Chapter 1088
‘It’s over.’
Raon barely suppressed a laugh as he watched the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch bite their lips with desperate expressions.
‘I was so nervous, but this is way easier than I thought.’
The epithets of the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch still stood at the pinnacle of the continent. In fact, since the two had retired, those titles only shone more brilliantly.
Because they were such formidable martial artists, Raon had devised five different plans to persuade them without fighting. He hadn’t expected the first one to work so perfectly that he wouldn’t even need the other four.
‘It worked perfectly.’
Looking at the solemn gazes of the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch, it seemed they would grant any request he made.
“Speak.”
The Blade Monarch nodded, his blade lowered.
“What must we do for you?”
He clenched his fist, clearly wanting to compensate for the damages by any means necessary.
“You can really tell us everything!”
The Sword Monarch slammed her sword, its flames now extinguished, into the glacier.
“I swear I will do whatever it takes! On the name of the Sword Monarch!”
She stomped her foot violently, declaring she would stake her very epithet on the promise.
》”It’s over…”
Wrath let out a deep sigh, as if there was nothing left to see.
》”He didn’t even use bait. He just threw in a hook, and two carp were caught at once. How is this possible?”
Wrath gnashed his teeth, muttering that the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch’s “pushover index” was on par with the Demon Kings.
‘…True.’
Raon let out a thin smile as he looked at Wrath, who possessed the highest pushover index of them all.
[Do… do I have to do it too?]
The Gold Dragon’s golden eyes shifted slightly.
“Of course you do! You’re the one who set the coordinates here!”
The Sword Monarch pulled her sword from the ice and pointed it at the Gold Dragon.
“Indeed. You said there were no people here, so nothing would happen.”
The Blade Monarch also nodded heavily, glaring at the Gold Dragon as if remembering that detail.
[There really weren’t any people…]
The Gold Dragon scratched his forehead with a claw.
[A-Alright, so stop glaring at me!]
He let out a deep sigh and looked at Raon.
[I promise in the name of Parateus of the Gold clan. I will do my best to compensate for the damages caused to you and the other humans.]
Parateus made a Blood Pact to provide compensation using the Dragon Tongue.
》”E-even that lizard?”
Wrath’s jaw dropped, having never imagined the Gold Dragon would step forward as well.
‘This is beyond my expectations too…’
Raon had only intended to tie down the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch, but he hadn’t expected the Gold Dragon to bite the hook on his own. He was bewildered, yet pleased.
‘Parateus, was it?’
At the very least, he was an Ancient Dragon. The cake had literally rolled right into his mouth.
Judging by that massive body, the wings, and the scent of dense Mana, he was definitely an Ancient Dragon—and a high-ranking one at that.
‘The Sword Monarch, the Blade Monarch, and an Ancient Dragon.’
This was an incredible gain.
Raon forced the corners of his lips down and approached the three of them.
“Actually, we intended to grow our strength here for the war that will break out in the future. My friends were controlling the monsters, and individual training was taking place at Habun Fortress. But since the plan has been completely ruined, I do not know how to resolve this issue.”
He didn’t directly ask them to participate in the war. He simply murmured that a great problem had arisen and let out a sigh.
“War? What kind of war?”
The Sword Monarch tilted her chin up, demanding to know.
“You are aware that Derus Robert betrayed the Five Kings, right?”
Raon mentioned Derus’s name with a clouded gaze.
“I am aware.”
The Blade Monarch let out a short breath.
“I did not expect a swordsman with the epithet of the Sky Sword Saint to choose such a path.”
He tightened his grip, stating that if he hadn’t retired, he would have sought out Derus himself.
“I was going to go. If this man hadn’t stopped me, I would have met him already!”
The Sword Monarch snorted, looking at the Blade Monarch, who was radiating a chilling aura.
“But seeing as you brought up Derus’s name…”
“That’s correct.”
Raon paused for a moment before speaking.
“Derus Robert and Eden are planning to overthrow this continent. To achieve that, Derus is summoning Archangels, and Eden is attempting to resurrect the Demon Dragon that was subjugated a thousand years ago. We have been preparing for war in various ways to stop them.”
It wasn’t entirely true, but it wasn’t a complete lie either. He had indeed come here to get Sloth to participate in the war.
“Aha, then…”
The Sword Monarch licked her lips and rotated her wrist.
“We can just participate in the war instead of your friends and the knights of Habun Fortress, right?”
She followed the path he had carefully laid out and arrived at the exact answer.
