Chapter 373 - Paternity Test
"They will stay with me until the DNA result comes out. Thank you for your assistance." After they had their meal in silence, Louis Lu slightly bowed his head to Lexi and Ethan Lu who were sending them off.
"No biggie. I am a good cousin so no matter how you rip me off, I won't charge back this time." Sounding proud and righteous, Ethan Lu patted his chest which made Lexi slightly elbow him.
"Ethan, Lexi, thank you for your help. I don't know how to repay you guys." Victoria Tang bowed her head as she displayed her gratitude for this lovely couple. Although the discussion she had with Louis Lu was mostly about their son's condition and set aside their unclosed relationship, the sliver of hope that her child would receive the best treatment was enough for her.
"You don't have to thank us, just keep in touch, okay? Tell me if Lou is bullying you. I will knock some sense into him." Offering a warm smile, Lexi took a step forward as her hand reached out to Victoria Tang's petite hands. In the short span of two days, Lexi and Victoria Tang built this connection because, one way or another, they understood each other's heart. Hence, Lexi was more than glad to be a part of this small reunion.
It was all up to the two if this restart would bring forth spring or just another endless piercingly cold winter in their hearts. Even so, with a child in the picture and both seemingly to have these unknown feelings for each other, Lexi was somewhat convinced that everything will end well.
"I will, thank you." Smiling back, Victoria Tang's eyes stung because all these years, Lexi was probably the only person that showed her genuine kindness without asking anything in return. She could feel it very vividly that Lexi was a gem to treasure.
Luckily Ethan Lu was able to find someone that was beautiful inside and out despite his horrifying dating history. Nevertheless, Victoria Tang was convinced that Ethan Lu deeply loves Lexi as she never saw the look in his eyes that was present every time he looked at Lexi before. Soon, after exchanging reminders and thanks, Louis Lu left along with Victoria Tang and their son.
As they left, Lexi and Ethan Lu watched the family of three head to Louis Lu's vehicle. In their eyes, they were not like any particular family that spread a bright and peaceful vibe. Instead, they could sense the seemingly vast line between Louis Lu and Victoria Tang. If not for the fact that there was Vincent Tang that connects the two, Lexi and Ethan Lu were certain that those two would have gone their own separate ways.
"Love?" As Lexi's eyes were glued on the slow-moving car that was getting farther and farther away from them and got tinier in her sight every millisecond, she softly called.
"Hmm?"
"Do you also feel some sense of fulfillment? Because I do." Her gaze softened as her heart hoped for the best for Louis Lu and Victoria Tang. Aside from wishing all the best in the world for the people she cares about, Lexi never had this concern to people she just met two days ago.
"Mhmm… those two need a second chance. I will beat the hell out of Lou if he messes this up." Subtly smiling, Ethan Lu finally noticed the unnoticeable change in Louis Lu's temperament. Though he doesn't seem like it, but it only proved that his first assumption about Louis Lu was right: He likes Victoria Tang— that's for sure.
"Let's go back inside?" Turning to face Lexi, a subtle smile formed on the side of his lips as his arms snaked on Lexi's shoulder. Both might not say it but within these two days, it made them realize a lot of things.
First, was that communication must and would always be one of the priorities in their relationship. Although they had been doing a great job at that, this encounter with Victoria Tang and Louis Lu's love affair would always remind them that being selfish and making a decision without taking the other party's consideration in mind would only lead to a heartbreaking situation.
Secondly, the already full-blown love they had for each other bloomed even more as both appreciated all the little efforts they made just to be together. Indeed, this relationship would never work if only Ethan Lu was the person who was giving his all.
Last but not the least, the excitement of seeing their own mini versions grew stronger as the time they spent with Vincent Tang was quite fulfilling. His little smiles, little hands, and innocent questions, everything was just too adorable to melt their hearts. If Ethan Lu's nephew could make such an impact on them, what's more, if it was their own children?

Two weeks later: Night time.
"Love!" After receiving a sudden message, Lexi excitedly called out that startled the silent Ethan Lu who was reviewing a document without a word. When she caught his attention, a large priceless grin formed on the corners of Lexi's lips displaying her even white teeth.
"The DNA results came out! Look!" Without further ado, Lexi showed him the photo of the result on her phone's screen which made Ethan Lu slightly draw his head back to get a better read. As his eyes quickly skimmed the result, an irresistible smile plastered in his eyes as he caught the 99.9 percent that Vincent Tang and Louis Lu were father and son.
"I'm so happy for them~" Moved, Lexi could not help her eyes but to sweat because the little to no doubt about this validation was finally cleared. "Let me congratulate them, you too." Retrieving her phone, Lexi didn't waste time as she composed a lengthy reply to Victoria Tang.
After sending the reply, Lexi turned to Ethan Lu who already stopped working as he was languidly leaning on the bed's headboard with his arms crossed under his chest and seemed he was pondering about something.
"Hmm?" Tilting her head to the side, Lexi was intrigued by what he has in mind.
"I just thought about what my Uncle will think and say. After all, Lou is his pride and even if it doesn't look like it, Lou is very filial despite the fact that his father was a control freak. So, I am somewhat worried." A heavy sigh escaped his mouth as the Lu family system spread was applied to each of the individual families of the core members. Therefore, Ethan Lu was now reminded of that particular Uncle of his that until now, he didn't know what intention he bore with his silent behavior ever since.
"It's alright." Gently smiling, Lexi's heart melted even more as Ethan Lu's kindness despite all Louis Lu's opportunity advancement to him was just too much for her heart to handle. Leaning her head on his shoulder, her fingers slid in between his fingers. "Just look after them every once in a while. Also, Lou is not a child. He single-handedly established his own company, I believed, he could figure out a way for his own family."
"You're right, my love." Easing up a little, Ethan Lu leaned his head over Lexi's with a satisfied smile on his lips.
