The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 284: Use Titles at Work
Chen Erbao pushed open the door and went inside, where he saw seven or eight people sitting in front of Bai Xiaoqing's desk, arguing nonstop.
"President Chen!"
When Bai Xiaoqing saw Chen Erbao enter, her face immediately lit up. She stood and called out to him respectfully.
The other seven or eight people heard Bai Xiaoqing's title for him and froze for a moment. Then, they realized that the young man who had just walked in was the real boss behind the Dream Fantasia mud mask!
'The big boss is so young!'
It was a thought that crossed all their minds.
"President Chen, you're back!"
Bai Xiaoqing came around her desk, quickly led Chen Erbao to the sofa, and began busying herself with making tea.
The others also came forward and called out in unison:
"Hello, President Chen!"
Chen Erbao sized them up, nodded in satisfaction, and sat down on the sofa, with Lin Zhiqing taking a seat beside him.
"President Chen, these are the professional managers I've recruited. Each has over two years of work experience and has been studying under me for a long time. They're all clear on the factory's basic procedures and can start at any time."
"Good. The new factories are about to be built. Everyone, since Xiaoqing has already explained everything, I won't repeat it all. I only have one requirement: follow my plan and replicate this factory exactly. I'll pay you the same salary as Xiaoqing. I hope you will all work hard!"
Hearing this, everyone stood a little straighter and said earnestly, "Don't worry, President Chen. We're definitely up to the task!"
Ordinarily, Chen Erbao would have invited them all out for a meal to build some rapport, but time was too tight. It would have to wait. He disliked long, rambling speeches, so he just nodded. "Please, everyone have a seat... I heard you arguing from outside. Does there seem to be a disagreement on company matters?"
Bai Xiaoqing didn't say anything, instead turning her gaze toward the others.
The expressions of the two men closest to Chen Erbao shifted slightly, and their words grew much more cautious.
"President Chen, we've been following Manager Bai for the last few days and are now completely familiar with the factory's operations. However, I feel the proportion of two of the medicinal ingredients could be reduced. The testing department has run tests, and there was no significant difference in the effect..."
After the man finished, Chen Erbao nodded, not giving the matter much thought.
'It's just a small matter.'
"You all can handle it. For small issues like this, just discuss it amongst yourselves. As long as there are no problems with the final product, it's fine. But let me be blunt now to avoid any unpleasantness later: if anyone's factory has a problem, don't blame me for being merciless."
"Understood!"
...
After chatting with the managers in Bai Xiaoqing's office for a while, Chen Erbao said goodbye to Lin Zhiqing and returned to Bailong Village alone.
Around eight o'clock that evening, Chen Erbao finally arrived home.
He had already texted Zhao Ruoying on the way.
"Ruoying, baby, I'm back!"
"Oh."
Zhao Ruoying was as cold as ever, but Chen Erbao didn't mind. That was just her personality—stubborn as hell. Once they were in bed, however, she was the one who took the lead.
Just as Chen Erbao reached the village entrance, he "happened" to run into Zhao Ruoying on her way home from work.
Bailong Village was near Bailong Mountain, so the temperature was starting to drop. The days were still hot, but the nights had a pleasant chill, creating a significant temperature swing.
Zhao Ruoying was wearing a modest, formal outfit layered under a thin, coffee-colored trench coat. Riding her mountain bike, she looked incredibly dashing and full of spirit.
Chen Erbao turned the steering wheel and pulled up beside Zhao Ruoying. He slowly lowered the window and grinned. "Ruoying, were you waiting here for me?"
Zhao Ruoying had already spotted the BMW. She recognized it as Lin Zhiqing's car, and her expression immediately turned cold. She huffed, "Address me by my title during work hours!"
"..."
Chen Erbao hadn't expected her to be so stubborn. He reached out the window and gave her plump, shapely rear a smack. "It's been a while. Did you miss me?"
Zhao Ruoying's body trembled from the slap. She whipped her head around nervously, scanning the area. Seeing that no one was around, she slapped Chen Erbao's hand away, her beautiful eyes glaring at him. "What do you think you're doing?!"
Chen Erbao chuckled lewdly. "Just checking to see if you've had another growth spurt!"
"..."
Faced with Chen Erbao's shameless persistence, Zhao Ruoying was completely exasperated. Swaying her hips, she pedaled away without looking back.
"Wait for me tonight!"
Chen Erbao called out to her retreating figure.
Zhao Ruoying's long legs pedaled even faster, and she quickly sped away.
Sitting in the car, Chen Erbao watched Zhao Ruoying's retreating figure, his mind filled with images of the pale, supple body beneath her clothes. He couldn't help but get rock-hard.
Thinking of Fang Yun and Qiu Shuzhen waiting at home, Chen Erbao felt like a fierce battle awaited him tonight.
But it didn't matter. He had faith in his "little brother."
When he reached his front gate, Chen Erbao let out a long breath. He got out of the car and looked at the familiar courtyard walls, a sense of peace washing over him.
He pushed open the gate and found the living room brightly lit.
To the left of the courtyard, a large kennel had been built at some point. It housed several dozen large, ferocious wolfdogs, each with a powerful build and a vicious gaze.
When they saw Chen Erbao enter, the dozens of wolfdogs erupted in a chorus of "BARK BARK BARK!" The sound was deafening and instantly carried far into the distance.
Like a contagion, the dogs next door started barking in response. Before long, every dog in the village had joined the chorus.
The other dogs had no idea what was happening; they just knew that if one dog was barking, they were supposed to join in!
Fang Yun and Chen Dabao were in the living room making dinner. They knew Chen Erbao was returning tonight and had been preparing for some time.
Hearing the barking from the courtyard, the two of them hurried outside. Sure enough, Chen Erbao was standing in front of the kennel.
"Er Bao, when did you get home?!"
Fang Yun wiped her delicate hands on her apron, walked over, and pulled Chen Erbao close to look him over. "You've been gone for just a short while, and you've already lost weight..." she said, her voice full of concern. "I'll make you some chicken soup over the next few days to help you build your strength back up!"
"..."
Chen Erbao was speechless.
'With my physique, do I really need building up?'
Ever since he started his Cultivation, his body shape had basically stayed the same. He might not look like some brawny, muscle-bound hunk from TV, but the energy contained within him was terrifying. How could he possibly lose weight from just one trip?
But he knew this was just her way of showing she cared, so he nodded. "Thank you, Sister-in-law."
"Er Bao, you're back."
Chen Dabao, as taciturn as ever, stood on the steps, his gaze filled with pride as he looked at his younger brother.
With someone like Chen Erbao in the Chen Family, it was as if their ancestors themselves were smiling down on them, a sign of incredible fortune.
"Big Brother, is this all of them?"
Chen Erbao asked, pointing at the kennel.
Chen Dabao scratched his head. "There are still a few dozen more. They'll be delivered in a couple of days... The land up on the mountain has been tilled, too, and the fences and shelters are all built."
