The Ruined World Was Mistaken for a Game

Jinwoo returned to Arsilan and checked on the state of the Erosion. The Erosion, which he had set to run on automatic, was busily invading the Kalsus Dimensional Empire, waging endless battles against Calgul and General Gordon's legions.

Though some regions had been completely devoured by the Erosion, support kept coming from Scharnhilde, Kaljest, and the rest of the imperial family, and they were holding it back successfully.

Jinwoo planned to keep grinding down the strength of both the Erosion and the Kalsus Dimensional Empire until the Heroes of Arsilan had saved the entire southern dimensional realm and grown into a full-fledged third power.

The Kalsus Dimensional Empire had split in two, and the Erosion, addicted to the taste of Earth's food, kept burning through its Authority.

Arsilan was wealthier than ever. It would be no exaggeration to call it the richest place in the dimensional realm. Its subspace was packed with high-quality Authority Stones and enormous riches.

SLUUURP, SLUUURP!

It was like he had stuck in a giant straw and was sucking everything out. Even now, Authority Stones and riches kept piling up in his subspace. If becoming a god hadn't massively expanded his subspace, he never could have handled it all.

'Still, it's nowhere near enough.'

The two powers that had split the dimensional realm between themselves for untold ages were tremendously strong. Even while shaking them from within and siphoning off so much, Arsilan was still the weakest of the three powers.

Just looking at the Bubble Dimensions that made up the Wall of the Abyss showed how countless the dimensions those things had drained over the years truly were.

'I can leave things alone for a while.'

The situation would deteriorate on its own.

At some point amid all that, a moment of rapid collapse would come, and that would be exactly when Arsilan raised its banner and made its presence known in earnest.

That would be the end of Arsilan Saga Episode 6, and the beginning of Episode 7, in which Arsilan joined the war of the dimensional realm as a third power.

Jinwoo looked around Arsilan in Leon's form for the first time in a while. He wore a plain traveler's outfit with a blue robe pulled low over his head, but the Heroes recognized him the moment they laid eyes on him.

Leon had been found out, yet had no idea he'd been found out.

Even that was part of the act.

Alusion was developing by the day. It had now fully absorbed the Magitech Engineering of Levannas and advanced even further beyond it. On top of that, the technology of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire had also been analyzed and upgraded to suit Arsilan.

"Nice."

The beautiful fleet embroidering the skies above Alusion was a sight to behold. It wasn't as flashy or grand as the Kalsus Dimensional Empire's, but its clean design suited Arsilan's natural scenery remarkably well. It looked as though it had melted into the sky and the clouds.

Jinwoo went to Alusion's Central Plaza Station and boarded a train.

Countless Heroes and Arsilanians traveled back and forth by train, since there was a limit to the items that could be carried through a Hero's Flower.

It was a restriction he had put in place because of mana limitations, but now he had no intention of lifting it. Thanks to it, a more diverse yet balanced Arsilan had been able to take shape.

Jinwoo boarded the train and left Alusion behind. The area around Alusion was full of fairly sizable cities, all of them built by Heroes.

"Ooh...."

The cities came in all sorts of themes.

There were cities with a completely medieval fantasy feel, and cities that looked like exact copies of Seoul. The most eye-catching was a cyberpunk-style city.

Undead Heroes had attached all sorts of parts to their bodies and covered themselves in silvery metal. It was said to be a place where Undead Heroes mainly gathered, but quite a few regular Heroes and Arsilanians could be seen there as well.

Apparently it was famous as a tourist spot.

'Heroes can create quests in their territories too, so....'

The place was full of quests matching the city's theme.

"Artificial grilled meat for sale!"

"Sushi made with artificial fish, right here!"

Street stalls lined the area around the station.

He spotted some sushi that had a somewhat artificial look to it, and bought a plate.

One bite, and it was delicious.

That rich flavor found only in Arsilan's natural bounty!

There was no way this was artificial. Making food ingredients artificially would have been a tremendous waste. Just casting a line in the river was enough to catch plenty of fish. Arsilan had no parasites, and even if it did, no one would need to worry about them.

"Isn't this wild-caught...."

"We use specialty plastic tuna."

"Uh...."

"If you dip it in the mana engine oil in the sauce dish, you'll really taste the artificial flavor."

The undead chef making the sushi kept emphasizing how artificial it was.

"Ah, so that's the bit?"

When Jinwoo finished his meal, the chef sidled up next to him.

"Um..., could I get a picture with you?"

"Sorry? I'm just an ordinary Arsilanian."

"Ah! So that's your bit."

Murmur, murmur.

A buzz of voices rose behind him.

Jinwoo turned around.

A long line had formed.

It looked like everyone in the area had flocked over. Everyone who had recognized Jinwoo, apparently.

Well, that was part of the act too, so Jinwoo pulled off his robe with an awkward look on his face.

"WHOAAA!"

"Lord Leon!"

Leon was as popular as ever.

Even though he hadn't done anything particularly notable this episode, he held the unshakable number one spot in the popularity rankings. He had gone beyond being a symbol of Arsilan and the Sillion Empire to become their spiritual pillar.

