The break passed by quickly, and before anyone realized it, they had already found themselves back on the pitch again. They came back with a fresh energy, not even looking exhausted at all.

Well, how could they be tired, when the game itself ran so slow? If anything, the break would only make their body that had started to warm up cool down again, and now, it would take a while before they managed to adjust their state to the game once again.

Higo himself couldn’t help but yawn, stretching his stiff body a little bit. This was probably the first time in his career that the game had already run halfway without him having to make even a single save here.

Well... If Higo remembered, it shouldn’t be the first time, but the last time should be when he was in Hakodate Nishi, playing a prefectural tournament against small schools from Sapporo or any other place around. It was definitely not a Bundesliga team, making him feel strange about it right now.

’Yeah, who would’ve thought that a Bundesliga game could run this slow? The game is so boring that I could fall asleep in the middle of the pitch right now.’ He covered his mouth, trying to hide his second yawn in a row.

"What? Sleepy?" Ozan Kabak snorted when he saw Higo’s current state. "It is rare to see you like this in the middle of the game. Today is a slow one, huh?"

"Yeah, I cannot help it." Higo shook his head quickly, trying to get rid of his sleepiness. "I have never been this relaxed since playing for this team, you know? Always having to shout, run, jump, dive, and do so many crazy things to save the ball. I didn’t expect that my first easy game would be against a team one spot above us."

"Well, Union Berlin is not a team that is famous for their offense, so you cannot help it here." Timo Becker chimed in. "Anyway, don’t lose your concentration. If you make a mistake, the Boss will have your head rolling on the ground no matter how much he loves you."

Higo couldn’t help but snort when he heard that. At this point, the boy knew about the rumor among the team that he and Nassim were the coach’s illegitimate children. Not that he would refute that, as it seemed like this was way funnier than he initially thought.

"Don’t worry about me. There is no way I would slip in the middle of the game." He said confidently.

Timo Becker and Ozan Kabak stared at each other before they shrugged, knowing that Higo could always be trusted with responsibility on his back. Instead of worrying about him, it was better for them to put their concentration on the game. Unlike Higo, their concentration could still slip in the middle of the game, so any distraction was unacceptable.

Once everyone was on the pitch, the referee finally signaled his assistant on the sideline to raise the board. Two players were ready to come in as a substitution: Fabian from Schalke to replace Benito Raman and a new striker for Union Berlin to fill in for Anthony Ujah on the frontline.

Well, the Nigerian striker didn’t have a good game today, with him losing a lot of possessions when he should be able to get something, so the decision was a no-brainer here.

Soon enough, everyone was ready for the game, and the two players there, Caligliuri and Gregoritsch, were ready for the kick-off. The referee glanced around one last time, and a moment later...

FWEEE!

The whistle was finally blown again, and the ball moved quickly. From the two strikers to Ozan Kabak on the back, it only took three seconds here, and in that short period, five players had already rushed to the frontline, trying to occupy the strategic spots there for a fight toward the ball.

"COME ON, OZ! SEND IT HERE!"

"DON’T YOU DARE MESS THINGS UP!"

Yeah, for Morita’s replacement, it was the Turkish defender who took over the role as the initiator here. Even though he wasn’t as good as the Japanese midfielder when it came to distributing the ball, the man was still definitely one of the best on the team.

BAM!

A Hail Mary pass was launched a second later, and it went directly to the left side of the pitch. There, Fabian, who had just come from the bench, was ready to fight against the fullback in front of him, and in the next second...

BRUGH!

A collision occurred between those two!

"FUCK! CAPTAIN, YOU OKAY?!"

"FABIAN! GODDAMNIT!"

For a moment, people were panicking from that violent collision, wondering whether the two players were okay or not. However, it was Christopher Trimmel who first got up from the ground, as the captain couldn’t help but curse when he saw the ball just slipping through his defensive area behind him.

"FUCK! DON’T THINK TOO MUCH! GET THE BALL FIRST!"

That was when people realized that, indeed, the game was still on. Those two just collided hard in the air, and yet, none of them managed to get the ball. As a result, it just bounced on the ground, and soon enough, somehow, Juan Miranda managed to slip from everyone’s sight, picking it up before the ball could go out of bounds.

Thud!

"YES! Nice control, Juan!"

"Come on! Send it to the box!"

With just raising his left foot, Juan Miranda managed to stop the ball perfectly. He also glanced behind, finding that Union Berlin’s captain had just gotten up from the collision earlier.

His eyes darted fast to the penalty box, and there, the Spaniard saw Caligliuri and Gregoritsch pointing forward, asking for a cross close to the six-yard box. However, Juan Miranda also saw the opponent’s goalkeeper was ready to anticipate it, so instead of crossing there...

BAM!

The cross was still being sent, but this time, it was longer than anyone expected. Instead of going to the middle, the ball flew far to the back post, and there, a small figure suddenly came out of nowhere to get that ball.
