Chapter 313 - Bad Parents
"But, that is not what I am asking." She murmured.
Lexi could only watch the woman on a motorbike go further and further away from her sight while the annoying echoing noise of her vehicle gradually faded away. What that woman always says to her always made her wonder saying such stuff.
Recalling their last encounter, she told her to be careful, as if she was well-versed that she was in danger. Lexi didn't mind that before as she didn't know back then that her life was in danger with the people after Morris Liu. But now, thinking that maybe, Seraphina Yue knew about the fact that she felt unwanted.
Furthermore, she just said that she should be wary of Louis Lu's father? How did she know that she has a deeper connection to the Lu family? After all, Lexi just said she was only attending the event. Although it was obvious that it was the event of the new head of the Lu Corporation, how did she concluded that she wasn't just a mere guest?
"Nico, have you seen her in the Lu residence before?" Without turning away her eyes from where the odd woman set off, Lexi aimed her inquiry to Nico Zhuang who had this baffled expression plastered across his face.
"No, never." Recalling all of the times he was in the Lu family and every mission he was given, Nico Zhuang never once met that oddly dangerous lady who speaks as if she knew the deepest secret of the Lu family. Hence, his curiosity as to who she was.
"I see…" Nodding in understanding, Lexi pondered about it for a good minute before throwing it to the back of her head. "Let's go." Turning around, Lexi somehow felt a little more at ease as Seraphina Yue's indirect distraction slightly reduced her nervousness at meeting the whole Lu Clan.
For some reason, although she didn't know any particular reason why that woman always appears out of nowhere and gives her hints that she didn't realize sooner that would make her conscious about her surroundings, still, she had this trust towards the woman's words.
Granted that she was particularly weird in her own way, deep down, Lexi always unconsciously trusted her words; just like their last encounter in the elevator lift when she told her to be careful, Lexi actually had gotten a little more wary of her surroundings after that. But now, Seraphina Yue just gave clear advice of who she should be wary about the most.
Hence, whether she was saying the truth or not, at least, Lexi added someone on her list aside from the names Nico Zhuang mentioned that showed their apparent opposition to her man, Ethan Lu. It wouldn't hurt if she listened to her advice after all.

[Yang Mansion]
"Dear," Putting down baby onesies on her lap, Lillian Yang turned her head to where her husband laid… or to be exact, where he was sitting with his back against their bed's headboard while scanning a lion's costume he personally purchased when he passed by a baby clothing store after his meeting last week.
"Hmm?"
"Are we bad parents? Letting our daughter step into a dangerous family?" Softly speaking her concerns, Lillian Yang had a bittersweet smile on the side of her slightly curled lips. Although she was approving of Lexi's relationship with Ethan Lu ever since, she still has this type of worry that she could only talk to her husband about.
"I think, we are…" Placing down the baby lion's costume, Frederick Yang turned to meet the worried eyes of his wife. He reached his hand to her and held it tightly before loosening his grip a little. "Remember when Lexi was just 5 years old? With her persistence to play on a playground with other kids and we said she might get hurt, she cried her heart out so, in the end, we conceded because we cannot bear to see her cry..."
"Mhmm… I just hope we are not making the same mistake just like that time." Placing her other hand on top of Frederick Yang, Lillian Yang meekly smiled as she recalled the time when Lexi was kidnapped because of their negligence.
"It also terrifies me, honey." Saying his honest thought, Frederick Yang heavily sighed as he felt that both of them, husband and wife didn't learn their lesson back then. "But, I know this is worth the gamble… even if it's despicable. Let's trust Ethan to look after her."
"Dear, you really trust him, don't you?" Chuckling at the last remarks of her husband, Lillian Yang could not help but comment as she really could see how her husband trusted Ethan Lu more than he trusted anyone.
"What can I do? That child's honesty and sincerity are too ridiculous to someone who was raised to use people!" Chuckling back, although Ethan Lu didn't elaborate anything of the sort, but, by every piece of information he laid out on the table with every conversation he had with him, it wasn't hard to put the puzzle pieces together.
Still, if Ethan Lu was raised to use people just to benefit him then, for someone with that kind of mindset, Ethan Lu's every action towards Lexi never benefited him in any way. Moreover, he wasn't getting anything from the Yang family— even the contract of making the Yang Company operate under Ethan Lu's orders in the future despite knowing that all Frederick Yang and Lillian Yang's shares would directly be under Lexi's name when the time comes— leaving Ethan Lu no benefits at all, still, he signed the contract without blinking an eye or even reading the whole contract.
Therefore, for someone like him who was supposed to be a wicked man, a man whom shall benefit in any trade he does in any way, yet, with that single test of faith, Ethan Lu only proved to Frederick Yang that he was truly sincere with Lexi and showed zero interest with the Yang's little wealth compare to the Lu's.
"It is really unbelievable if we didn't know him." Lightly shaking her head sideways, Lillian Yang let out a faint chuckle as she understood her husband's thinking. After all, Frederick Yang would never put all his stakes in him if he didn't have good faith toward Ethan Lu without any strong trust built between both men.
"But, you know dear… you are growing bolder for showing me your personal purchase of baby costumes of your choice."
"What? You can buy fairy costumes but not me?" As both Yang parent's conversation diverted to arguments about the baby clothing, their hearts remained supportive and hoped for the best for Lexi and Ethan Lu. They hoped, inside their hearts that they would be able to return safe tonight, and every day after with a content heart due to their love with each other— no matter how tough their upcoming days ahead… they hope their love was enough to win in the end.
