The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 368: Eavesdropping
Chen Erbao felt that Bai Xiaoqing's usual sharpness had completely vanished.
As they walked back, they encountered several children selling flowers. Without exception, they were all dressed plainly, just like the little girl from before.
Bai Xiaoqing's heart went out to them. She bought a flower from every child she saw, and by the time they had walked down the entire street, her arms were full of flowers.
Chen Erbao led Bai Xiaoqing back to the town entrance, told her to wait in the car, and then grabbed a jacket and put it on.
"Where are you going?"
Bai Xiaoqing asked curiously, seeing that Chen Erbao didn't seem to be getting ready to leave.
Chen Erbao said,
"Rest in the car for a bit. Wait for me to come back."
"Wait..."
Before Bai Xiaoqing could even speak, there was a blur, and Chen Erbao had already vanished.
'How strange…'
She muttered to herself, but she didn't run off. She obediently sat in the car and waited for Chen Erbao.
...
Evening fell, and the number of tourists in the small town dwindled. Soon, there were only a few scattered people on the streets, and most of the shops had already closed early.
The temperature had dropped sharply recently, and the weather was turning foul. It looked like it was about to rain.
Chen Erbao's figure flickered like a phantom, zipping through the town. Using the dim light as cover, he quickly arrived at the spot where they had met the little girl.
He looked around, but the group of children who had been selling flowers earlier was nowhere to be seen.
However, Chen Erbao didn't panic. He hid his figure behind a shop's pillar, and a faint white glow appeared in his eyes.
Simultaneously, he could clearly perceive the location he had marked with his Divine Sense.
'It's moving rapidly, deeper into the town!'
"Hmph!"
Chen Erbao had a good idea of what was happening. He quickly returned to the car and, under Bai Xiaoqing's astonished gaze, slammed his foot on the gas. The Land Rover roared to life and shot out onto the road, heading toward a more remote area.
"Er Bao, this isn't the way back to the city, is it?"
Bai Xiaoqing's sense of direction was reasonably sharp, and she could tell Chen Erbao was driving deeper into the suburbs.
Chen Erbao nodded. "Found something interesting. Let's go check it out!"
"???"
Though she was full of doubt, Bai Xiaoqing didn't ask any more questions. Instead, a trace of curiosity and excitement appeared in her eyes.
They had been driving for no more than ten minutes when a series of deep rumbles came from the sky above.
Immediately after, huge raindrops began to pour down.
In just a dozen seconds, the world turned into a sheet of white. Visibility dropped instantly amid the driving wind and rain, flashing lightning, and booming thunder.
Chen Erbao could clearly sense the target he had marked with his Divine Sense getting closer and closer. The storm was clearly slowing them down.
He slammed on the accelerator, not slowing down in the slightest, and barreled through the curtain of rain, speeding along the country road.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Bai Xiaoqing's heart pounded in her chest. She watched the dense raindrops pelting the windshield, extremely worried. "Er Bao, slow down..."
Chen Erbao, who was focused on driving, heard Bai Xiaoqing's words and nearly drove the car into a ditch.
'Why does that sound so familiar?'
'Slow down?'
But now wasn't the time to dwell on such things. He seized the moment to reach over to the passenger seat, and his hand found its way to Bai Xiaoqing's thigh.
Although her stockings were in the way, Chen Erbao still gave her thigh a couple of reluctant squeezes and said comfortingly,
"Don't worry. Have you forgotten? I'm a Cultivator!"
This time, Bai Xiaoqing didn't push away Chen Erbao's misbehaving hand, letting him stroke her thigh.
Another ten minutes passed. The rain gradually lessened, and a faint light appeared in the distance.
They had reached a small county town!
A tiny, backwater county town under the jurisdiction of Sanjiang City.
At this point, Chen Erbao also saw his target.
A solid black van. Its windows were covered with dark tinting film, making it impossible to see what was inside.
After entering the county town, the van twisted and turned before finally stopping in front of a dilapidated factory building.
Chen Erbao slowed down, parked the car on the street, and unbuckled his seatbelt.
"You wait here for me. I have some business to take care of. I'll be back soon."
Chen Erbao instructed Bai Xiaoqing in the passenger seat.
"No... can I go with you?"
Bai Xiaoqing subconsciously grabbed Chen Erbao's hand and said nervously.
It was pitch-black all around, without even any streetlights. It was as if terrifying demons were hiding in the dark shadows, ready to leap out and devour a person's soul at any moment.
Chen Erbao hesitated for a moment before finally nodding in agreement.
After turning off the engine, Chen Erbao opened his door, took Bai Xiaoqing's soft hand, and lightened his steps, slowly approaching the distant factory.
Turning into a small alley, a foul smell hit them. It was like an uncleaned garbage dump, reeking of decay.
Bai Xiaoqing covered her nose in disgust and leaned closer to Chen Erbao.
Although it was pitch-black all around, Chen Erbao's Divine Sense allowed him to see everything clearly, so he wasn't worried about tripping.
The muddy path after the rain quickly dirtied Chen Erbao's shoes, but he didn't care since the hotel offered a shoe cleaning service.
The two of them soon reached the factory entrance. The cold, iron gate was shut tight, and it was dark and unlit behind it.
Chen Erbao sensed that his Divine Sense marker was inside the factory, so he reached out and pushed open the iron gate in front of them.
"CREEAK!"
The old gate let out a sharp noise, but with a flicker of his Spiritual Power, Chen Erbao completely muffled the sound.
Bai Xiaoqing looked around cautiously.
"Er Bao, what are we doing here?"
She still had no idea why Chen Erbao had brought her here!
"You'll know in a minute."
Chen Erbao pulled her hand and walked into the factory.
The dilapidated building was drafty, and rats could occasionally be seen scurrying out from the corners, scaring Bai Xiaoqing into hugging Chen Erbao's arm tightly.
Her two soft mounds pressed against his arm, and Chen Erbao couldn't resist shifting it to rub against them a couple of times, earning him an eye-roll from Bai Xiaoqing.
"Behave!"
They had only taken a few steps when Chen Erbao suddenly heard a strange sound:
"Ngh... ahh..."
"???"
This kind of sound was not unfamiliar to Chen Erbao, and his expression turned peculiar.
Bai Xiaoqing heard the sound too, and her face flushed slightly.
'She was very familiar with this sound, too!'
'She had eavesdropped on Chen Erbao and Lin Zhiqing several times, and the sounds had been much clearer than this!'
The two exchanged a look. Bai Xiaoqing lowered her head in embarrassment, though her nervousness eased a little.
After passing through another hall, the sounds became even clearer.
The two of them peeked out, and Chen Erbao couldn't help but click his tongue twice.
A skinny man was holding onto two fair, tender thighs, endlessly thrusting his hips.
The man's body blocked the woman, so her face couldn't be seen, but Chen Erbao's imagination filled in the details of her heaving chest.
He was instantly aroused.
Bai Xiaoqing's face flushed red, and she quickly pulled her head back. Seeing Chen Erbao still watching with rapt attention, she couldn't help but pinch him lightly again.
