The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 170: Taekwondo Black Belt

  • Next Chapter

Just as Chen Erbao left, a man pushed open the door to the coffee shop. He scanned the room, and his eyes lit up the moment he spotted Lin Zhiqing.

"Hello, beautiful lady. May I sit here?"

He flashed what he clearly thought was a dashing smile, walked over to Lin Zhiqing's side, and asked in a gentlemanly manner.

Lin Zhiqing had encountered this kind of situation far too many times growing up. She was experienced in dealing with it. Without even looking up, she said flatly:

"This seat is taken."

A normal person would have left by now, but this man was clearly not normal.

"That's alright, I can squeeze in."

"…"

Lin Zhiqing looked up, frowning at the man before her.

'How can someone be so clueless?'

"Sorry, we don't want to be crowded."

"I can just sit in the aisle. I won't disturb you."

The man was settling for the next best thing. No matter what, he was determined to get closer.

Lin Zhiqing frowned in annoyance. Just as she was trying to figure out how to refuse him, her eyes suddenly lit up. She waved at Chen Erbao, who was walking out of the restroom.

Chen Erbao strolled over, saw the man standing there, and asked Lin Zhiqing:

"Who's this guy?"

"I don't know him."

Seeing Chen Erbao emerge, the man didn't back down. Instead, he smiled confidently, pulled a card from his pocket, and offered it.

"Hello, sir. I'm the Director of Human Resources for the XX Group. This is my business card."

Chen Erbao was in a good mood today, so he took the card, glanced at it, and set it aside.

"Oh."

"…"

The man was a bit embarrassed, but he quickly composed himself.

"May I ask what your relationship is with this young lady?"

Chen Erbao grabbed Lin Zhiqing's hand, shook it at the man, and said with feigned flippancy:

"Find someone else, buddy. This one's taken."

Lin Zhiqing wasn't angry at all. In fact, she leaned into Chen Erbao's embrace and giggled nonstop.

The man's mouth twitched.

"My friend, don't you think that's a bit crude? Women are magnificent beings, not property for you to show off and compete over!"

Chen Erbao froze for a second. His good mood was so intact that the man's words almost made him laugh out loud.

'It's been a long time since I've heard someone speak without any thought, purely on primal instinct!'

He looked at the man like he was an idiot.

"Are you a fucking idiot? What nonsense are you spouting…"

The man's face flushed red, and he raised his voice.

"You… Your language is too vulgar! You're not worthy of this elegant and beautiful lady."

His voice attracted the attention of the other patrons, who all turned to look.

'Idiots are everywhere,' Chen Erbao sighed. 'It's so annoying!'

He shot a glance at Lin Zhiqing, only to find her nestled in his arms, smiling like a sly fox.

'Trouble follows beauty!' Chen Erbao lamented internally.

"Are you deaf or just stupid? Get lost and stop bothering us while we're having coffee. If you don't scram now, I'll beat your ass!"

His patience was wearing thin.

The man slammed his hand on the table.

"Are you really going to hit someone in public? Although I don't like to solve problems with violence, I'd advise you not to fight me. I'm a Taekwondo black belt!"

A smug smile spread across the man's face.

Chen Erbao kicked him.

"BANG!"

Chen Erbao didn't use his full strength, but the kick was still fast. The man had clearly trained before and hastily tried to block it. But just as he raised his arm, a powerful force struck his stomach. He was sent stumbling backward, bumped into a nearby vase, lost his balance, and fell flat on his butt.

'So fast!'

The man wasn't injured, just stunned. He looked at Chen Erbao in shock, got up, dusted himself off, and said seriously:

"It seems you are also a master. A pleasure to meet you!"

'This guy's so pretentious,' Chen Erbao thought. 'He's been putting on an act from the beginning. Even his fighting talk is all formal and bookish. You'd think he was preparing for a grad school exam!'

"Scram now, or the next time won't be as simple as just taking a fall."

With Chen Erbao's current level of martial skill, taking on a so-called black belt was practically bullying.

The man showed no fear. He adopted a fighting stance and said solemnly:

"I was careless just now. Let's go again. Bring your best shot!"

The commotion they were making was big enough to attract the coffee shop's owner.

"Hey, you can't do this in here…"

Before he could finish, the man tossed a bank card onto the table.

"There's thirty million in there. Whatever gets damaged, just charge it to this!"

After saying that, he even struck a pose.

It had to be said, that line was delivered with impressive flair. It was just a shame it would have been more perfect if he hadn't just been knocked on his ass.

Chen Erbao stood up with a sigh and rolled his shoulders.

Lin Zhiqing looked slightly worried.

"He's a black belt. Can you beat him?"

"Gotta fight him even if I can't!"

Chen Erbao shrugged.

Hearing this, Lin Zhiqing hesitated.

"If you can't beat him… just hide behind me. He wouldn't hit a woman, would he!"

"…"

A dark look crossed Chen Erbao's face.

'If I really hid behind a woman, how could I ever show my face again?'

"Don't worry. Didn't you see what happened at the car dealership? Ordinary people are no match for me."

"But he's a black belt."

"Black belt my ass!"

Chen Erbao said with disdain.

If he were a Sanda, Judo, or wrestling master, he might have taken the guy a bit more seriously. But a Taekwondo black belt…

Not even worth mentioning!

"Watch out, I'm coming!"

The man even gave Chen Erbao a warning before attacking, only launching a high kick after he finished speaking.

"You're a pretty nice guy, actually."

Chen Erbao was too exasperated to comment, simply sidestepping to dodge the high kick.

If he had wanted to attack just now, a simple 'Monkey Steals the Peach' would have put this guy on the ground.

But using that move on another man felt a little gross to him.

Once the man regained his footing, Chen Erbao took a single step forward and slammed into him with an Iron Mountain Lean.

"CRASH… CLATTER…"

The man's vision blurred as he was sent flying, crashing through two rows of tables behind him and shattering a glass partition before landing dizzily on the floor.

"Boss, he said he'd pay for everything. Just use his card. It's got nothing to do with us."

The owner, cowering in the distance, indicated that was okay.

'Of course it was okay! How could it not be?!'

'The guy was nearly six feet tall and probably weighed a good one-eighty, but Chen Erbao sent him flying with one hit. The owner knew his own small frame wouldn't be able to take that.'

The owner, who had been debating whether to call the police, went over and helped the man sit up.

"I'm not fighting you anymore. It's just bullying at this point. Go home and train for another two and a half years before you try again."

Chen Erbao took Lin Zhiqing's hand, grabbed their coffees, and left.

He left the man sitting amidst the broken glass, completely bewildered.

'The first time, he could at least see the attack coming. This time, he didn't see a thing. He just felt like he'd been hit head-on by a high-speed train and sent airborne!'

The owner asked him twice if he was alright. After confirming the man was fine, he happily went to swipe the card.

'Free new tables and chairs? How could he not be happy!'

After the owner left, the man struggled to his feet and went to the restroom.

He made a call.

"He's very strong. Tell the master to be careful."

The man recounted the entire fight in detail.

"Yes. Understood."

A single, emotionless reply came from the other end of the line.
