Chapter 574 - Did Lou Hurt You?
"Oh god Ethan..." Upset, Lexi heavily sighed as she shook her head.
"I'm fine, my love. I didn't even get a scratch." After calming her down, Ethan Lu chuckled as he tried to humor her to ease her mind.
"I know but — oh my god, get admitted and have a full body check." It was not that Lexi wasn't trying to understand his nonchalance, but as a wife, she could not help it.
The airplane crash the other week was still fresh in her mind. Therefore, this another mild accident had a powerful impact on her.
"Love..." As Ethan Lu was about to argue, he heard a muffled sniff from the other end of the line. "Love? Are you crying, baby?" He asked, his brows furrowed as a worried glint flashed across his dark eyes.
"Love..." After a minute of hearing her sniffs, Ethan Lu's voice softened as his heart melted. God knows he wanted to teleport on her side and give her a hug.
Ethan Lu felt sorry for his wife. He didn't want to worry her every single day. He wanted to give her a peaceful life, but the circumstances seemed to contradict his wishes.
Perhaps Churu was right. These problems that were popping one after another, maybe it was to test how he deal with every dilemma. And now that the general minor problems stopped occurring, extreme life-threatening began to occur.
"I'm sorry..." Biting his lower lip, a deep sigh escaped from his nose. He could say other comforting words, but somehow, Ethan Lu felt that apologizing was what he needed to say. "I know it's very messy right now but love, I'm trying." Sounding dejected and tired, Ethan Lu massaged his forehead.
"I know... it's just that — I don't know." Lexi's voice was shaky, it cracked throughout her sentence as she was obviously pushing herself to speak. "Ethan, I don't want to lose you. It's just that every time, there's always a reason for me to worry about you." Lexi wiped her tears as she ranted once again.
The situation made her emotional. If the problem was just like Laurel Wang, Lexi wouldn't mind if she has to deal with hundred more women that wanted to covet her husband.
However, Ethan Lu's situation was on a whole different level. It was as if her husband was walking on a thin ice; one wrong step, he might fall and get drown to death in piercingly cold water.
"I know, I'm sorry." Ethan Lu responded, still bearing an apologetic frown. "I know my sorry is not enough but love, I'm trying to fix everything. It might not happen now, but I know my efforts will pay off later." Ethan Lu stated sincerely.
"So please, hang on okay? Please, my love?" Ethan Lu somehow felt ashamed at himself. Although Lexi knew that entering the Lu family would be problematic, she never truly reckoned that they would pull extreme schemes that has an intent to kill him.
"Ethan, don't let the twins grow up without a father. So, please, be vigilant and careful." Lexi sighed as her tears finally stopped from falling. She was just venting her built-up frustrations that accumulated inside her.
"Mhmm..." Humming a tune, Ethan Lu nodded as he raised his gaze to Lyrick Jiang and the authorities doing their duties. "I have Chacha, remember?" He reminded which somehow made Lexi calm down.
"I know..."
"Don't worry anymore. I'll be fine and will always go home to you and the twins. I love you." Seeing that Lyrick Jiang was jogging in his direction, Ethan Lu smiled as these words were his motivation to stay alive.
"I love you too..." Lexi responded softly. The two continued to exchange reminders until they bid their farewell with great reluctance.
As soon as Ethan Lu placed his phone down, he raised his brows gesturing Lyrick Jiang to speak.
"Master, I receive a call from Chacha. She caught the rider of the motorcycle bike — our team are now on the way to her location." Although Lyrick Jiang was surprised when Churu called him, he didn't waste a second and sent his team while the police followed to the said location.
However, the curiosity remained: how did Churu caught the person?
"I see..." Glancing at Lyrick Jiang's curious eyes, Ethan Lu decided not to explain at the moment. The situation was already a mess. Therefore, explaining that Churu was actually a fallen angel with superhuman strength would only add more confusion.

[BEAUTY DR: CEO OFFICE]
When Lexi placed down the phone, another heavy exhale escaped her mouth. She would be lying if she said she was completely coaxed despite knowing that Churu was on her husband's side. She just couldn't.
Just then, she heard a knock from outside her office, which made her turn her gaze to the door. Slowly, the door opened and an unfamiliar face entered — it was Nico Zhuang's temporary replacement.
"Madam, someone was looking for you. Her name is Victoria Tang." He informed which made Lexi nodded her head.
"Let her in." Lexi commanded, which was executed properly. It took several minutes for Victoria Tang to arrive as she was waiting in the lobby when Lexi approved her visit.
When Victoria Tang arrived inside the CEO's office, she saw Lexi standing in front of the corner desk as she prepared tea.
"Vic," sensing the woman's presence, Lexi turned her head behind and smiled. She gestured for her to take a seat as Lexi placed the two cups of tea on the tray.
"I'm sorry to bother you." Meek and soft, Victoria Tang apologized in advance as she perched on the long sofa.
"Bother me? Oh no, dear. You're not bothering anyone. It should be me who's apologizing for not visiting you and Vinvin more often." Shaking her head, Lexi served her the cup of tea before she perched on the head seat.
Placing her leg over the other, Lexi smiled as she set her eyes on Victoria Tang's gorgeous yet seemingly tired profile. "What happen?" After sizing her up for several seconds, Lexi knitted her brows as she sensed something was wrong.
Not just that but also, Lexi notice that she has a bruise on her shoulder. Although Victoria Tang's top should cover it, Lexi had a glimpse of it when Victoria Tang reached for the tea.
"Did Lou hurt you?" Not beating around the bush, Lexi asked, which made Victoria Tang's hands tremble as she slightly flinched by the question.
