Chapter 1093
“Uh….”
Raon scratched his head as he watched Runaan and Sloth fall asleep simultaneously, as if they were competing.
“W-what is this?”
Normally, he wouldn’t have responded to Wrath, but the unexpected situation forced him to speak.
‘Why are they just falling asleep without saying a word to each other!’
Since he had explained the situation to Sloth beforehand, he thought Sloth would either talk to Runaan and then hand over Sloth, or simply refuse. He never imagined they would just fall asleep instantly without a single word.
‘Was this how the trial of Sloth worked?’
Raon looked back at Wrath with blank eyes.
》”This King does not know either!”
Wrath waved his hand as if telling Raon not to ask him.
》”Looking at him today, he’s not just a sleepyhead; he’s a complete lunatic!”
Wrath gnashed his teeth, declaring that he would no longer treat Sloth as a Demon King.
‘Still, it seems like she wasn’t rejected.’
Raon let out a sigh of relief.
‘Given Sloth’s personality, he would have refused immediately if he didn’t like her.’
Sloth was relaxed and easygoing, but he was the type to be clear about what he wanted. Seeing as he fell asleep without speaking, it was certain that he had felt something from Runaan.
‘If it’s Runaan, she’ll be able to pass.’
Among the people he knew, there was no human who slept more than Runaan. Even Rimmer, who was an expert in laziness, was no match for Runaan when it came to sleeping.
“Um….”
Dorian approached Raon, glancing around cautiously.
“The Sloth Demon King is testing Runaan-nim right now, right?”
Having heard the story, he licked his lips in curiosity.
“It seems so.”
Raon nodded, looking at Runaan and Sloth, who were both snoring in unison.
“T-then, when is this going to end?”
Dorian scratched his cheek, as if that were the most important point.
“From what I know, once Runaan-nim settles in for a nap, she won’t wake up even if someone carries her away. And that Demon King didn’t wake up once during the entire month Raon-nim was training!”
His jaw trembled at the thought that they might end up spending another month here if things went wrong.
“Hmm….”
Raon lowered his eyebrows as he looked at Runaan, who was curled up in her blanket.
“Still, Runaan is human. Won’t she wake up after sleeping for about two days?”
Since Sloth was the Sloth Demon King, he had no limit to his sleep, but Runaan was human and shouldn’t be able to sleep for that long.
“True. There is a limit to human sleep.”
Evelyn stroked Runaan’s face—which looked as cute as a child’s while sleeping—with the back of her hand. Strangely, there seemed to be a bit of strength in her fingertips.
‘Come to think of it….’
Raon narrowed his eyes as he looked at Evelyn.
‘I wonder if I could connect Evelyn with Lust, similar to Runaan and Sloth?’
Rather than Lust’s Divine Authority of [Lust], it seemed possible to fill the connection by utilizing the trait of obsession.
Tap.
Just as Raon licked his lips while thinking of Lust, the Sword Monarch and the Blade Monarch climbed to the summit of Stehrin Mountain.
Beside them was a handsome blond youth with slumped shoulders; it appeared that Gold Dragon Parateus had transformed into a human.
“Hm?”
The Sword Monarch’s eyes widened as she saw Runaan sleeping next to Sloth.
“We’ve gained another cute friend?”
She smiled faintly, finding Runaan’s sleeping figure adorable.
“This child is also strong, far beyond her young age.”
The Blade Monarch let out a breath of admiration, sensing Runaan’s martial power.
“It seems Zieghart truly only harbors monsters.”
He nodded, impressed by Runaan just as he had been by Raon.
“Forget that human, look at that guy!”
Gold Dragon Parateus pointed a trembling finger at Sloth.
“I’m telling you, that’s the Sloth Demon King! He’ll sleep a sleep that is absolutely impossible for a human, so watch closely!”
His golden eyes flashed, as if he had already deduced Sloth’s identity.
“Here we go again!”
The Sword Monarch frowned and smacked the back of Parateus’s head.
“I told you to stop.”
The Blade Monarch also pushed Parateus’s mouth shut, telling him to be quiet.
Smack!
Hit on the back of the head and the mouth simultaneously, Parateus tumbled forward and slammed his head into the ground.
“Ugh….”
Even while groaning, he didn’t take his eyes off Sloth.
“You’ll see! You’ll see! I’m absolutely right!”
Parateus screamed, declaring that he would not look away from Sloth.
“Sigh, we are sorry.”
“We have no excuse for our companion’s behavior before the Lord.”
The Sword Monarch and the Blade Monarch bowed their heads, lamenting that they had raised the dragon poorly.
“It’s fine.”
Raon curled his lips into a smile as he looked at the determined Parateus.
“If we keep watching as he says, the misunderstanding will be cleared up.”
