Chapter 562 - Boss Red
Later that night…
Ethan Lu and Lexi were in the car's back passenger seat. Turning to see his wife, Ethan Lu sighed. "Love,"
"I want to know what will happen tonight." Casting him a side glance, Lexi offered a meek smile.
Currently, the trade for the video scandal was occurring inside the private bar. Lexi and Ethan Lu didn't need to meet the person themselves as they have to be mindful of the situation. Therefore, the person who came for the exchange was none other than Jarred Guo.
"Will Red be okay?"
"Hmm…" Humming a tune, Ethan Lu nodded his head as he turned to the window. "He's reliable in this type of transaction." He muttered.
Since Lyrick Jiang's was always at his side, he couldn't send him in because his face was just as familiar as Ethan Lu. Jarred Guo, on the other hand, although he seemed to be merely a driver, away from the public eye, he had another important job; that was to represent his master to any shady and suspicious business.
"That's good…" Nodding her head, Lexi pursed her lips together. She doesn't know why, but part of her was bothered. Everything was going smoothly, and it was making her anxious.

Inside the private room of the booming establishment of the club, Jarred Guo could still faintly hear the music despite that the room was soundproof. He blankly stared at the person opposite him.
The other man had his face half-covered by the hood of his jacket. His shoulder slightly trembled as he glanced at Jarred Guo's calm visage.
"This is everything, right?" Jarred Guo asked as he slid the flash drive inside his pocket suit.
"Ye — yes!" The man replied, nodding his head profusely.
"The information?" Jarred Guo arched his brows and jerked his chin a little up.
"It's all in there — everything you asked is in there." Despite his shaking voice, annoyance laced in his tone. "Just — where is it?"
"..." Jarred Guo stared at the man's impatient figure as the said person looked around, searching for the money. "You already know that this is a trap, no?" Jarred Guo asked as his brows creased.
Obviously, even though Jarred Guo didn't know the full detail of how this transaction was prepared, it was already given that the other party wouldn't leave this place as a free man.
"Do you think that blackmail is a minor crime you can get away with anytime?" Tilting his head to the side, Jarred Guo peered at him with eyes full of question marks. "Not to mention, your targets are not just anyone."
"Uh…" Hearing the lackadaisical statement from Ethan Lu's man, the man's fist trembled as his eyes shook while scanning the small private room. His fingers fiddled at one another restlessly as he hyperventilated; signs of his anxiousness about the current situation.
"Tsk tsk tsk," Shaking his head, Jarred Guo clicked his tongue as he pitied the man. "Whoever your boss is, they don't care about you at all. They used you as their shield, and what do you get in return? Money?" Jarred Guo took advantage of the man's muddled mind and played with his thoughts.
Yet, there wasn't a sign that Jarred Guo perceived the situation as entertaining. If anything, he found it annoying. How could someone be so vicious as to use people as their shield and make them take all the bullets for them?
It was unfair, but that's life, isn't it?
People with wealth had all always had the upper hand — combine it with a vile nature. God… Jarred Guo could only thank that his master didn't have that kind of personality despite the environment he grew up in; or rather, Ethan Lu could be that kind of vicious man, but he chose not to take that route.
"Why don't you tell me who was your employer? Maybe you'll get a shorter sentence?"
"N-no…" without a second hesitation, the man responded and shook his head. Despite knowing his ending, for some reason, he still wanted to keep the person behind him a secret.
Jarred Guo narrowed his eyes as he studied the man's figure. The man had his head hanged low. He made no eye contact with Jarred Guo ever since the beginning, but Jarred Guo was certain that the situation made him restless. Not to mention, his impatient yet terrified tone was rather suspicious.
"Was he taking someone as a hostage?" Out of nowhere, Jarred Guo asked. He could only think of this conclusion because no sane man would ever set his foot in an obvious trap. Moreover, the fact that the man kept on refusing Lexi's offer in spite that he would benefit was baffling.
"No!" Just then, the man slammed his palm on the table separating him and Jarred Guo. For the first time he finally made an eye contact, letting Jarred Guo see the desperate fire within it. "Just take me in, I don't care! You people went back on your words and betrayed me! What do you still want?" The man growled loudly, as if anytime he would snap and wreak havoc.
"I see… I'm sorry to hear that, then." Slowly, Jarred Guo nodded his head in understanding as he unhurriedly stood from his seat. However, just as he did, his words somehow burned the last restraint the other person had.
Without further ado, the man suddenly pounced on him. Fortunately, Jarred Guo's reflexes were sharp. Therefore, even before the man could reach him, he flung his arm and in one swift move; he pinned the man on the table while holding on his wrist behind him.
"Ahh!" The man winced as the pressure behind him weighed heavier by the second.
"Do you think your employer was the only person capable of doing things?" Cold and unemphatic, an unreadable glint flashed across Jarred Guo's eyes. "If you truly wanted to protect someone, your heroism will not save them. Cooperate with us and save yourself from the trouble. Don't think that you're irreplaceable — who knows, the next person who will be in the same situation was that very person you tried to protect from your mess." Just then, the door abruptly opened upon hearing the sudden disturbance inside.
"Boss Red!"
"Inform the chief of police to protect this person at all cost while he's under interrogation." Without turning to the people that came in, Jarred Guo ordered sternly. Meanwhile, when the man heard Jarred Guo's orders, his eyes widened in disbelief.
