The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 305: Gesang's Promotion
Business in the Triangle Zone hadn't been great lately. Perhaps it was because of a certain someone, but most of the Gold Medal Assassins in the Triangle Zone had gone to ground.
But there were still a few assassins who enjoyed the thrill of hovering between life and death, and they were still desperately taking on missions.
The handler from the Northeast hadn't received a call in a long time. For the past ten-odd days, he'd been glued to his phone, playing games and scrolling through videos, living a life of leisure.
'This kind of life isn't so bad, actually. The base salary is a bit low, but in a godforsaken place like this, a prostitute only costs a few dozen bucks. Two thousand a month is more than enough!'
Last month, he'd gotten unbelievably lucky. He ran into three morons who all wanted to buy a hit on the same person, and the commission for all three jobs went to him. At the end of the month, the Fat Pig Manager, in an unprecedented move, treated him to a night at the Yihong Courtyard and even gave him eight hundred yuan!
With the help of those few hundred yuan, his life had been quite comfortable lately!
He expertly opened his game and logged in.
The off-season was always his time to dominate the canyon and showcase his skills. He'd used these opportunities to grind his way up to the top Star tier.
He even fantasized that if he ever retired, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go back to China and become a professional gamer.
At least it would be a hundred times better than this shitty job.
If he had a second chance, he definitely wouldn't have believed the bullshit from his third cousin's neighbor's childhood friend's brother-in-law and traveled thousands of miles to this backwater gulch, only to get stuck here for three years before he could leave.
Puffing on a villager's hand-rolled cigarette, he selected his best hero.
As time passed, a fierce team fight was about to erupt.
'The enemy mid-laner is strong. If he initiates on me, it's over... Shit!'
He hadn't even finished speaking when the landline in front of him started ringing.
The moment the phone rang, a handler had to answer it immediately. That was the rule. Anyone who didn't follow the rules could go take a look at the mass grave on the back hill. The predecessors were all lying in there!
Watching helplessly as the enemy mid-laner landed a CC ability right on his head, the handler's mouth twisted in anger.
He had played so cautiously for most of the match, and now it was all ruined!
"Who is it?!"
He snatched up the receiver, grinding his teeth.
"Gesang."
A cold, deep voice came from the other end of the line.
The handler froze for a moment before he remembered who Gesang was.
'Isn't that the motherfucking new Gold Medal Assassin from our own organization?'
'Do assassins really need to hire other people to kill someone these days?'
'Is it that hard to earn money? Can't he do it himself?'
Though filled with rage, he didn't dare actually lose his temper with one of his own organization's Gold Medal Assassins. He was just a worthless handler; his life wasn't even worth as much as the village watchdog's. If he pissed off a Gold Medal Assassin and the guy came over and killed him with a single slash, no one would dare say a word.
"Mr. Gesang, you know, this is against the rules... How can you be calling my line directly?"
"Cut the crap. There haven't been many contracts lately. If any new ones come in, send them directly to me. Don't bother with anyone else!"
Gesang's tone was completely flat, as cold as a robot's.
The handler was completely dumbfounded. 'Is this even allowed?'
"Mr. Gesang, if the other Gold Medal Assassins find out, they'll kill me!"
"Just say I snatched it from you. If anyone has a problem with it, tell them to come find me!"
"But..."
The handler stared at the receiver in his hand, utterly speechless.
'Fuck's sake, he was just a nobody. Why did this kind of trouble have to land on him?'
A month ago, Gesang was still a Level 1 Assassin. But just a few days ago, he'd supposedly killed a famous Samurai in the Neon Country, and the organization had promoted him to Gold Medal Assassin.
A ruthless man like that was bound to be incredibly arrogant. Even if he were a hundred times braver, the handler wouldn't dare to call back and argue.
With no other choice, he dialed his direct supervisor.
"Manager? Are you busy?"
he asked in a low voice, a sycophantic smile on his face.
"Ah... Ahhh..."
A woman's moans came from the other end of the line, along with the manager's panting.
After three seconds of waiting, he heard the manager let out a muffled grunt, followed by heavy, ragged breathing.
"Honey, I want more~"
"I'm not feeling it today. Next time!"
the Fat Pig Manager explained on his end.
'Minute man. Serves you right if you drop dead in bed one day, fuck!'
the handler cursed internally.
"Zhao Si? Are you fucking crazy, calling me this late at night?"
the Fat Pig Manager's voice sounded weak.
Zhao Si wiped his sweat and explained cautiously, "Manager, Mr. Gesang just called me..."
"What the fuck kind of name... wait, Gesang? Why did he call you?"
The manager stopped mid-curse, freezing for a second as he remembered who Gesang was. He quickly swallowed his words.
The handler, Zhao Si, chose his words carefully. "Mr. Gesang told me to pass on a message to you. He said that for any new contracts that come in, I should send them directly to him and not report them up..."
"..."
The line went silent.
"Is that really what he said?"
"Yes, Manager. He has absolutely no respect for you. What if the other Gold Medal Assassins come looking for trouble with us?"
Zhao Si feigned indignation on the manager's behalf.
The Fat Pig Manager sighed. "Isn't there that tricky mission in China? The one Charles failed. Forward it to him."
"Manager, we offered it to other Gold Medal Assassins before. The moment they heard Charles almost died in China, they refused on the spot. Will Gesang even agree to it?"
"Who the hell cares if he agrees? Just forward it. He's the one who wants a mission, right? We'll give it to him. If he doesn't dare to take it, he can't blame us!"
"Alright..."
Zhao Si was secretly pleased. If Gesang actually completed the mission, he'd get a bonus too. He couldn't wait for Gesang to set off.
"That's settled then. I'm busy!"
"Of course, you get back to it~"
...
After leaving Medicine King Hall, Chen Erbao checked the time. Seeing it was still early, he hired a designated driver to take him to the factory in the suburbs.
After all, he'd more or less won over a whole bunch of women, but he hadn't made much progress with Bai Xiaoqing. He needed to pick up the pace!
Just thinking about Bai Xiaoqing and Xia Qingxue's stunningly beautiful faces made Chen Erbao feel a thrill of excitement.
If one day he could have both of those women kneeling at his crotch, their two little tongues...
The more Chen Erbao thought about it, the harder he got. It was frustrating as hell!
The car arrived at Factory Number One. The security guards recognized Chen Erbao's big Range Rover and quickly opened the barrier, bowing with big smiles.
Chen Erbao rolled down his window, handed each of them a cigarette, and then headed straight for Bai Xiaoqing's office.
He hadn't told Lin Zhiqing he was coming, but she was usually with Bai Xiaoqing. Since it was almost the end of the workday, the two of them should still be together.
As he walked through the factory, most of the employees didn't recognize Chen Erbao. However, when they saw the seven or eight new professional managers all greeting him, they began to speculate about his identity.
After two rounds of recruitment, the factory's assembly lines had a lot more people, especially young people who had graduated from vocational or technical schools.
And among these new hires, the majority were women.
It was a cosmetics factory, after all, which held a greater appeal for women.
Furthermore, Bai Xiaoqing had established a rule that internal staff could enjoy a 20% discount on purchases.
Most of the young women had come for that very reason!
