Chapter 103: Returning to the Village

After coming down the mountain, Chen Dabao immediately led a dozen men to search along the valley while the others went back to notify everyone.

By a little after seven p.m., Fang Yun and the others heard the terrible news. Their faces turned pale with fright. Grabbing torches, they followed the main group into the mountains to search for the two who had fallen off the cliff.

When Chen Daniu, the former village chief, heard the news, he was scared to death. He had been playing mahjong but jumped right up and immediately mobilized the entire village to head into the mountains that very night to find them.

He knew all about Zhao Ruoying's background. She'd only been in office for a few days before disaster struck. Even if it had nothing to do with him, he would still be implicated!

Chen Dabao was the first to hear the voice. He leaped up in excitement, grabbed a shovel and a machete, and charged ahead.

The few people next to him exchanged glances, their eyes full of disbelief.

They hurried to catch up.

Before long, everyone had gathered together.

"Er Bao, I knew you were okay!"

Chen Dabao and Fang Yun spotted Chen Erbao from a distance and ran straight over.

Lin Rui and Qiu Shuzhen were with them as well.

Qiu Shuzhen had followed them in as well.

He quickly untied the piece of lace and stuffed it into his shirt pocket.

Qiu Shuzhen paused, her eyes wide with surprise.

"Er Bao, you even got with the new Village Chief...?"

She had long known that Chen Erbao was bold—otherwise, he never would have put her and Qin Lan together...

'But the new Village Chief is a college student with powerful connections...'

"Sister in law Shuzhen, what are you talking about... It was just an emergency measure..."

Seeing Chen Erbao's flustered explanation, Qiu Shuzhen couldn't help but laugh.

Hearing footsteps outside the door, Qiu Shuzhen quickly sat down on a stool.

Lin Rui walked over, carrying a small case.

"Yes, just put it here."
