The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 16 - Lexi Version 2.0

In the middle of the night, Lexi keeps on turning her body from side to side as she can't find herself to sleep. Staring at the well-designed ceiling, her mind was quite muddled with all the affairs she must take.

"What wrong, chu?" suddenly, Churu appeared in front of her with a questioning expression on her face. Since Lexi was quite accustomed to her, hence, she didn't mind her abrupt appearance as Lexi honestly mutters her concern.

"I just… you know -- repenting."

"You're forgiven, chu!" Churu affirmed with her ever sweet voice. She added, "Isn't it obvious?" referring to her second chance at life including the existence of the system and her.

"Yeah, whatever." Lexi rolls her eyes before repositioning herself and soon fell asleep.

---

After two days of researching more about her priority in the L-tech innovative financing company, Lexi was now ready for battle.

Standing in front of the mirror on her walked-in closet, Lexi was satisfied with her seemingly simple yet sophisticated business attire. With a white deep v-neck sleeve matched with a well-ironed nude in hue high waist slacks that emboss her noticeable height and nude patent pointed toe heels.

"You look super gorgeous, chu!" Churu's eyes gleam seeing Lexi in her battle suit. Indeed, Lexi had it all -- beauty, wealth and brains plus her natural classy demeanor. No wonder that her fame rose the instant she joined the entertainment industry albeit her crashed after all the scandal was also harsh and painful.

Nonetheless, Churu can't help but admire the sophisticated beauty standing before her. In her mind, Lexi's' profile was meant to be admired.

Grabbing an expensive tailored coat with the same nude color, her attire was now complete which satisfied Lexi and Churu even more.

"Shall we?" Turning her attention to the flying dumpling, Lexi invited before taking strides outside her luxurious, dream-like walked-in closet.

---

On the grandiose living area, her father Frederick and her mother Lillian Yang were having a peaceful tea. Turning their attention to their majestic looking daughter, they were curious where she was heading wearing a nice semi-formal attire.

"Dear, where are you heading?" Lillian Yang softly inquired while putting down her cup of tea and placed it on the small exquisitely designed table.

"Just about to meet someone." Lexi shrugs as she made her way towards her parent then slightly bow to show her respect to them.

"Your friends?" Fred instigates.

"Dad, I don't have friends -- just one." Lexi halts midway of her sentence then quickly glance on Churu who was now on top of the small table. Churu widely smiled knowing that it was her who she was referring.

"I see. Who is it? The young miss Che Diayu?" Lillian inquired as her gaze follows her daughter as Lexi sits beside her.

"No? Mom, the friend I was talking about, though she looks like a dumpling -- small and chunky, she is rather cute and pure. Diayu isn't cute nor pure, duh?" Lexi rolls her eyes being reminded of that brat Che Diayu who she treated as a friend but betrayed and took advantage of her downfall to get all her resources as an artist.

Surely, people will show their true colors at the lowest time of an individual. Hence, Lexi can now only see who's on her side and the people who have a pure intention to her.

"Oh dear, promise me, you won't cause any trouble again." Lillian felt troubled hearing her usual sassiness towards her view to others. Granting that Che Diayu and her daughter had a complicated friendship, alas, she doesn't want her good daughter to lose her mind again by the influences caused by her so-called friends.

In Lillian's mind, Lexi was originally a filial and bright child. Though her face was intimidating by the sharpness of her eyes and other facial features that makes people think that she is a fierce woman but, in contrast, she believes that her daughter is a sweet person.

The reason why she can't almost recognize her daughter when she was chasing after Morris and did her wrong deeds.

Staring back at her worried mother, Lexi placed her soft hands on her mother's, she reassured, "Mom, I know I did trouble you from my past action but now, all I want is for us to be happy. Revenge is a waste of time and energy -- I learned from my past mistakes and I will not take that route again."

Frederick and Lillian almost jolted from their seat and they can't believe their ears hearing Lexi's reassurance. Just a month ago, they can't almost talk to her about letting Morris go and just live her life to the fullest but it seems that their daughter turned to a new leaf after her suicide attempt.

"You might not believe me but, I will prove it to you. I won't let mommy and daddy down this time." Lexi added as the corner of her lips curled upward -- smiling sweetly to her mother then shift her gaze to her dignified father.

Churu who's witnessing their family time showed her thumbs up as if cheering their family's peace and harmony to last.
