Chapter 434: Underground Fighting Ring

Feng Qingwan wasn’t angry. Instead, she shot Chen Erbao a flirtatious glance.

“Don’t you have a girlfriend? That sophomore campus belle from Binhai University.”

Chen Erbao retorted,

“Who says you can only have one girlfriend? Can’t I look for another one?”

“Fine. Of course, you can.”

Feng Qingwan smiled, brushing her hair back to reveal a large expanse of her fair, smooth skin.

“You were able to handle that group of jocks with a single phone call, so you must have some connections. Plus, your skills are pretty good. I want to discuss a business deal with you.”

She was very direct, not one to beat around the bush.

Chen Erbao folded his arms and looked at her.

“Let’s hear it.”

“Since you’re here, you must be here to watch the fights, right? Let’s make a deal. You come with me as my hired fighter. If you win, I’ll give you half the prize. How about it?”

“…”

Chen Erbao was speechless. He never thought this woman would actually want him to be a fighter.

“Do I look like I’m short on cash?”

Chen Erbao pointed at the Bentley behind him, looking at Feng Qingwan like she was an idiot.

Feng Qingwan choked, a look of disappointment appearing on her face. She stomped her foot on the spot.

“Then what are you doing here…? Your skills are so good, why would you come here to watch fights?”

An idea suddenly struck Chen Erbao.

He said, feigning an air of mystery,

“I heard Huang Sanlang is presiding in there today. I want to discuss a business deal with him, but I don’t have an opportunity to get close to him. If you can introduce me, I’ll agree to your request.”

Feng Qingwan’s eyes lit up.

“That’s it? Don’t worry, I’m very familiar with Huang Sanlang. I can definitely get you an introduction. You just have to help me win one match…”

“Let’s go. My time is precious. I don’t want to waste any more of it.”

Chen Erbao took the lead and strode towards the clubhouse.

Feng Qingwan scurried after him, sidling up to Chen Erbao and asking curiously,

“I haven’t even asked your name yet.”

“Chen Haonan.”

Chen Erbao said without batting an eye.

Feng Qingwan burst out laughing.

“Why do you have the same name as that gangster from the movies?”

Chen Erbao shrugged.

“My master gave me the name. Nothing I can do about it.”

“Oh, oh… Are you some kind of incredible master? I’ve watched a lot of fights here, and I’ve never seen anyone move so fast. Yesterday, when you fought those jocks, it looked like you barely tried, and they were already done for.”

“I’m decent enough.”

‘This woman talks way too much. It’s kind of annoying.’

The two walked through the clubhouse entrance, and Chen Erbao carefully sized up the layout.

So far, the clubhouse looked quite normal. The lobby was staffed with hostesses. They were attractive and had great figures, but they had too much of a jaded, worldly air.

When the lobby manager saw Feng Qingwan, he waved his hand to dismiss the hostesses and then personally came forward to greet them.

“Miss Feng, here to watch the fights again today?”

“Mhm. Is Huang Sanlang here?”

“The Third Young Master just arrived. Do you need him for something?”

“No reason, just asking. We’re going to head down.”

Feng Qingwan was about to leave with Chen Erbao, but the lobby manager blocked their path.

He said, looking troubled,

“Miss Feng, this friend of yours looks unfamiliar. May I ask his background?”

Feng Qingwan’s brow furrowed, and she said impatiently,

“He’s my friend. You need to ask about that too?”

The lobby manager gave an awkward smile.

“We generally have to ask about strangers. It’s the rules…”

“Rules my ass! Get lost! I’m going in to win some money, so stop bothering me.”

Feng Qingwan showed him no courtesy whatsoever, cursing him out before leading Chen Erbao swaggering down the side passageway.

The lobby manager, having been thoroughly cursed out, wasn’t angry. He just kept a placating smile, bowing and scraping as he watched the two leave.

The passageway sloped downwards, ending at a massive iron door guarded by several burly bodyguards.

Chen Erbao gave Feng Qingwan a surprised look.

“You just cursed him out like that, and he didn’t even get mad?”

He didn’t get it. The lobby manager’s attitude seemed a little *too* accommodating.

Feng Qingwan looked unhappy, as if she didn’t want to answer the question. But after a moment’s thought, she explained,

“I’ve lost nearly twenty million here. He dares to get angry? The fact that I haven’t torn his place down is me giving the Huang Family face!”

“…”

‘This hot-tempered girl might be a little unhinged.’

Arriving at the large iron door, a bodyguard picked up a walkie-talkie, asked for confirmation, and only then opened the door.

The moment the door opened, a wave of clamor washed over them. Chen Erbao narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze sweeping the surroundings as he grew a bit more cautious.

Behind the door was an enclosed underground space, about half the size of a soccer field, and it was bustling with activity.

Gambling tables lined the sides, each surrounded by a dozen or so people shouting excitedly. Stacks of red banknotes were being thrown around on the tabletops in a scene of pure extravagance.

In the center of the space was a massive stage.

Bright lights hung from the ceiling, illuminating the entire underground space. Black-suited bodyguards stood at intervals around the perimeter, watching the area and maintaining order.

“So lively!”

Chen Erbao exclaimed. At a glance, there had to be nearly a hundred people.

Feng Qingwan went to the counter, first exchanging for a hundred thousand or so in chips. She then tossed a few tens of thousands’ worth to Chen Erbao and explained,

“The people who can play here are all rich second-generation kids with status in Binhai. It may not look like a lot of people, but their spending power is immense. This underground fight club has a monthly turnover of several hundred million, and with the Huang Family backing it, it’s considered the biggest fight club in the Binhai area.”

She looked at Chen Erbao and said seriously,

“Are you sure you want to go up there and fight? I’m warning you in advance, if you die up there, don’t blame me. It’s not too late to back out now.”

‘I didn’t expect this fiery girl to actually show some concern for me.’ He smiled.

“If I don’t go up and fight, will you still introduce me to Huang Sanlang?”

“Like I’ve got nothing better to do!”

Feng Qingwan rolled her eyes and said bluntly.

Chen Erbao nodded.

“Then it’s settled. As long as I win one match, you’ll introduce me to Huang Sanlang. I hope you keep your word.”

He paused, looking at Feng Qingwan seriously. His eyes were calm, but his words carried a hint of coldness.

“If you dare to trick me, the consequences will be severe… I don’t care which family’s precious daughter you are.”

Startled by his intensity, Feng Qingwan unconsciously avoided his direct gaze. However, she quickly composed herself, licked the corner of her lips, her eyes now filled with a strange, excited light.

“Don’t worry. I won’t go back on my word.”

Chen Erbao nodded, took the sign-up board from Feng Qingwan, and wrote his name on it.

After the clerk took the board, they typed something into a computer. Soon, the words “Feng Qingwan – Chen Haonan” flashed across the large electronic screen hanging above the hall.

“Alright, you’re registered. Let’s go play in the hall for a bit while we wait for the matches to start.”

Feng Qingwan led Chen Erbao towards the gambling tables.