“He’s a villain, and he wants to turn the continent into a sea of fire. Even if we’re retired, this is something we must return for! Right?”
The Sword Monarch shrugged toward the Blade Monarch.
“……”
The Blade Monarch said nothing and closed his eyes.
“Just once.”
After a long silence, he opened his eyes and held up a finger.
“Just once. I will participate in the war where everything is at stake.”
The Blade Monarch revealed a cold gaze, promising to fight with all his might in the final war.
“That’s more like it!”
The Sword Monarch slapped the Blade Monarch on the back, praising his decision.
“Hey. What are you doing? You should say it too!”
She flicked her chin toward the Gold Dragon.
[Uh…]
The Gold Dragon lowered his eyes uncomfortably.
[I feel like my race might side with the other party in that war…]
He rubbed his brow, feeling that he might be the only one on the humans’ side.
“So, you’re not going to do it?”
The Sword Monarch frowned deeply at the Gold Dragon.
[W-Why wouldn’t I! I just meant it might be awkward! I’ll do it. I’ll do it!]
The Gold Dragon nodded his long chin, agreeing to participate in the war on the side of the Five Kings.
》”Just what kind of weakness did that lizard have exploited?”
‘That’s what I’m most curious about.’
Raon was dying to know the stories behind the Sword Monarch, the Blade Monarch, and the Gold Dragon, but there was still more to extract.
“Thank you. However, there is one more problem.”
Raon let out another long sigh.
“What is the problem?”
The Blade Monarch tilted his chin, prompting him to speak.
“The high-ranking artifacts we created to control the monsters were destroyed, and the gates and walls of Habun Fortress were collapsed by the monsters. Fixing them will cost a lot of money, but we’ve already spent most of our funds…”
He fidgeted with his fingers, claiming they were broke due to war expenses.
“Hey! What are you doing! Get it out!”
The Sword Monarch poked the Gold Dragon in the stomach.
[Ah, seriously…]
As the Gold Dragon brought his hands together, massive gold bars began to pour down in front of Raon.
Rumble!
The gold bars formed a small hill, illuminating Raon’s face in a golden glow.
[This should be enough, right?]
“I-It is sufficient.”
Raon nodded with a dazed expression.
‘Sufficient? This is way too much.’
He had only intended to squeeze a little out of them, but he hadn’t expected such a massive amount of gold. Since they were likely crafted by dwarves, they would be incredibly expensive.
“Huuu…”
Raon looked at the gold bars and sighed again.
“Why this time? Not enough gold?”
The Sword Monarch grabbed his shoulder, telling him to speak up if he needed more.
“No. With this much gold, I can buy artifacts and rebuild the walls and gates. However…”
Raon furrowed his brow deeply.
“I am worried about how to replace the weapons and armor of master craftsmen that were lost—things that cannot be bought with money.”
“Hmm.”
“Mmm…”
The Blade Monarch and the Sword Monarch frowned, looking at Raon.
》”You idiot!”
Wrath clapped his hands, thinking the trap had failed.
》”You went too far! Those guys aren’t fools. Do you think they’d be fooled that far?! You were too greedy!”
Wrath chuckled, thinking Raon was about to lose everything by trying to get weapons too.
However, the opposite of Wrath’s expectation happened.
“Hey. Those weapons and armor we left in storage? Bring them all out.”
The Sword Monarch flicked her finger at the Gold Dragon.
“There should be a few artifacts as well. Release those too.”
Instead of stopping her, the Blade Monarch nodded, urging him to bring out even more.
》”W-What?! How is this happening?!”
Wrath’s eyes widened in disbelief.
‘I don’t just throw things out randomly.’
Raon shook his head with a smile.
‘I did this trusting the title I received from you.’
He possessed the title [Tongue That Toys with Dimensions].
Since it was an ability that caused mental confusion when speaking with the strong, the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch were likely in a hazy state, as if they were drunk.
》”Aaaagh!”
Wrath gasped, finally realizing what was happening.
[Understood.]
The Gold Dragon opened a dimension and brought out the equipment and artifacts the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch had mentioned.
“They are useless to us, so take them.”
The Sword Monarch smiled, feeling it was a good opportunity to clear out the clutter.
“They are spoils of war obtained while dealing with villains, so it will be more helpful if they are used for a good cause.”
The Blade Monarch closed and opened his eyes in agreement.
“Thank you. Truly…”
Raon bowed deeply to the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch, licking his lips.