===
Five days had passed since Runaan and Sloth fell asleep. The two of them didn’t wake up once, letting out only faint breaths.
“See! I told you I was right!”
Parateus stomped his feet, glaring at Sloth.
“Have you ever seen a human sleep for five days straight without being unconscious or sick?!”
He clenched his fist, convinced that Sloth was definitely a Demon King.
“Don’t stop me now! I’ll annihilate that guy….”
“Hey.”
The Sword Monarch’s kind and gentle face crumpled like a hungry beast.
“Do those flashy eyeballs of yours not see the child next to him?”
She growled, pointing to Runaan, who was sleeping on the opposite side of Sloth.
“What?”
Parateus blinked, confused.
“Parateus.”
The Blade Monarch sighed and stood beside Parateus.
“What does that child look like to you?”
He pointed his finger at Runaan.
“A human.”
Parateus frowned, as if he were being asked something obvious.
“Then do you know how long that child has been sleeping?”
“Since we arrived. Five days… Gasp!”
Only then did he realize that Runaan and Sloth had slept for the exact same amount of time, and his mouth fell open.
“A human who has slept for five days without being sick is right in front of your eyes. How do you explain this?”
The Blade Monarch tilted his chin, challenging him to speak with that arrogant mouth.
“T-this makes no sense…?”
Parateus panted as he looked at Runaan.
“Who is she to sleep like that! How can a human sleep for five days?!”
He clutched his head, unable to comprehend Runaan.
“….”
Raon said nothing, but he agreed with Parateus.
‘I didn’t know Runaan could sleep that much either.’
He thought she would wake up on her own after about two days, but he never expected her to sleep for five full days without waking once. She almost didn’t seem human.
“Let’s start over.”
The Sword Monarch nudged Parateus with a sweet tone.
“Who is she again?”
She pointed her finger at Runaan.
“S-she’s human, but is she really human?”
Parateus’s voice trembled, lacking conviction.
“She is! She’s human! Definitely!”
He nodded, admitting that while she slept a lot, she was indeed human.
“Then what about him?”
The Sword Monarch moved her finger to Sloth.
“A-a Demon King? No, a human…? I don’t know….”
Parateus’s eyes began to waver, his perception of Sloth’s identity becoming blurred because of Runaan.
“Get a grip! That’s a Demon King. Definitely a Demon King!”
He slapped his own cheek and shouted again that Sloth was a Demon King.
Smack!
The Sword Monarch kicked Parateus in the rear. This time, she put quite a bit of strength into it.
“Aaaagh!”
Parateus leaped into the air, clutching his backside.
“This won’t do. You need a beating.”
The Sword Monarch wrapped her arm around Parateus’s neck.
“I’ll educate you until you call the sun the moon.”
She muttered for him to look forward to it and jumped down the mountain, dragging Parateus with her.
“Our apologies. We will return after properly teaching him this time.”
The Blade Monarch bowed politely and followed the Sword Monarch down the mountain.
“Aaaaaagh!”
Not long after the two and the dragon descended, a piercing scream echoed through the air.
》”Oof….”
Wrath glanced down the mountain and furrowed his brows.
》”This is the first time I’ve felt pity for a lizard.”
He shook his head, thinking the dragon had moved beyond being a pushover to being truly pathetic.
》”You knew it would turn out like this, didn’t you?”
‘Of course.’
Raon nodded with a smile.
‘I thought Runaan would hold her own. Though I didn’t expect it to last five days.’
He had thought Runaan would clear up the suspicions about Sloth, but five days was far beyond his expectations.
“Runaan-nim is truly something else….”
Dorian shook his head while looking at Runaan. He had set up a large camp and was munching on snacks while lying in a warm bed; he seemed to have fully adapted by now.
“I agree. It’s not sleep magic, but can a person really sleep that much?”
Evelyn also tilted her head, surprised by Runaan’s desire for sleep.
“I hope she wakes up soon.”
Just as Raon let out a short sigh.
“Mmm….”
Runaan slowly lifted her eyelids.
“I want to eat bead ice cream….”
She licked her lips, blinking her vacant eyes.
“Dorian.”
Raon gestured to Dorian.
“Yes!”
As if he had been waiting for this moment, Dorian pulled bead ice cream from his waist pouch and brought it to Runaan.
“Thank you….”
Runaan gave a small nod and immediately began eating the ice cream. Looking at her, it really seemed like she woke up simply because she wanted bead ice cream.
‘Looking at it this way, she really doesn’t seem human.’
Seeing her wake up after five days of sleep and immediately eat bead ice cream made Runaan look even stranger than Sloth.
“Did you always sleep this long?”
Raon tilted his head and approached Runaan.
“It’s cool here, so sleep comes easily….”
Runaan gave a very faint smile, saying she had finally had a proper sleep. For her, this was a significant expression of emotion.
