Chapter 560 - Aren't You Romantic, Miss Wang?
Meanwhile…
"Yes, thank you." Inside the locker room, Lexi nodded her head despite Aubrey Ning not seeing her from the other end of the line. After a second, she bid her farewell and thanked Aubrey Ning again before hanging up the call.
Aubrey Ning was still with the ladies and could not go back to the locker room. Fortunately, it wasn't locked, and Lexi could get in. She also didn't bother to change as she promised to buy an extra set for Aubrey Ning.
Grabbing her handbag out of the locker, Lexi then placed her office clothes earlier in the spare paper bag that Aubrey Ning mentioned. After checking once more, a satisfied smile formed on her lips as she nodded.
With that, Lexi then left the locker room. However, just as she left the locker room, Laurel Wang was heading in her direction, probably going to one of the locker rooms in the area. Yet, Lexi didn't want to bother and continue with her tracks.
Just as the two women got closer, Lexi's strides were put on a halt when Laurel Wang blocked her way. "Miss Wang, what is it that you want?" looking at her in the eye, Lexi arched her brows as she showed petty emotions.
"Huh," Unlike her gentle pretentious act earlier and all their encounters, Laurel Wang bore a hateful sneer as she scoffed. Her eyes were burning with rage, that was slowly devouring her own soul. "Miss Yang, you're in my way — move." Slowly, Laurel Wang's sneer faded.
Her remarks, of course, made Lexi's brows creased. Obviously, the one on the way was Laurel Wang as she deliberately moved to Lexi's path. But now, she was shamelessly accusing that Lexi was the one who blocked her way.
Surely, she wanted trouble. Unfortunately, Lexi was done playing with her. Therefore, to make things easier, Lexi shrugged her shoulders and stepped aside. However, just as she did, Laurel Wang also stepped to the side.
"Haha," seeing that Laurel Wang was burning her rope of patience, Lexi could not help but chuckle. "What is this, Miss Wang? Don't tell me you want to cause trouble?" Amused at the complete change of the said woman's attitude, Lexi cast her a blithe smile.
"Miss Yang, don't overthink. I am merely asking you to move aside — don't block my way." Smiling, Laurel Wang feigned innocent as she almost repeated the same words she said earlier.
Who would believe her? She's obviously there to trouble Lexi and is now playing words with her.
"Miss Wang, were your words pertaining to this path or to something… someone else?" Slowly, the corner of Lexi's lips curled into an amused smile. "I can step aside and you can block my way the whole day. However, too bad because I can only give way in this simple situation." Upon saying her last remark, Lexi took a step forward, yet Laurel Wang didn't take a step back.
"Haha," Laurel Wang snorted, finding her words silly. "Miss Yang, whether you step aside or not, my way is ahead so I can only move forward. No one can stop me, no matter how big the obstacle was." A malicious glint flashed across Laurel Wang's eyes as she smirked.
Lexi understood the meaning behind her words; Laurel Wang had decided to go all out. By the looks of it, Laurel Wang was tired of playing the innocent lady as she finally showed her actual colors in front of Lexi.
Bold because no one was around, eh?
"Aren't you romantic, Miss Wang?" Lexi was even more amused at the determination of the woman. Actually, Lexi had gone soft on her after the occurrence earlier. Lexi even thought that she was being too mean and childish.
However, it seemed that it triggered Laurel Wang to show her real colors. Now Lexi could see her eye to eye and discovered what kind of person she was dealing with. How pathetic.
"However, are you sure there are other obstacles aside from your goal itself?" Tilting her head to the side, Lexi raised her brows and blinked her eyes a few times. "Aren't you the one overthinking things, Miss Wang? Or you just lack experience in love?" Lexi eyes slowly examined Laurel Wang's facial features.
Lexi must admit though, Laurel Wang was beautiful. It was not like she was better looking than the said woman, or Laurel Wang was better looking than Lexi. To Lexi, they had their own charms that shone differently.
"Let me give you a piece of advice… you never need to beg for someone's love and attention because if he loves you, they will do it even if you don't ask." A faint sigh escaped her lips as Lexi tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear.
"You can present yourself bare to a man — he can take your body, heart, and soul but, that's it. You can never have his heart in return if he didn't want to. Actually, you'll take nothing while losing more than you should." Lexi had learned this lesson in the most hurtful way in the past.
Thinking of the time that she had stooped so low, Lexi recalled the time she stood naked in front of Morris Liu, only to lose her heart when he looked away. Granting that Morris Liu had his reasons back then, it wasn't any different if Laurel Wang did the same to Ethan Lu.
If Morris Liu held back despite his feelings for Lexi, what more Ethan Lu who was head over heels with her? Lexi was confident that even if some woman would do the same skit she did years back, he would also look away without a second hesitation.
"Love?" Just then, Ethan Lu's voice came from behind Laurel Wang. Lexi glanced at him and smiled sweetly.
"Take my advice, Miss Wang. Save yourself from drowning before it's too late." Lexi muttered before she stepped forward, brushing her shoulder with hers.
"I got worried — you said it'll be quick." As Lexi approached, Ethan Lu frowned as his wife took his sweet time, making him worry.
"Sorry," Lexi chuckled and to coax the displeased hubby, she placed a soft peck on his lips. With that action, Ethan Lu nagged for more as they walked away.
Laurel Wang's jaw tightened as she turned and watched Lexi mark her territory. "Save myself? Huh," Despite the good intention of Lexi, Laurel Wang didn't take a crap as she snorted at the couple's departing figure.
