The Rise of the Iron Wall!

Chapter 675 - 5V5, Frohling Scheme?!

  • Next Chapter

Well, unfortunately, Higo’s hope of not making any enemies in the first training session that he joined was shattered to pieces by Frohling, as the head coach suddenly made a weird and shocking decision there.

"5v5 session, small side pitch. The first team to get five goals is winning the game." The man said flatly. "The catch? Higo, Oz, Morita, Hofmann, and Fabian will be in the same team for the rest of the session. Whoever wins against them, they will wash the winner’s socks for the entire week. Any complaints?"

This was enough to make the players there intrigued, turning their predatory eyes at those five whose names were just mentioned.Higo also felt all the hair on his body rise instantly, feeling the hostility around him grow to the peak.

"No, Boss, this is not fair!" Hofmann complained the first time. "Four out of five of us are just getting promoted from the second team! How can we—" However. Before he finished his words, the boy stopped instantly, his eyes widening in realization. In the end, he didn’t even finish his protest, just nodding quietly while also looking at the coach with complicated eyes.

Higo himself was still confused about this situation. He looked at the coach strangely, as if he was a complete stranger and not someone who called him up to the first team. Hell, even for a single second, the boy couldn’t help but doubt the man’s identity, wanting to come forward and pinch the coach’s face to see if it was someone in disguise or not.

However, Morita next to him was buzzing in excitement. The boy saw Higo’s confusion and whispered, "Sensei is paving a way for us to join the main squad. It seems that he still wants to rely on us, but if we cannot even handle those trash who are at the bottom of the table, that means we still don’t deserve to be the main players. So, give it your all, Higo!"

Well... while Higo was still confused about some things here, he caught one important point from his friend’s words. This was Frohling’s help to pave the way for him in the first team, so he had to take it seriously.

"Don’t worry, leave the back side to me." Higo nodded solemnly.

Besides the four former second-team players, the team also had Ozan Kabak, a Turkish center back who was quite humongous. He was the perfect image of a defender; tall, quick, and muscular. People could even say that he was the team’s best player so far. Not that it meant a lot, since the team itself was only at the bottom of the table.

Still, that didn’t make the rest of the team afraid. Hell, if anything, they just mocked Ozan Kabak for his misfortune.

"Heh! Being paired with four rookies, it seems the new boss is trying to target you, Oz!"

"Well, get ready, I will pick my worst socks for you to wash!"

Ozan Kabak just sighed wryly as he couldn’t really answer the mockery around him. While the coach had reassured him privately that those four were reliable, his impression of them was just a bunch of kids messing around in an adult field. No matter how talented they were, it wouldn’t be enough to face the players in front of him.

Unfortunately, he had no choice here. The Turkish man had to accept this order while also grumbling inwardly, ’Yeah, it seems the coach wants to make an example of me. Damn, what a bastard old man!’

"Okay, first team to face them!" Frohling didn’t even bat his eyes under Ozan Kabak’s glare. "Nubel! Kenny! Weston! Omar! Ahmed! You five are up!"

Another round of gasps could be heard from the players. Those five were definitely the pillars of the team, having been regulars not just for the first five games of the season, but for almost all the games last year. Putting them against a bunch of rookies seemed to be too much, somehow making it more believable that the coach was targeting those four newbies.

Still, this didn’t dampen the boys’ enthusiasm. Hell, if anything, those four were way too excited, especially Morita.

"Damn! You don’t know this, Higo, but I’ve been isolated by those fucking old men in every single training session! This is the best chance for me to take revenge, so I cannot wait to destroy them straight away!" The midfielder’s eyes were beaming with murderous intent.

Hofmann just snorted lightly, sending a little chop to Morita’s head.

"Don’t try to kill them literally; they are still your teammates. It will be troublesome if they get injured in this phase." However, in the next second, his grin was full of malicious intent as he added, "Maybe, humiliate them once or twice is okay. Make sure they remember our name, Morita."

The grin on both midfielders’ faces matched, and Fabian couldn’t help but have a sweat drop here. "Yeah, you can see that they start developing a sadistic streak here, Higo. It is so hard to control them so that they wouldn’t lash out at any other players here."

Higo also smiled wryly, muttering, "Thank you for your hard work..." He also shook his head in exasperation.

Soon enough, the players from both teams were finally ready, and the small pitch that was going to be used for this training session was also cleared. Higo stood in front of the goal that was smaller than normal, taking a deep breath while also trying to gather his concentration.

From his spot, he could see the opponent’s players gazing at him hungrily, as if they were ready to destroy him at any time they wanted. Higo wouldn’t lie and said that this didn’t intimidate him, but more than anything else, he could also feel the same excitement as what Morita and Hofmann showed earlier.

’This is exactly the same as when I first came to the second team, huh?’ He couldn’t help but grin at his own memory. ’Damn, Frohling-sensei sure knows how to make it exciting! Now, let’s see how capable those so-called ’main players’ are...’