‘Could she have been influenced by Sloth next to her? If so….’
Just as Raon narrowed his eyes while looking at Runaan’s vacant gaze.
Whoosh!
Sloth pushed aside the blanket that had covered him up to his head and leisurely rose from the bed.
Thump!
Runaan also put down her ice cream and slowly sat up.
“….”
“….”
Without a word, Runaan and Sloth approached each other. Standing face-to-face, they both thrust their right hands forward.
Slap!
A crisp high-five. Runaan and Sloth clashed their palms intensely, as if celebrating their satisfying sleep.
Watching this, Wrath uttered only one phrase.
》”Pathetic….”
“Truly… there was….”
Sloth nodded heavily.
“A human… like me….”
He looked at Runaan with eyes full of goodwill.
“You slept quite a bit too…?”
Runaan blinked, noting that this was the first time she’d met someone who could keep up with her sleep. She, too, acknowledged Sloth.
“Your name… is… what…?”
Sloth tilted his chin toward Runaan.
“Runaan Sullion….”
Runaan swallowed a mouthful of bead ice cream and revealed her name.
“Runaan Sullion…. Your goal… is… what….”
Surprisingly, Sloth asked about Runaan’s goal first.
“I haven’t finished what I have to do yet….”
Runaan fiddled with the blanket and bit her lip.
“I want to give that person peace, and then sleep deeply….”
Despite having slept for five days, she nodded, saying she wanted to sleep deeply.
‘That person must be….’
Raon let out a short sigh, observing Runaan’s slightly darkened expression.
‘Syria Sullion.’
Syria Sullion’s body and helmet had disappeared, and traces of the Evil Goat, who wore a goat’s helmet, had been found in the Black Market and the Flying Swallow Guild.
Since the monster known as Baphomet possessed the trait of having two lives, Syria must be alive.
Runaan likely wanted to definitively kill the revived Syria Sullion and grant him peace.
“Vessel of Wrath….”
Sloth slowly turned his gaze to look at Raon.
“I acknowledge… this human… has the qualification….”
He nodded, stating that Runaan was a human capable of accepting the Authority of Sloth.
“I told you it would work.”
Raon smiled, gripping Runaan’s shoulder.
“Runaan Sullion…. I shall… pass my Authority… to you…. Will you… accept it…?”
Sloth nodded, leaving the decision to Runaan.
“I’ll take it….”
Runaan looked steadily at Raon and nodded calmly. Despite receiving the Authority of a Demon King, she showed no fear.
“[Sloth]… shall aid… your will… your desire….”
As Sloth flicked his finger, a black flower bracelet, identical to Raon’s, sprouted on Runaan’s wrist.
“It’s the same as Raon’s…?”
Runaan touched the black flower bracelet and let out a faint smile.
“Huh? Ack!”
Evelyn’s eyes widened at the sight.
“Hey! Demon King! Give me one too! Give me the same thing right now!”
She grabbed Sloth by the collar and shook him, demanding the same bracelet for herself.
“Aaaaagh! Stop it!”
Dorian grabbed Evelyn’s arm to stop her, shouting that the Demon King was going berserk.
“Yaaaawn…. You… lack the qualification….”
Even while being shaken by the collar, Sloth let out a long yawn as if he were falling asleep.
》”My, my head hurts.”
Wrath sighed, clutching his forehead.
》”There isn’t a single sane person here….”
‘True.’
Runaan was a monster who slept for five days, Evelyn was grabbing a Demon King by the collar demanding a bracelet, and Dorian was dragging Evelyn away. It was truly a dizzying sight.
“How do I use this…?”
Runaan asked Sloth how to use the bracelet.
“That bracelet… is connected… not only to me… but also to the Vessel of Wrath…. You… just live… as usual….”
Sloth nodded, explaining that Runaan would naturally grow stronger if she continued to sleep as she did now.
“Really…?”
Runaan’s mouth formed an ‘O’.
“Wow…!”
She hopped like a rabbit, looking happier than ever.
“So I really just have to sleep…?”
“Sleeping… is better… than training… alone… all day….”
Sloth nodded, telling her to just keep sleeping.
“Then I’ll sleep right now….”
Even though she had just woken up, Runaan curled herself back into the blanket, saying she would sleep.
“Sleep later! Not now!”
Just as Raon sighed and tried to stop Runaan.

The dimensions split, and blue messages began to float before his eyes. There were so many that they almost blocked his vision.
》”Krrrgh! There are… too many….”
Wrath seemed exhausted from reading the reward messages, foaming at the mouth like a crab on a mudflat.
‘Looking at this….’
Rather than the messages, Raon curled his lips into a smile as he watched Wrath collapse in shock.
‘I wonder what Grandfather’s expression will be.’
How many Gold Badges would he be able to receive?