In the end, Jinwoo had no choice but to stay there for quite a while, taking pictures with everyone.

One Arsilanian had come with a child.

The child's eyes sparkled as they looked at Jinwoo.

Jinwoo held the child in his arms and took a picture together with the child's parents.

The Arsilanians had known so much suffering, and even now quite a few of them still struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder. But the next generation was brimming with joy and happiness.

Jinwoo hoped the dimensional realm could change the way Arsilan had.

Once word spread that Leon, Emperor of Sillion, had ventured outside Alusion, crowds came pouring in. Signs went up at every train station, earnestly hoping for a visit from him.

After making a round of the largest territory cities, Jinwoo passed through Romance Territory and stood before the Hanu Sea.

The Hanu Sea had a charm that refreshed the heart just from looking at it.

It shimmered in many colors, and the clear energy the sea held turned into particles of light that scattered and soared up into the sky. It was even more enchanting at night. Those particles of light seeped into Arsilan's barrier, protecting Arsilan completely.

"You've become a true giant."

The Hanu Sea had now spread across the whole of Arsilan.

It had become a giant embracing all of Arsilan, a perfect shield standing guard over it.

Jinwoo sat right down and took fine liquor out of his subspace, along with treasures brought from the Kalsus Dimensional Empire and the Erosion's domain. When he set them down on the beach, the waves rolled in and carried the treasures away, as if picking them up by hand.

"What a joke this is. Me, becoming a god."

He was used to it by now, but it still felt surreal.

It really was true that anyone who lived long enough would see everything. Jinwoo closed his eyes, listening to the sound of the breaking waves.

The battles from here on out would be on an entirely different level. Jinwoo intended to protect the whole dimensional realm. To do that, he had to become far stronger than he was now.

"I can do this, right?"

The waves that had been lapping at the sand suddenly swelled and crashed over Jinwoo.

"Ugh...."

It had gotten straight through his defensive magic.

Since it posed no harm to him whatsoever, the defensive magic hadn't activated. He was soaked from head to toe. It felt as if the sea were scolding him for talking like a weakling.

Jinwoo let out a chuckle and rose to his feet.

That was when it happened.

Jinwoo's eyes went wide.

Countless hearts gathering from all directions turned into Sacred Power and settled into him. Light flowing in from far beyond the dimensional realm merged with Arsilan's light, forming a breathtakingly beautiful aurora that descended toward Jinwoo.

Small hopes and wishes.

The simple desire to be happy came through to Jinwoo, loud and clear.

Jinwoo closed his eyes and accepted all of those feelings. The Vengeful Spirits dwelling within him seemed to feel it too, lingering quietly at his side.

What should he do going forward?

As the god of Arsilan and Earth, and the evil god of the dimensional realm, Jinwoo could now see clearly what his goal should be.

"Right."

Jinwoo made up his mind.

The Kalsus Dimensional Empire and the Erosion each wanted to unify the dimensional realm on their own and leap up to a Higher Dimension. To that end, they had devoured or annihilated every dimension in their path, using them as fuel.

"It won't be easy, but...."

Under the name of Arsilan, he would unite the entire dimensional realm through joy and happiness. Some dimensions would push back, and plenty of places wouldn't take kindly to Arsilan.

But if, given enough time, his sincerity got through, then maybe, just maybe, they could all reach it together?

"A Higher Dimension. Let's give it a shot ourselves."

They had already accomplished things nearly everyone had written off as impossible. Together with the Heroes, the Arsilanians, and his companions, they could bring about a colossal miracle.

His true goal was set.

So the thing to do from here on was to make an even more enjoyable game.

A game the entire dimensional realm could take part in!

* * *

Jinwoo got some proper rest at home for the first time in a while. His older brother and sister-in-law, who lived in the mansion's annex, were as lovey-dovey as ever. His niece had grown a lot while he was away.

His niece's name was Narin.

The name supposedly meant a precious being sent down from heaven. The way she beamed and giggled at Jinwoo was unbearably cute.

'She's overflowing with a mage's aptitude? And she'd probably make it big going a different route, too.'

She was bursting with talent!

Enough that Jinwoo seriously considered giving her lessons someday. His brother's Arsilan Saga login rate had dropped from taking care of Narin, but he was still playing whenever he found a spare moment.

Narin refused to leave Jinwoo's arms.

"C-come to Daddy!"

His brother reached out to Narin, but

Fwip!

She turned her head away with absolute finality. The wounded look on his face was priceless. She wouldn't leave Jinwoo's arms until breakfast was served.

The whole family gathered for a meal together for the first time in ages.

While Jinwoo had left an automatic double running whenever he was away, it hadn't stayed at the mansion. It had been off on overseas business trips.

"Ahem. Jinwoo, my boy, don't spend all your time working."

Grandfather said, which was unusual for him.

In Grandfather's eyes, Jinwoo must have looked like he did nothing but work. And no wonder, considering Arsilan Saga's content was on an insane level.

Grandfather shot his brother a meaningful look.

At that, his brother launched into an awkward bit of acting.

