Chapter 581: Chapter 356: The Soul Ascenders Hail Zog as Invincible

This whole situation was starting to make Zog nervous about looking at his own memories.

While waiting in line, Zog had checked the information of nearly everyone around him, and no one had noticed.

He also made a surprising discovery: the Inscriptions that constructed this entire Consciousness Space were public and viewable by all.

It was like being able to see the source code right on the client side.

Zog gave it a quick look. While he didn’t know how to use the Soul Ascenders’ Inscriptions, his long career in the tech industry meant he could still grasp the general functions.

The entire space wasn’t complex—certainly far less so than the Divine Remains Network. Zog already struggled to understand many of the functional Magic spells on that network.

This Holy Sanctuary, in contrast, seemed rather crude. It simply had a long history, which had led to the accumulation of a massive amount of content.

While examining the "source code," Zog discovered that there didn’t seem to be any monitoring functions. The actions of anyone connected to the Holy Sanctuary were not recorded.

’Is this some kind of "Night Without Closing Doors" cult?’

’But on second thought, it’s understandable. They have no need to monitor everyone’s every move. To enter this Holy Sanctuary, you first have to become a Soul Ascender, be guided by a mentor, and obtain that rare piece of equipment.’

’The entire verification and screening process is handled offline, so to speak. As long as the offline inspections are strict enough, online surveillance isn’t really necessary.’

Unfortunately for them, they had run into Zog, a Dragon who didn’t play by the rules.

Since his actions wouldn’t be recorded, Zog now had a wonderful idea.

’Since they love studying my memories so much, I’ll pull out some of my "special treasures" for them to look at.’

Some time passed. Finally, it was Zog’s turn.

After connecting, he didn’t see all the memories at once. Instead, there was a directory where one could choose which segment to view.

Each segment was covered in annotations describing its contents.

Zog casually selected a segment. ’They’re all mine, anyway.’

A few minutes later...

Zog pulled himself out of the memory. Now he understood why the Soul Ascenders were so confused.

He couldn’t even understand it himself.

These fragments weren’t just fragmented; they were utterly chaotic and disjointed.

Not only were his memories from his time as a human and his time as a Dragon all jumbled together, but there was also no distinction between the virtual and the real.

Every work of fiction he had ever experienced—be it books, movies, anime, or games—was treated as part of "Zog’s" personal history.

And so, Zog had just witnessed "Zog," in first-person, fighting the Hulk in Tokyo-3. The fight wasn’t even coherent; the memory was choppy, and the perspective spun around wildly, making him want to puke.

At the height of the battle, a cry of "Gaia!" rang out as the red giant, the Light of the Earth, made a dazzling entrance and joined the fray...

The weirdest part was that the first-person perspective wasn’t even fixed on one character. It was like a composite memory pieced together from various childhood fantasies.

’It’d be a miracle if anyone could understand this!’

He suddenly felt a little sorry for the Sage whose mind had been broken by these memories. To think that this was the data he had died to send back.

He watched a few more segments and realized the last one was actually relatively complete. At least you could tell what kinds of creatures were in the heat of battle.

The rest were an even bigger mess.

Zog decided not to watch any more. There were far too many fragments in the directory, and he figured these were just the tip of the iceberg of his massive memory reserves.

These were the fragments the Soul Ascenders had already manually isolated as being the most "comprehensible."

Beyond these were millennia worth of memories that looked like corrupted data, all awaiting manual deciphering.

This section was also public, and all Soul Ascenders were welcome to join the deciphering effort.

Zog opened this section. He wanted to see if, as someone with what amounted to admin privileges in this Holy Sanctuary, he could modify these memories.

After a quick test, the answer was yes.

He could modify them. The process felt a bit like video editing; he could cut and rearrange elements from the corrupted data and even import his own current memories as new material.

’In that case...’

Amidst the vast chaos, Zog saw something very familiar. He decided to make it the theme for his new creative edit...

—————————

At the center of the Soul Ascender’s Sanctuary, on the top floor of the tallest spire, the monthly Sage Council meeting began.

This was a regular meeting for the Soul Ascenders. Though they belonged to the same organization, they were often vast distances apart in the real world and could not meet easily.

Thus, the Holy Sanctuary had become the primary venue for them to share intelligence and discuss affairs.

Today’s meeting started early. The Great Sage had urgently summoned all members of the Sage Council because of a major discovery.

"Yesterday, our people isolated a segment from Zog’s memories. It is, to date, the clearest, most complete, and most fully comprehensible memory we have ever found."

The Great Sage, seated in the very center, spoke in a grave tone.

"Isn’t that a good thing? Our research into Zog has finally taken a great leap forward. Were there any significant discoveries?" a Sage seated near the Great Sage, clearly of high rank, inquired.

"Alas," the Great Sage sighed resignedly. "See for yourselves. I’ve brought the memory with me. Are you sure you want to view it now?"

Judging by his tone, the memory contained something truly terrifying. His voice even trembled slightly, and the others had never seen the Great Sage so unsettled.

"Of course! Of course, we must see it. Now that it’s been deciphered, why wouldn’t we? Surely it contains information that will be of great help to our cause?"

"Hmph..." The Great Sage didn’t answer directly. "Since you insist on seeing it, then go ahead."

With that, he transmitted the memory to everyone present.

The assembled Sages began their group viewing.

It began with a vast, starry sky. In the boundless black, only pinpricks of starlight twinkled.

On Feilin, the study of the cosmos was still in its infancy, so such a scene was utterly alien to them.

However, they had a basic understanding that their world was a planet floating in an infinite void.

Then, the scene changed. A colossal object appeared amidst the stars.

Its gray-white surface resembled a planet, but it had a massive concave dish on one side. They didn’t know what it was, but the metallic sheen and mechanical patterns covering its surface proved it was some kind of artificial construct.

’What kind of immense power would it take to create something like this?’

Before the Sages could recover from their shock, they saw an eerie green light gather in the dish. It converged into a torrent that blasted toward a distant planet.

In a single moment, the planet was pierced through. Its continental plates shattered like glass, and crimson magma spewed from its core like a fountain.

A whole planet, crushed and pulverized as easily as a molten lava cake, ultimately disintegrated into cosmic dust.

’What is this?’

All the Sages present were utterly dumbfounded.

However, the memory fragment wasn’t over. What it showed next was even more incomprehensible.

Mathematical Law Weapon

If the preceding Death Star could at least be understood as a powerful form of attack, this was something else entirely—completely beyond their comprehension.

According to the memory, this weapon could alter fundamental mathematical constants, causing the laws of physics themselves to collapse. Any civilization that had developed under the original laws would be effortlessly annihilated.

’Why?’

They couldn’t comprehend it, but they vaguely understood that this was something that could render truth itself untrue.

Everything they had ever mastered would instantly become useless.

’What kind of being could possibly possess such power?’

’Deities. It could only be one of the Deities. But we’ve never heard of such a Deity ever existing on Feilin.’

’Who is Zog?’

’Who is *He*?’

’An ancient god from the mists of history?’

And the final memory segment convinced them that their speculation was absolutely correct.

A craft resembling a transparent jellyfish floated amidst the stars.

’Is that Zog’s true form?’

The "jellyfish" tossed out a thin card that drifted toward a distant galaxy. Then, the card suddenly began to unfold, expanding to cover several planets.

The entire galaxy seemed to dissolve, melting into the unfolded card. The galaxy had become a two-dimensional painting.

After the final segment concluded, all the Sages fell silent. The quiet lasted for a long while before someone finally spoke.

"An Ancient God! Zog is definitely an Ancient God!"
