The Reincarnated Hitman

Chapter 109: Her Family Wants To Meet Him?

Ding!

Liam’s phone rang, and he picked it up with a smile on his face as he saw who the message was from.

{My Radiance: Hey.}

{Liam: Hey.}

{My Radiance: Are you free right now?}

{Liam: Yeah. Why?}

A few seconds passed before another message appeared.

{My Radiance: I was wondering if you wanted to go somewhere with me.}

He smiled at her response. Ever since they started dating six months back, he had always been the one taking the lead.

Unfortunately, this month had been a busy one for both Zero and Liam, so he had ended up neglecting their relationship more than he would have liked.

He had barely had enough time to see her, let alone take her out somewhere, so he was quite surprised that she had taken the initiative.

The hitman liked this feeling.

{Liam: Of course. Where do you want to go?}

He watched as the typing bubble appeared and disappeared, an indication that she was reconsidering what to say.

Finally, she sent a message,

{My Radiance: my family wants to meet you.}

The hitman froze at that reply. Of course he knew that they’d demand to see who she was dating... eventually, but this was too soon.

Especially given that they’d only been dating for a few months.

Still, he typed,

{Liam: I see, then should I dress formally?}

The typing bubble appeared almost immediately.

{My Radiance: No.}

A second message followed,

{My Radiance: Just wear something comfortable.}

It was strange seeing Olivia act like this.

Usually, she was the more reserved one between the two of them, especially when it came to their relationship.

Even after six months of dating, Liam was still usually the one suggesting where they should go or what they should do.

So seeing her take the initiative was surprisingly refreshing, despite the fact that he would still be meeting her family later.

Ding!

{My Radiance: I’ll be there soon.}

{Liam: Alright. I’ll be waiting.}

He put his phone down before leaning back in his chair, and a thought suddenly crossed his mind.

’Perhaps this is why she’s been acting so strange lately.’ he knew Olivia had been avoiding the subject lately.

He also knew that she didn’t exactly get along with them- well, by them, he meant her mother- but the comic never seemed to resolve that part of her life.

Mostly because it was still unfinished by the time the hitman died.

Then again, if this was about her family, then did that mean she was ready to reveal that she was Radiance to him?

"No use overthinking it," he said, standing up and walking towards his wardrobe.

Ding!

{My Radiance: I’m at the door.}

Olivia texted a few minutes later. Liam looked at the message, and a small frown appeared on his face.

Usually, she’d head right in, but given that she hadn’t shown how nervous she really was.

He stood up from the couch and walked toward the door.

The moment he opened it, he found Olivia standing right outside.

She was dressed casually, just as she had told him to be, but her expression confirmed his thoughts,

She was nervous.

"Hey," Liam said with a smile, trying to ease her mood, "you look great in that."

"Thank you," Olivia responded, looking up at him. "You don’t look so bad yourself."

He chuckled at her response before extending his hand towards her. "Shall we?"

Olivia hesitated for a moment before reaching out and taking his hand.

"Let’s go."

Liam looked down at their intertwined hands. He hadn’t expected her to be this nervous, but he could understand why.

The two soon found themselves in Liam’s car, and he quickly pulled out of the parking lot.

"Are you okay?" Liam asked after driving for a while, seeing how quiet she was.

Olivia turned towards him, stared at his face for a while before letting out a sigh and saying, "I really didn’t want you to meet my family."

He glanced at her, and she immediately tried to clarify her words.

"You see... My family is quite different from yours," Olivia explained, "they’re...strange."

"Strange?" Liam asked.

"That’s one way to describe it." Olivia gave him a small, helpless smile. "My mother is very... particular."

She leaned back against the seat and looked out the window. "She tries to control everything about my life."

"Who I spend time with. Who I associate with. How I behave in public. Even the people I date."

Liam’s eyes narrowed slightly as he asked, "So she’s going to interrogate me?"

Olivia quickly turned toward him.

"No!" She paused and then added, "... Probably."

Liam chuckled before he nodded. "I see, then I’ll have to try my hardest to gain her approval."

"I’m serious."

"I know."

Olivia sighed before looking down at her hands. "I just don’t want you to think badly of me because of them."

She had no idea. It was basically impossible for him to think badly of her, no matter what.

Still, he couldn’t let her find out that he was an obsessed idiot just yet.

So, his expression softened as he called out to her, "Olivia."

She looked at him.

"Your family doesn’t determine who you are."

She stared at him for a few seconds before looking away again.

"I know, but—"

"Then there’s nothing to worry about," he added with a smile, "besides, you’re the one I’m dating, not them."

Olivia looked at him for a while before smiling and leaning back. Raika was right; all she had to do was talk with Liam, and she was feeling reassured again.

"Was that why you seemed so nervous?" Liam suddenly interrupted her thoughts, reminding her of yet another why she didn’t want him to meet her family just yet.

Though her family was already made aware of the fact that he didn’t know that she was Radiance, she still couldn’t trust that they wouldn’t mention it.

Especially if they intended to use that fact to look down on Liam.

"I think I changed my mind," She suddenly spoke up, "let’s turn back."
