Chapter 581 - D
Ethan side...
"Are we wrong...?" Watching the person from the other side of the one-sided mirror, Ethan Lu sighed in dismay.
The rider who nearly caused them accident earlier kept saying it was unintentional. He said he was just driving recklessly because he was frustrated about something. The man kept on telling them he fled away due to fear of what he had done.
"Master..." Lyrick Jiang looked at his master's back with eyes full of worry. He then shifted his gaze back to the scene ahead, setting his eyes on Churu's side profile.
For some reason, Churu insisted to do the investigation. Of course, Ethan Lu was against it at first as he wanted to entrust this matter to the authorities. However, after their talk, Churu managed to make him agree.
Therefore, Ethan Lu had to use his connections to meddle with this matter himself. Yet, what was happening inside the interrogation room, they get nothing but doubt.
Was they were just overthinking? Was they were just so alerted by the occurrence that they were persecuting the wrong man?
"But Mister, the road is wide... how come you drove with that speed inches away from our master's vehicle?" Inside the interrogation room, Churu blinked her eyes as she tilted her head to the side.
Although the man was appalled that he was being questioned by a young woman, he couldn't neglect that she was terrifying despite her harmless visage. Moreover, her superhuman strength was still in question.
"I —"
"Mister, are you telling the truth?" As the man stuttered, Churu's eyes constricted which made the man's whole figure stiffen.
Both knew that the man was good at concealing the truth. Churu and himself knew that it wasn't his first time being interrogated in his life. However, it has been a long time since he showed nervousness when under question.
"Y — ye—"
"Hmm?" Before he could finish his answer, Churu hummed a tune as she leaned closer to him.
"Y - yes! I didn't mean to cause Mr. Lu trouble. If only I know it was his car, I would have drive more carefully!" Mustering his courage, the man affirmed. Yet, his answer made the corner of Churu's lips curl upward.
"Mister, how did you know who was inside the car?" Grinning smugly, Churu asked. The man instantly froze as he had a slipped of the tongue out of anxiousness. "Sir, I never mentioned who was my master and neither did you see him present. So, how can you explain that you knew who was inside the car?" Drawing closer, Churu's eyes glinted.
The man's heart leapt to his throat and as Churu leaned closer, he gaze at the pair of her argent eye. When those silver orbs glinted, the man saw a horrible image.
Beneath those beautiful argent eyes, the man saw hundreds... no, thousands of people screaming for help. Or rather, they weren't screaming for help, instead, shouting as they welcome him. They were burning in the middle of cold winter — it was hell. Thus, the man could not utter a single word because of fear.
He only snapped when Churu knocked on the table separating them. "Mister, can you answer me truthfully this time?" Churu asked politely as a sweet smile formed on her lips.
"I..." Despite his trembling lips, the man forced himself to speak as the person before him seemed to appear as a demon in disguise. "I... I'm sorry!" As his racing heart and fear consumed him, the man could only plead as he bowed his head hard.
His sudden apology and action caused a loud sound as his forehead directly slammed on the surface of the table. Shorty after, little blood trickled down from his forehead.
"Please forgive me! I only took up the request to give Mr. Lu a scare — I don't kno—"
"You don't know where it came from?" Despite his pitiful situation, Churu's eyes were cold. She didn't like that the man kept on lying as she knew he knew more than he was claiming.
She could feel it and smell it from his blood. The man was well-informed and was capable he would get away. Too bad, Churu was the one who caught her.
"I — I do..." Hearing the last straw to protect the information he knew break, the man hanged his head low. He couldn't lie to this woman.
He wanted to but she scared him to the core. For a split-second, he heard the crips burning sound of hell, the screams in it, and Churu's welcoming laughs.
Who would have thought that an outrageous man like him would fear death?
"It was from a man with an alias D. Only a few knew who it was." As the man began to speak sense, Ethan Lu and Lyrick Jiang perked up.
They didn't know what happened and why the man was so terrified at Churu. They witness how he slightly flinch whenever Churu speak and how his attitude changed when he had an eye contact with Churu.
Still, that didn't matter as the man was finally giving them information. Whatever he says, it might be the key to know who were the people behind this.
"Do you know him?"
"I know one." Slowly, the man raised his head and met Churu's investigative eyes. "Others think that D is just one man, but they're wrong." He added.
Upon hearing this, everyone that was hearing this knitted their brows. Does he mean that the person with a "D" alias was not just one but multiple people used it?
"Rick, find out more about this D." Ethan Lu commanded as he never once left the man's figure in the interrogation room.
"Yes," Bowing his head, Lyrick Jiang was about to make a call. But, just before he could leave, his tracks stopped as he turned and looked at the other room via the one sided mirror.
"Is the person you know that uses D's name is the person who gave the request?" Churu probed further and the man nodded.
"Dylan Lu"