‘Maybe I can squeeze out more…?’
》”Stop it! You crazy bastard!”
===
“Now that the matter is resolved…”
The Sword Monarch licked her lips and looked at the Blade Monarch.
“Let’s have a proper fight before we leave.”
She raised her red sword, suggesting they fight right here to end the long-standing ill will between their sects without needing to transfer Aura.
“Not bad.”
The Blade Monarch nodded in agreement.
“It was time to move anyway.”
He pointed the Blade of Frost Severity at the Sword Monarch’s neck.
[I give up…]
The Gold Dragon shook his head and hopped off the glacier.
[Raon Zieghart. You should move away too. Not only this glacier, but the surrounding sea will be turned upside down.]
He flicked his chin, warning Raon to keep his distance for safety.
“I am fine.”
Raon smiled faintly and took only five steps back.
“I will protect the glacier so that you two can fight in this place.”
In truth, he wanted to observe the martial studies of the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch up close, and there was something he needed to verify, so he didn’t want to leave.
“Are you really okay?”
The Sword Monarch lowered her eyebrows in concern.
“He is a boy who received the epithet of Sword Emperor. He doesn’t need our concern.”
The Blade Monarch didn’t even turn his gaze, showing his trust in Raon.
“Then watch closely. See how I bring this cold-blooded man to his knees.”
The Sword Monarch declared she would defeat the Blade Monarch today, extending her left hand forward and pulling the sword in her right hand back behind her shoulder.
“Your sword will break before I am brought to my knees.”
The Blade Monarch raised the blade held in both hands above his head, emitting a terrifyingly cold Energy Wave.
Goooo!
The moment the towering waves, raised by the powerful energy emanating from the sword and blade, shook the glacier, the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch leaped simultaneously.
Boom!
The flaming sword and the blue blade collided head-on, splitting the dark northern sky and sea in half.
Rumble!
However, the glacier at the center did not shake in the slightest. This was because Raon was using the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier to protect the glacier itself.
“This is perfect!”
“I can fight with my full strength.”
The Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch nodded, deploying even more intense and profound martial arts. The North Sea itself twisted blackly, and countless cracks erupted.
‘Insane…’
Raon swallowed hard as he observed their martial arts.
‘Both the swordsmanship and blade art are complete. They are the pinnacle of martial artists who have walked a single path.’
A thrill surged through his entire body as he watched the duel, which was high in completion and filled with desperation. He felt as if the Achievement of Ten Thousand Swords was increasing just by watching.
‘This is a goldmine.’
Without blinking, Raon meticulously engraved the martial arts of the Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch into his mind.
‘But…’
No matter how he looked at it, they were similar.
Beneath the Sword Monarch’s flames and the Blade Monarch’s frost, the Earth Aura was being operated to support the Aura and protect the physical body.
Although the Earth Aura used by the two differed, it was strangely similar to the Earth Aura he had received from the Sword-Blade Master.
‘Should I call it a slightly degraded version of the Sword-Blade Master’s Aura?’
The Earth Aura used by the Sword Monarch lacked steadfastness, and the Earth Aura deployed by the Blade Monarch was light rather than heavy.
They were clearly different martial arts, yet they shared a similar scent to the Sword-Blade Master’s Earth Aura.
‘Let’s see…’
Raon slightly withdrew the Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation and Glacier, bringing the Earth Aura he obtained from the Sword-Blade Master to the forefront.
Wooooong!
A yellow Aura flared up from beneath his feet, protecting the shaking glacier with even greater firmness and weight.
‘So the Earth Aura can be used this way too.’
I learned something new.
Just as Raon smiled and nodded.
“Eh…?”
“Huh!”
The Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch lowered their weapons simultaneously and looked back at Raon.
Intense emotions, the likes of which they had never seen before, were swirling in their eyes.
“T-That’s it, right? I’m not imagining it?”
“…It is certain. Our Aura is bowing to him of its own accord.”
The Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch approached Raon, their chins trembling.
“I wondered why I felt such a connection…”
“To think we would meet in this manner.”
The two stood before Raon, pressing their lips tight.
“W-Why are you acting like this?”
Raon swallowed hard, looking at the tearful Sword Monarch and the trembling Blade Monarch.
“Sieran, descendant of the Sword Sect…”
“Yubert, descendant of the Blade Sect…”
The Sword Monarch and Blade Monarch knelt simultaneously.
“We greet the descendant of the Sword-Blade Master!”
