The Rejected Luna Rising
Chapter 58: To present my witness
The next morning, Andrew and Caroline flew back to Sylvaterra with Emmett. However, instead of landing at Redwood High, their private jet touched down at the capital’s royal airfield.
The moment they stepped off the jet, a sleek black car stood waiting on the tarmac.
Miller stepped forward, bowing respectfully to the Alpha Prince and then to Caroline. He turned to Emmett, and the two shared a brief handshake before moving toward the vehicle.
Nearby, a man dressed in a dark outfit quietly pulled out his phone and made a quick call.
"Emmett is with Prince Andrew," he reported in a low voice. "They are heading directly to the palace."
He ended the call and straightened his posture, glancing around to ensure his presence remained unnoticed.
There was a complete silence in the car. Caroline was quite worried, thinking what the Alpha King’s decision would be after hearing Emmett. She was confident that His Majesty wouldn’t be able to deny punishment to Victor, but at the same time, she had a slight worry deep in her chest.
Amidst her worriesome thoughts, Andrew’s hand rested on hers. She turned her head, finding a certain relief that everything would be fine.
The drive finally came to an end as the car glided smoothly to a stop in front of the main palace entrance, right near the cascading grand fountain. Miller moved swiftly, opening the rear door for Andrew. Stepping out first, Andrew immediately reached back into the vehicle, offering his hand to help Caroline down.
Emmett exited from the opposite side.
"Andrew, the palace is so large. I wonder if I will be welcomed here," Caroline raised a doubt.
"As long as I am welcomed, you are welcomed too," Andrew stated and held her hand.
Seeing the royal vehicle, one of the palace guards sprinted ahead inside to announce the arrival.
"Andrew and Caroline are here?" Davian exclaimed, a shock cutting through his composure as he set his fountain pen down.
Beside him, Alarick turned toward the guard, his eyes narrowing as he wondered what had prompted his brother’s unexpected return.
"Yes, Your Majesty," the guard confirmed with a brief bow.
Davian dismissed him with a subtle wave, placing his pen in its holder. "Let’s go see what brings them back," he said, rising from his mahogany desk. His valet stepped forward instantly, draped his dark overcoat across his shoulders, and stepped back as the Alpha King headed for the doors.
Both father and son headed down the grand hallway toward the main reception hall. There, Andrew and Caroline entered, with Miller and Emmett following closely behind them.
"Your Majesty," they greeted the Alpha King in unison, bowing their heads before acknowledging Alarick with the same formal deference.
"Andrew, come here!" Davian’s stern expression softened into a rare smile as he spread his arms, ready to embrace his youngest son.
Andrew stepped forward into his father’s hold, and the two shared a warm hug.
"It’s great to see you. Take a seat, all of you," Davian said, intentionally avoiding eye contact with Caroline as he gestured toward the velvet sofas.
Andrew immediately walked back to Caroline’s side, placing a hand on the small of her back and guiding her to sit first. Watching the quiet gesture, Davian’s eyes narrowed slightly, realizing just how deeply devoted his youngest son was to the omega.
"How dare you bring an omega into this palace?!" Seraphina’s voice boomed through the main hall before anyone could settle.
At the sharp lash of the Luna Queen’s tone, Caroline instinctively stood up, her nerves spiking. Miller and Emmett immediately rose as well, tensing in response.
Andrew slowly stood back up, his expression turning cold as he looked his mother in the eye. "If you cannot address my Luna with respect, then leave this hall, Mom. You’re not needed here anyway."
"Look at how you speak to me! Telling the Queen to leave!" Seraphina snapped, her cheeks flushing with anger. "The older you get, the more disrespectful you become toward your own mother!"
"Both of you need to calm down," Davian cut in smoothly, casting a firm warning glance toward his wife. "Andrew has returned to the palace after a long time. Save the arguments for later."
"Ask that woman to leave," Seraphina demanded, pointing an accusing finger toward Caroline. "An omega does not sit among royalty."
"I am well aware that you have never cared for me or respected my choices, but do not speak to Caroline like that," Andrew affirmed, stepping slightly in front of her. His stance was firm as his gaze locked onto Seraphina. "As long as I am in this palace, she stays by my side. Anyone who has an issue with her presence is free to walk out, but Caroline is not going anywhere."
"Omegas do not sit at the same table as high-ranking royals," Nina chimed in from the doorway, her voice dripping with condescension. "Caroline, as an omega, you should have known your place."
"I am not here to stay," Caroline finally spoke up. She looked straight at the Alpha King. "I am here to present my witness and clear my name once and for all."
Nina furrowed her brows in immediate confusion, her posture stiffening.
"Your witness?" Davian questioned, his interest piqued. He shifted his gaze between Miller and the unfamiliar second beta standing silently beside him.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Caroline stated, turning her gaze toward Emmett.
Receiving her signal, Emmett gave a nod and stepped into the center of the hall.
Nina’s heart plummeted the moment his face came into full view. Color drained from her cheeks as she instantly recognized the man.
Emmett bowed deeply to the royal family before straightening his posture, his voice echoing with unflinching resolve. "I am Emmett, former Head Beta to Alpha Victor of the Crystal Moon Pack. I am here to confirm that Victor was indeed involved with Caroline for over a year before he ever initiated his affair with Princess Nina. More importantly," he paused, his jaw tightening as he looked Davian in the eye, "Victor is the one who personally issued the order that night. He commanded us to execute Caroline and slaughter her entire family."
