Chapter 528 - Lincoln Lu
Unlike what Churu expected, the medieval times underground dungeon she imagined wasn't what welcomed her. It wasn't being lighted by torches, there were no rusting cages or unrefined walls.
Rather, the underground base appeared to be just an extension of the house. However, though there are furniture and lounges, there were also doors that one must see to know what lies inside.
The noises Churu heard earlier, sadly, it was just the opera song resounding across the spacious hall. And yet, no inhabitant could be seen around to listen to the song. The only one in there was Louis Lu who was heading to a certain door.
When Louis Lu arrived in front of a metal door, he looked up — specifically to the CCTV. The camera slightly moved as if scanning the person standing in front of the door before a loud mechanical sound assailed their ears.
"You know, I'm getting pretty hyped up about this, only to be disappointed in the end." Bemused, Churu complained as she rested on Louis Lu's shoulder and prick her nose.
Meanwhile, Louis Lu pushed the door opened, revealing an almost empty room. Though it was almost empty in furniture, there were quite a few people inside; four in total.
Two bodyguards standing on the side, one man in a suit that seemed to be in his early 40s, standing behind the chair where a man in his mid-50s perched. Although the person standing behind the chair turned to Louis Lu and slightly bowed his head, Lincoln Lu — the man sitting — kept his gaze in front of him.
Churu scrutinized their profiles before she followed the gaze where they were looking. There, a floor to length one-sided mirror that was used as a wall graced Churu's eyes.
Unlike how tidy and spotless this place was, the other side was its complete opposite. It was a mess, a bloody mess as a man was being tortured while they watched him without remorse.
"Oh my..." Churu murmured, seeing a dismembered finger on the corner of the floor. Although it wasn't as worse than hell, it was still considered as gore to humans — and to showed no reaction as if it was a normal occurrence, Churu had second thoughts if she had done her evil services right compare to this four.
"Director Fei, a family acquaintance, and partner for years is now suffering. Give him the taste of torment, as per master's request." After a minute of silence, Lincoln Lu spoke. His tone was stern and solid, not taking his eyes off from the beaten man on the other side of the transparent wall.
Director Fei was one of the directors who was proven embezzling money from the Lu Corporation and other illegal activities. Thus, now he was being punished before they would turn him in.
Regardless of how obvious his scars were, one of the advantages of the Lu Family was that they could get away from their small crimes. They don't kill but, that doesn't mean they never knew how to teach people a lesson in the Lu's way.
Indeed, the Lu Family had been like these for generations. This punishment was already considered light compared to the past generations.
And speaking of tradition, since the Lu Family was vast, each core member had important roles to play. For example, Lincoln Lu's duty was for punishing, torturing, or interrogating traitors.
Thus, the reason for a place like this. After all, even if the Lu Family go down or been tangled by a huge problem that involved the authorities, the main residence would remain clean of blood.
Although both Edward Lu and Ethan Lu didn't have a plan to commit any mortal sin, it was still preferable to be safe than sorry.
"Tell me it wasn't you," Ignoring his father's remarks, Louis Lu vaguely said. "You're not the person behind that crash." He added, piercing his father's temple by his cold gaze.
When the news about Ethan Lu's supposed flight crashed, Louis Lu asked some of his friends in the country where Ethan Lu was, to investigate the matter. Although the information was limited, it was still enough for him to put the pieces together.
After all, Country M was filled with dangerous people — it was akin to a vast mobs' turf where only the strong could live. And Lincoln Lu's connection there was considered vast.
"Does it matter if it was me or not?" Slowly, Lincoln Lu turned his head at Louis Lu. Aside from his thick straight brows, and few visible wrinkles, Lincoln Lu seemed to be just the older version of Louis Lu.
"What's important was that he's alive isn't it?" He shrugged, not giving clear answers to his inquiring son.
"So, are you the one orchestrated it?" Flying forward, Churu asserted for clear answers because that's her purpose here.
Louis Lu studied his father's front. If he was a stranger, he wouldn't be able to spot the hint. Never once his father admitted to doing things, yet he had the habit of tapping his finger on the armchair as if he was playing the piano.
He only does that whenever he was amused by twisting the truth. Hence, Louis Lu got his answer despite not hearing it from his father's mouth.
"Son, don't interfere with my business if you don't want me interfering with your life." Lincoln Lu returned his eyes to the poor state of Director Fei. "You don't want me near my grandson, after all." He added, which made Louis Lu tightened his jaw.
"Your ambition will lead you nowhere." Louis Lu warned, which was replied by a meek scoff. "Ethan is not a child anymore — don't tell me I didn't warn you." Despite the arrogance of his father, Louis Lu warned him one last time.
For a second, Ethan Lu's image and his cold tone flashed across Louis Lu's eyes. "I'll make him accompany Satan," words of Ethan Lu once again rang in his head.
"I appreciate your visit, son." Without glancing at his son, Lincoln Lu's lips curled into a sneer. "If you may, I am still in the middle of executing our master's orders," said Lincoln before Louis Lu left after piercing him with glaring daggers.
