The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 931: Traveling Back Home (I)
It took them about 19 hours to travel from Dusseldorf to Tokyo, with at least two hours of transit in Dubai. If it were Higo, he would’ve already suffered from jet lag by now, unable to stand straight after such a long trip.
However, this time was different.
No, even after sitting for that long, the boy was still quite fresh. The reason was simple here.
Besides the fact that Kumiko was sitting next to him, the journey was quite comfortable from the start to the very end.
"Urgh... If I knew that the Business class would be this luxurious, I would’ve asked Fujita-san to always get me one before!" He couldn’t help but whine while stretching his body.
Indeed, the biggest difference right now was that they were in a business class, where comfort was the number one priority.
Higo didn’t have to jostle with the other passengers in a narrow alleyway, dealing with the noises of babies crying inside the cramped place, or even fighting against the discomfort of having too little space to stretch his legs.
No, in business class, somehow, Higo felt like a king. The space was nice, the noise was non-existent, and he could sleep peacefully without having his body ached from everything.
It also helped that Kumiko sat next to him, and they spent most of their time above sharing an earphone while watching the newest anime on the Internet.
The whole experience somehow overwrote everything he knew about having a flight, and now, the boy couldn’t wait to get into another one with Kumiko.
The girl herself just smiled, knowing exactly what her boyfriend was thinking right now. However, she still felt a little bit guilty here.
"Are you sure it is okay for you to cover all the costs? I can ask Mom or even use the pocket money from my scholarship to contribute even just a little, you know?"
Higo just snorted when he heard that.
"Don’t think too much, Kumiko-chan. Even with the emergency fund and investment that I started to make, I still have too much money to handle. Besides, you are family here, so why would you still worry about every little thing like that?"
Kumiko was flustered for a moment here. Still, she couldn’t hide her smile at how casually her boyfriend said that she was family, feeling like they were closer than ever right now.
Higo himself was so satisfied when he listened to what he had just said.
It was always his dream to say something like ’Money doesn’t matter’ or something similar when they were hanging out, so it was satisfying to see Kumiko’s genuine happiness when that truly happened.
’Kumiko-chan is done, but I have never done something like that to Mom and Aya-nee. No, it has to change in this holiday break...’ He muttered under his breath, clenching his fists secretly.
After a long flight, they finally landed at Haneda Airport, and hearing the thick accent of Japanese people talking in English, coupled with the kanji words that could be seen all over the place, Higo couldn’t help but feel nostalgic right now.
’Yeah, I truly am back, huh?’ He murmured under his breath.
The situation in the Haneda Airport was somehow similar to the one in Dusseldorf. The airport was empty, filled with a tranquil silence, and the only people still strolling around were wearing masks.
It also didn’t help that people in this country always felt like it was taboo to speak loudly in a public room like this, so the airport felt like a graveyard right now.
Somehow, unlike in Germany, where the restriction started to loosen a little bit, in Japan, the virus itself still spread all across the country, so not a lot of people were willing to travel at this point.
Not that both Higo and Kumiko minded, of course, since their final destination wasn’t there.
No, they still had to wait for at least two hours for the flight to Sapporo, and after that, Kumiko’s mother would be waiting for them at the airport to bring those two back to Hakodate.
In total, with the journey from Dusseldorf to Tokyo being counted, they would be on the road for about 22 hours, a very long time for a one-way trip.
Still, they themselves didn’t mind it. This was basically their very first time traveling together as a couple, and it would be a lie if they said that they didn’t enjoy it.
During the time they were waiting for their next flight to Sapporo, they spent it strolling around, sightseeing everything there.
Kumiko would always stop in a cute place to take photos together, and Higo would tag along and make the funniest face that would make her giggle uncontrollably.
Honestly, if people didn’t know better, they would think that those two were in a honeymoon phase right now, enjoying flirting with each other even in public like this.
Soon enough, the plane that would bring them to Hokkaido finally arrived, and the moment they heard the announcement, both Higo and Kumiko dragged their luggage immediately, not wanting to be late.
Unlike the flight to Tokyo, though, the number of people going to Sapporo this time was a little bit higher. Higo could see that even in the business class, only a few seats were empty, with the others being filled by the other passengers.
Well, it was understandable, since Sapporo was one of the famous places in Japan for winter holidays.
Even though Higo himself had never been in one, he saw a lot of content on the internet about it, and it would be a lie if the boy said that he wasn’t tempted to do that.
Of course, that was just a thought in a flash. Once he was back in Hakodate, being under the warm kotatsu, his laziness would take over immediately, preventing him from going anywhere else outside.
For now, though, he didn’t think too much about it. No, the boy just focused his attention on the girl next to him, offering his hand with a sweet smile on his face.
"So? Ready to go back home?"
Kumiko’s eyes were beaming brightly as she nodded with great enthusiasm.
"Sure! Let’s go!"
