The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 757: Third Goal for Schalke!
It was the exact damn scenario again.
Defend. Defend. Defend. Then, when the timing was right, the ball would be launched to the center line, where Nassim Boujellab was already waiting to launch a counterattack. Honestly, it had become a theme for Schalke’s offense today, as they had done something similar so many times.
Still, if a tool worked once, why would they change it?
Nassim’s lethality was still there, and since the boy had been exempted from defensive duty, his stamina was still enough to deal with several defensive players in front of him. It also helped that the first goal came from the same scenario, so it was easier for Schalke’s players to trust the boy again to initiate the counterattack.
The moment the ball landed on the boy’s chest, some Dortmund players cursed immediately, moving back as quickly as possible to delay the counter.
"Shit! Kanji! Move back! Don’t rush things up!"
"Delay! Delay! He cannot get through you both alone! Wait for the others!"
At this point, this was the best tactic to handle this situation. They didn’t believe that Nassim would be able to get rid of two defenders in front of him so easily, not when those two were bigger and stronger than him.
However, it was clear that they had never dealt with Nassim before. The boy might be small, but his gut was bigger than the universe. He saw a little gap between Hummels and Akanji, and the boy didn’t even hesitate, pushing the ball further as if he was about to get through that tiny gap.
This move definitely caught Matt Hummels off guard, as he stopped moving back and instead got ready to anticipate Nassim’s arrival.
That was exactly what the Moroccan winger had been waiting for. The moment he had their full attention, they wouldn’t be able to notice someone moving from their blind spot, and right when the ball was within Matt Hummels’ reach, as the defender was about to clear the ball away, Nassim extended his left foot far, poking it first with his toe.
Thud!
The ball changed direction immediately, and when Hummels glanced back at where it would go, his eyes widened in shock as he had just realized that Daniel Caligliuri beat the offside trap to receive the pass, facing the goalkeeper in a one-on-one contest there.
"FUCK! How could I forget?!"
Yeah, Matt Hummels somehow forgot that Lukasz Piszczek was not here to have his back anymore. Well, how couldn’t he, when it looked like Schalke didn’t intend to take advantage of the missing player there at first. Hummels was too busy joining the attack and distributing the ball, so once this happened, all he could do was curse.
Then, in the penalty box, Daniel Caligliuri did a very good job there, executing the ball coldly. He just used his inside foot to get it through Gregor Kobel’s left side, and...
Thud!
The ball found the back of the net once again, giving Schalke their second lead of the game!
"OH! COME ON!" The bearded man roared immediately, starting to jump around like a lunatic. "LET’S FUCKING GO!"
He laughed loudly while spreading his arms wide, and soon enough, all the Schalke players followed him, jumping into his hug with the same enthusiasm.
"FUCK, CALI! THAT’S THE GOAL! THAT’S THE FUCKING GOAL!"
"COME ON! WE ARE THE KING OF THE NORTH!"
"LET’S GOOOO!"
Nassim Boujellab even came to the cameraman, kissing the lens there before joining the celebration again. The boy was probably the happiest person on earth right now, as in his debut, he managed to bag three assists against the team’s biggest rival in the country.
Yeah, a hat-trick of assists.
This was definitely an achievement worth bragging about.
The rest of the team didn’t forget to slap him on the head, shaking their head probably in awe. Who would’ve thought that a boy who only joined the first team for a week would be able to turn the tide like this, activating Schalke’s death offense and turning it into a lethal weapon like this?
Meanwhile, Higo was also celebrating on the back. His excitement was palpable, but more than anything else, his breath became easier as the boy felt like a huge boulder was lifted off his shoulders.
’Yes! We are finally on a two-goal lead! We can do this!’ He clenched his fist tightly.
Even though no supporters were coming, the boy knew how important this derby was for the people of Gelsenkirchen, and while he regretted that he didn’t become the biggest hero today, just bringing the victory back to the city alone was something that he would brag about when Bosch, the fans’ legendary pub, was finally open again.
At this point, all the fear toward Erling Haaland evaporated quickly as well, and looking at the Norwegian striker who was so frustrated here, a smug smile formed on Higo’s face.
’Yeah, conceding a goal doesn’t really matter when my team can return it three-fold. You can add it to your statistics, and instead, I will take this win with my team!’
Of course, he would never say it out loud. After all, even without the supporters around, they were still the away team here, so it was not appropriate to provoke the opponent too much. No, those guys also had their own temper, and they could strike back with violence if their bottom limit was tested too far.
Still, now with only ten minutes left before the game ended, chasing two goals was not an easy task to do, and the best they could get here would just be a draw. For Dortmund, this would hurt them more than anything else.
That... Was if they could get two goals, of course.
As Higo went back to his territory, he took a deep breath once again, putting all of his concentration on the pitch before his gaze turned serious once again.
’Now that we are far ahead, everything will depend on me again! Come on! Victory should be ours today!’