"Ah! Uh, what was it? R-right! Th-these days when you go outside, it's all, all couples everywhere. Hahaha!"

His older sister watched him with a look that said he was hopeless, then spoke up.

"Are you seeing anyone these days?"

So that's what this was about.

They were worried about Jinwoo doing nothing but work. Everyone's eyes turned to him.

"No, work keeps me busy."

He hadn't had room for that sort of thing for the past hundred years and counting.

Once everything settled down and was running smoothly, he'd think about it then. At Jinwoo's answer, his brother snickered.

"Haha, live long enough and someone will come along who just hits you right out of nowhere! Hmm, though now that I think about it, anyone dating you would have to be a goddess at minimum. Oof!"

His sister-in-law jabbed his brother in the ribs.

"Let's eat."

At Grandfather's words, everyone picked up their spoons and chopsticks.

He could almost hear Narin, cradled in his sister-in-law's arms, letting out a sigh.

Jinwoo went in to work at FS Games.

FS Games was extremely busy preparing for the 4th anniversary event. The number of Heroes had long since blown past one billion and was charging toward two billion, so it was expected to be a worldwide festival.

Arsilan Saga had become a complete way of life.

Until now it had been called a second life, but it had fused so completely that it had become life itself. A life without Arsilan Saga was no longer even imaginable.

The world's leading scholars had all logged into Arsilan to conduct their research. Through the side-story content, they could run simulations exactly as designed, ones that would be impossible in reality.

'Which did create quite a few problems, admittedly.'

It was hard to handle real-world affairs while wearing a Soul Link. People needed helpers to take care of things in reality for them.

'Wouldn't my influence grow even more?'

Earth was a Higher Dimension.

It was the place that had increased Jinwoo's Authority and power the most. If it could fuse even more closely with Arsilan, the synergy would be enormous. It might not be addition, but multiplication.

It was an era where artificial bodies, artificial skin, and artificial organs were nothing out of the ordinary. Thanks to vigorous medical support programs, words like "visually impaired" and "hearing impaired" had become relics of a bygone age.

Even now, one particular video on Arsilan Worlds was still racking up views. Jinwoo played that video in the CEO's office for the first time in ages.

It was a video a Hero had filmed and uploaded himself.

The Hero, who had lost his sight at a very young age, saw the world for the first time in Arsilan.

[Whoa....]

The Hero was mesmerized by the light and the world he was seeing for the very first time.

Then, quite some time later, a follow-up video was uploaded.

The Hero, having received Artificial Eye implants, had posted footage of himself in the real world on Arsilan Worlds.

[Hey everyone, long time no see. You can see my eyes, right?]

On screen, irises glowing with rainbow light sat in the Hero's eyes.

[These things are insane. They've got a 100x zoom function. I can change the shape and color depending on my mood. And they even....]

The Hero switched off the lights in his room.

His eyes gleamed and glittered like a predator's.

[They glow in the dark! Plus I can see way better at night now. I'm betting these go mainstream soon, like LASIK.]

Anonymous1: They also came out with tech that corrects vision in your original eyes. No side effects, and your eyes end up way healthier. Gotta admit those are cool though.

Anonymous2: Can you do heart-shaped pupils?

└SeesWithHeart (OP): Wouldn't that look kinda gross on a guy though?

└Anonymous3: Honestly? Even better.

└SeesWithHeart (OP): What?

That was already two years ago now.

With tooth regeneration achieved and even dementia conquered, nothing that came out at this point would be surprising. Out of a wish for people to stay healthy and active for a long time, anti-aging technology had even been announced. Lifespans still had their limits, but at least people would be able to live their whole lives in good health.

Nuclear Fusion power plants had been rolled out across the globe, so energy problems had vanished as well.

"It should be fine to go public with it now."

With that thought, Jinwoo joined the meeting.

The 4th anniversary festival plans were in their final stage. All the preparations were finished and only the last adjustments remained, so everyone came into the meeting with a light heart.

He had left everything to Han Yong-seon, but naturally, Jinwoo still had to give the final sign-off.

"What do you think?"

"Mm, looks good."

It was a remarkably well-packed lineup.

The Heroes would love it. When Jinwoo said as much, Han Yong-seon and the staff broke into wide grins. All their hard work had paid off!

"That said...."

The moment those words left Jinwoo's mouth, Han Yong-seon flinched. So did the staff.

Jinwoo felt terribly sorry, but it was all for the Heroes. He'd just have to make it up to them with generous bonuses.

"There's something I'd like to add partway through the event. Would that be all right?"

"O-of course it would! We'll make it happen, no matter what!"

Han Yong-seon answered on the spot.

It meant more work, but Han Yong-seon and the staff were curious what the addition might be. Jinwoo almost never assigned extra work, and even when something did need adding, he usually took care of it all himself. It felt like he was relying on them, and that made them a little glad, too.

Jinwoo pulled up the materials he had prepared on the holographic display.

"Wha... what?!"

"No way...."

"I-is this actually possible?"

Creator God almighty!

Han Yong-seon and the staff could only stare at the materials in utter shock.
