Chapter 379 - Is There's Something Wrong With The Twins?
Meanwhile…
The eyes behind her lids began to move and in a second, Lexi slowly opened her eyes as her brows slightly knitted. Lexi didn't completely open her eyes as soon as possible as she tried to get her vision to be used to the blinding light of the private hospital room.
As soon as Lexi's memories about yesterday came rushing inside her mind, her hand unconsciously moved and rubbed her tummy. For some reason, Lexi had this weird feeling as the long months of pregnancy with her tummy growing in an unimaginable size had gotten her used to caressing it in that size. However, now, though her stomach was still flabby and soft, the feeling felt new to her.
"Dear…" Upon seeing that Lexi began moving again, Lillian Yang rushed to her side and called her in a soft, proud tone. Glancing at her daughter's hand that was caressing her tummy as if she was curious where the babies went, Lillian Yang's lips stretched into a smile.
"The babies are now in the nursery." Even without her daughter's asking, Lillian Yang said that to ease whatever worries Lexi had in mind. "We can visit them later, okay? Ethan and your father grabbed some food for you— they will be back any minute." Stroking Lexi's head, Lillian Yang softly added.
"Mom?" Her voice was hoarse from all the screaming and shouting while delivering the babies, Lexi turned her attention to her mother.
"Yes, dear?"
"Is there's something wrong with the twins?" Ignoring the splitting pain on her dry throat as she spoke, Lexi's brows worriedly creased as she peered at her mother with a concerned look, hoping that in this instant the worries that struck her upon hearing 'they will be the one who should visit the twins', was just an unnecessary instinct of a first-time mother like her.
"No, dear." Gently, Lillian Yang shook her head sideways as her lips offered a reassuring smile. Reaching out to her daughter's hand, Mother Yang tenderly patted it as her daughter was now a mother and she fully understood why she was worried. "The twins needed to stay at the nursery while you were recovering." She briefly added.
"That's good to hear…" Heaving a sigh of relief, Lexi subtly smiled. Hearing that the twins were fine and they had no complications or whatsoever, her worries turned into excitement and yearning to see them this instant. If only she could rush her way to the nursery room, Lexi would have already done so.
However, her body was still tired from giving birth to two wonderful children. Hence, in her very rational thinking, Lexi knew she had to rest first so she could have the energy to see her twins as soon as possible. Moreover, she was starving!
Just then, the main door of the private ward slowly opened and revealed Ethan Lu and Frederick Yang, carrying bags of food that were prepared by the Yang family chefs. Just a glance at the two, the dark bags under their eyes were evident as if they only had several short hours of sleep since yesterday. Thus, the presence of the gloomy and exhausted aura emanating from the two of them.
"Honey, these are the things that you asked us to buy and bring." Frederick Yang's eyes first landed on Lillian Yang that was standing beside the bed and blocking them the view of Lexi's conscious front.
"Great! Good timing Lexi just woke up!" Clasping her hands together, Lillian Yang hurriedly glided to welcome the two and snatched the bags that contained Tupperware that has food inside. Upon hearing her last remarks, Frederick Yang and Ethan Lu moved towards the bed at the same time.
There, Lexi was looking at them with a content smile as if she found her father and her fiance's surface rather silly, Hence, the chuckle that escaped her mouth afterward.
"Lexi!"
"Love!" At the same time, Frederick Yang and Ethan Lu snapped from their nothing box inside their heads and immediately dashed towards the hospital bed. Excited, glad, and relieved, her father and her lover were like two little orphan boys upon meeting their biological mother.
God knows how worried they were as Lexi fell asleep for as long as they could remember. Especially Ethan Lu as he kept checking on her breathing every once in a while. But now, Lexi had finally regained her consciousness, though she appeared a little haggard, he really doesn't care because, in his eyes, Lexi was the most beautiful girl.
"Please don't tell me you didn't get to sleep?" Altering her gaze from her father and to Ethan Lu, Lexi asked as neither of them talked after calling her name. Therefore, Lexi decided to strike up a conversation that seemed to have snapped the two from whatever trance they were in.
"Oh no, dear." Hearing Lexi's inquiry, Lillian Yang chuckled in glee while preparing the dishes and placed them on the over the table tray. She was reminded of how her husband and Ethan Lu kept on fussing last night.
"Your father and Ethan got some sleep but they would always wake up within a set interval to check on you." Pushing the table tray towards Lexi's bed, Lillian Yang decided to rat these two out as she found them both silly.
Granted that she already assured them that it was normal for her to sleep and rest after Lexi's sixteen-hour labor and the hours spent for delivering the twins, still, nothing seemed to get through the deepest part of these two men's head as they acted on their instincts.
"Dad…" Arching her brows, Lexi was being supported by her mother to sit and rest her back against the bed's headboard. "Ethan…?" Slowly, Lexi moved her gaze to Ethan Lu's more haggard front before a moved smile plastered on the side of her lips.
"Thank you," Just a little, Lexi bowed her head as she appreciated her father and Ethan Lu's little act of concern about her well being. "Have you eaten yet? I am starving. Let's eat so we can visit the twins." Resuming after a pause, Lexi snapped the two grown men back to reality as she saw their pair of eyes began to glint with sweat.
On the other hand, Lillian Yang could not help but chuckle and shook her head as she watched them on the verge of crying as if Lexi was in a coma for a long time and just regained consciousness after years.
"Don't make the first time mom wait. She's surely starving right now." Backing up Lexi, Lillian Yang started serving Lexi with food before she warned the two to eat as well.
