’

’And if we fail, Qi Suian will have to face the Blood Bath Queen’s wrath. Just as he said, he definitely won’t leave alive.’

’At that point, Golem and the others will be safe.’

"Can’t help you one bit. If you agree, I’ll get you out. If not, you can take your Rot Bracelet intel to the grave." Qi Suian wasn’t one to be threatened.

The Sacred Artifact was important, but he didn’t fight battles he wasn’t prepared for.

He wasn’t the type to be led by his dick, rushing to risk his life just because a woman said a few words.

"You don’t need to trouble yourself with getting us out. You can go to the north of the Transylvania Kingdom. The leader wants to see you."

"I imagine with your skills, it won’t be difficult to find the resistance leader. There’s something you want there," Golem said, seeing the standoff and deciding to speak up.

In his opinion, whether he and the others got out or not wasn’t important.

Brasov City was never a strategic location for their resistance anyway.

It was one of the Blood Race’s industrial arteries. Just establishing a foothold here was an incredible feat; it wasn’t a place they could easily disrupt.

So, death was something they had long been prepared for.

However, Qi Suian was able to get away unscathed. Both the resistance and the Church wanted to see him, so they had to let him go.

’As for the information about the Rot Bracelet? If Stephanie dies and no one else knows, that would actually be a good thing for both the resistance and the Church.’

’After all, only the Blood Race can use their Sacred Artifacts. We’re human; they’re useless to us even if we get our hands on them. It would be better if it remained lost forever.’

"The resistance has something I want? How strange." Qi Suian’s gaze fell upon Golem. "Care to elaborate?"

’I’ll definitely go check it out because of that. After all, with my protagonist halo, the chances of coming back empty-handed are slim.’

’It’d be nice to know a little something beforehand, though.’

"Our leader once obtained a Blood Race Sacred Artifact," Golem said, not lying.

That Blood Race Sacred Artifact was called the Execution Axe. It was later given to the Daywalker, the Sect Leader of the Church.

"And now?" Qi Suian caught the meaning behind the word "once."

"You’ll have to ask the leader. I don’t know its whereabouts," Golem stated plainly.

"Fine, I get it." Qi Suian didn’t plan on leaving just yet. He turned to Stephanie and said, "In five minutes, a Blood Race Count and ten Viscounts will arrive, along with a bunch of other assorted riffraff from the Blood Race."

"So, you can either tell me the whereabouts of the Rot Bracelet now, or you can wait for your comrades to fall into the hands of the Blood Race."

Qi Suian threatened her directly.

He didn’t even intend to get them out of the city anymore. The market fluctuates, and Qi Suian’s terms could be downsized, too.

"My conditions are non-negotiable, even if you threaten me with Golem and the others’ lives as bargaining chips." Stephanie was unfazed.

Qi Suian just nodded at this. "Well then, I hope you’re still this tough in five minutes."

After speaking, Qi Suian’s figure gradually faded away.

"Don’t just stand there, let’s go." After saying this, Golem led everyone toward a secret tunnel they had dug long ago.

He believed Qi Suian’s words.
