Chapter 382 - Milk!
One month later…
"I have a mission to give out— this is important." Inside the Yang Mansion's living area, a solemn, dreaded silence gradually engulfed and spread across Ethan Lu's vicinity. Moving his sharp gaze to Lyrick Jiang across him, Nico Zhuang on the right sofa and then Jarred Guo on the left side, Ethan Lu nodded his head as if he was satisfied to see their determined look.
"As you all know, our main forces needed some back-up because of an emergency that occurred and they were granted a time leave. Therefore, I am asking for this favor as I can't trust anyone but you three." Moving his gaze to each of the three, Ethan Lu rested his elbow over his knees as he looked at their not so happy front.
"You're with me on this, right?"
"Yes, master." The three un-energetically responded before they heard a loud cry of a baby that was soundlessly sleeping near Ethan Lu seconds ago. The four of them turned towards Evan Lu who was always irritable, unlike Lady Lara that rarely cries.
Currently, the yang parents had an emergency and they had to go overseas to visit a close relative that was diagnosed with a disease. Therefore, the ones that were left were Lexi and Ethan Lu with the rest of their servants. However, these two were too hostile in that they could not seem to entrust their children to just anyone. Hence, the dilemma.
Not to mention, since Lexi had been lacking in sleep for the past month due to taking care of the twins, Ethan Lu proposed that he would be in charge of tonight's watch since he took another day off tomorrow.
"Baby, don't cry. Daddy's here." Softly shushing, Ethan Lu finally learned how to properly carry this delicate baby. Still, there was this stiffness whenever he did so as he remained careful while reducing his movements. Alas, Evan Lu stopped crying for just a second but then resumed that had effectively deafened the three.
"Evan, Evan my prince, you'll wake up your sister." At this point, Ethan Lu tried to move a little as he kept a constant beat to his steps in the same spot.
In the eyes of their subordinates, they seemed to not have recognized their own boss anymore. Just in the last several months, Ethan Lu's aggressiveness and tyranny towards each Lu family member heightened to secure Lexi's pregnancy. Thanks to his terrifying threats and extreme measures, Ethan Lu avoided any mishap and scheme from his cunning family members.
Not just that, Lexi's pregnancy also remained a secret as her shadow guards tripled in number. Lexi might or might not know it but no one could approach her as easily as before because if someone had a look garnering suspicion, they would be immediately confronted and investigated.
Furthermore, during those months, the three felt they were free from the dog food that would normally be served as Lexi monitored her business while at home before Ethan Lu and Lexi moved in to the yang mansion. Therefore, the three almost forgot how their boss was normally like whenever he was around Lexi and now to these twins.
Just as Evan Lu's cries slowly subsided, the other baby, Lady Lara Lu produced a sound as if she was about to continue the concert. Upon hearing the abrupt sound that broke the peace that the three of them just had gained momentarily when Evan Lu stopped crying, the four of them unconsciously turned to the baby girl Lu that was laying in the crib while moving her hands and feet in the air.
"Ethan…?" Above them, Lexi's exhausted voice was also heard before she took a peek downstairs at the current occurrence. For some reason, when Lady Lara Lu heard her mother's voice, her cry started to sound as if her cries were ratting her father and uncle's out.
"Lara, princess…" Distressed by this abnormal scenario as his princess decided to act up as well, Ethan Lu frantically split his attention between Evan Lu who flinched upon hearing his sister's cries before he joined the fun.
"Rick, milk! Bring me the milk!" Realizing his innocent company that he summoned for this task were unmoving and were just watching him do all the work. For Peter's sake! This was the very reason why they were there— to give him a hand int watching these babies.
"Milk? What milk? Where's the milk? Red, milk!" Snapping from his stupor, Lyrick Jiang who was the first person to be dragged out and act as an expert babysitter, panicked as the twin's cries were getting louder and in sync.
"I don't have milk! Nico, milk!" Jarred Guo instinctively raised both his hands as he transferred the orders to Nico Zhuang who was now scratching the back of his head while his eyes scanned the surroundings trying to find a certain object.
"It's just in there! Try using your eyes! God da— jeez!" Frustrated at the transferring of his orders, Ethan Lu sassed as he glared daggers at the three who were not doing anything to help.
Watching them from the indoor balcony, Lexi's lips curled into a smile as her gaze softened, entertained at the four men who were panicking trying to stop the babies from crying. As she watched them more for a bit, she could not help but chuckle as they were indeed helpless.
Just what did Ethan Lu get inside his head to drag these three who were just as clueless as he was the first time he had to care for them? Granted that he trusted them more than others, alas, was it really enough in requirements to drag them all into this? If so, Lexi criticized Ethan Lu's desperate decision making because just watching them could make the person watching them experience stress.
"These guys… *sigh*" Shaking her head sideways, a chuckle escaped Lexi's lips before she decided to go downstairs and give them a hand. After all, how could she keep sleeping if she was hearing her twin's crying plus, the three grown men who were loudly panicking— excluding Nico Zhuang as he was the type of person who rarely raised his voice,

[Somewhere in the city]
"Dylan, what do you want with me?" Raising her head to meet the sharp pair of semi monolid eyes of Dylan Lu, Laurel Wang, the daughter of one of the country's senators emotionlessly asked. Unlike her graceful aura back in Ethan Lu's official take over event, Laurel Wang seemed as if she had lost a little weight.
"Hmmm, I really don't know but you seem as if you lost weight." Sneering, which was a facade under a gentle smile, Dylan Lu traveled his eyes to the distressed woman.
"That's none of your business."
"I am just concerned, after all, I still root for you as my cousin's befitting partner." Shrugging his shoulders, Dylan Lu heaved a heavy sigh. He didn't need to see Laurel Wang's expression to notice the abrupt change on her face.
"Say, Miss Wang, do you like Ethan?" Tilting his head to the side, Dylan Lu innocently inquired which made Laurel Wang pursed her lips into a thin line. "You know, maybe I can help you…" Smiling, Dylan Lu raised his head to see the conflicted expression of the woman which was enough to satisfy him.
"... that is, if you are willing to snatch him at any cost."
