The Reincarnated Hitman

Chapter 116: Magnus’ Perfect Beings

BOOM!

The creature looked down at the flattened elevator beneath it, but unlike what it expected, there was no blood pooling out of it.

Its instincts suddenly went haywire, causing it to lift its head just in time to notice a figure falling towards it with a katana in hand.

The Abarrent lifted its arm in an attempt to block the incoming attack, but the blade sliced straight through its arm before its attacker rolled out of the elevator shaft.

Zero then stood up, shook the purple blood off the blade and finally got a good look at the Abarrent before him.

Like the four he encountered earlier, this one was also humanoid, but it seemed much larger. And unlike the others, this one had multiple arms, one of which the hitman had cut off.

Instead of roaring in anger or pain, the Aberrant simply lifted the arm towards its face, and Zero watched as it regrew it.

"I guess they could do that too," the hitman muttered with a frown on his face. Still, he readied his sword to attack the creature.

The Aberrant looked at him for a while, and the next second,

BOOM!

Zero’s eyes widened as the creature closed the distance between them in an instant. The hitman quickly moved his katana between him and the Aberrant, causing one of its hands to slam into it, launching him backwards into a wall.

The hitman crashed through multiple walls before finally stopping, and he lay there for a while.

"That hurt... quite a lot," Zero muttered before slowly getting up.

His katana was still somehow intact, but his arms were now quite heavy from the impact. But he simply shook it off and focused back on the Abarrent.

The creature wasn’t about to give him a chance to recover as it was suddenly upon him again, with its arms swinging.

Zero managed to move quickly enough to avoid the attack, letting it slam into the wall behind him and leaving the Abarrent wide open.

Taking advantage of this, the hitman swung his katana towards its neck, and the blade managed to start digging through its flesh.

But before Zero could finish the motion, another arm suddenly swung towards his side.

"!"

He quickly pulled his sword back and blocked.

CLANG!

The impact sent him sliding backward, and again, the Aberrant didn’t give him any time to recover.

Its remaining arms began attacking one after another, forcing the hitman to dodge again and again.

Zero ducked beneath a fist before quickly leaning backwards to avoid another one that came from the side. He then stepped back just in time to avoid a claw that tore through the position where his head had been a moment ago.

"You’re quite fast," Zero muttered as he continued dodging.

The Aberrant, slowly getting annoyed, suddenly swung all four of its arms at him simultaneously, leaving Zero with nowhere to move.

BOOM!

The attacks landed, but instead of the hitman, the arms slammed into a wall that the hitman had created with his Factor.

Zero smiled as he looked at the confusion on the creature’s face as it looked at the metal wall that had come out of nowhere.

"Got you," the hitman said, and the next second, the wall seemed to start melting and wrapping itself around the Aberrant’s arms.

ROAR!!!!

The creature let out a roar as it tried to pull itself away from the metal, but it was all for naught as it was completely stuck in place.

It watched helplessly as the metal spread all over its arms and crawled up all over its body, creating some sort of metal suit around it.

The metal soon started heating up as Zero turned around and started heading towards the metal door in front of him.

The Abarrent, meanwhile, struggled within the metal for a while, but in the end,

BOOM!

An explosion went off from within while the metal still held its shape, giving the Abarrent no chance of escaping or even regenerating.

A couple of seconds later, the metal disappeared, revealing just a purple puddle that used to be the Abarrent.

Zero, on the other hand, didn’t turn back to look at the result; instead, he continued forward, stopping when he was directly in front of the door.

The hitman then looked up at the camera, knowing that Dr. Magnus was watching him, so he said, "Do I have to knock?"

"How fascinating," the mad scientist’s voice came through the camera, "a construction type factor that allows you to create what you desire."

Well, that was quite an accurate guess from just a single obvious use.

"I wonder if you’ll be able to handle it," the scientist continued, "but even if you do end up becoming an Abarrent, your Factor could prove to be quite useful."

"I’m guessing you want me to knock?" Zero ignored his words and asked again, but the door simply opened as Magnus said, "Come in."

The hitman walked into the lab, and the sight he witnessed caused his expression to go blank "Perhaps I should’ve brought help."

There were multiple Aberrants within the lab, each of a different size, and if the hitman had to guess, they had come from the tubes with broken glass.

Standing at the far end of the lab was his target, Dr. Magnus Krell.

The mad scientist had both arms wide open as he said, "Welcome to the world of perfection.... I can’t wait for you to become one of my perfect beings."

Instead of his words or even the Abarrents, the hitman was more interested in the crack in space with the purple swirling vortex within.

"What’s that?" He asked, curious.

Magnus turned to the rift and placed a hand on the bottom of his mask again. "I’m not quite sure, but it’s what fuels my perfect creations."

He then turned back to the hitman and added, "And if the HA thinks they’ll take it away from me again, like the Fracture Event, then they’re mistaken."

"The Fracture Event?" Zero seemed a bit surprised, especially given that he had been trying to find answers about that event for a year now.

"What? Is the HA surprised that I recovered my memories of it?" Magnus misunderstood Zero’s surprised expression. "Too bad, I’m not an idiot like Victor."

"I knew those bastards will try to mind-wipe me, so I secured all my memories within the dark room," he said with a grin, "and that was all I needed to recall them."

"Quite smart, aren’t I?"

Zero was mostly uninterested in the fact that Magnus was smart enough to back up his memories; rather,

"What’s the dark room?"
