Chapter 564: Chapter 348: Zhuo · Passively Becomes Dragon King · Ge

Nights in Deepwater City are much more interesting than in the Northern Domain.

Taverns open late into the night, food stalls that only appeared after dark, entertainment halls providing musical accompaniment and lyrics, and late-night Magic Cinemas packed with young couples.

However, these things usually had little to do with the researchers at the Deep Research Institute.

They were the ones with the heaviest workload in the city, and they were the type to constantly push themselves harder.

After all, an achievement that could make history would satisfy their needs for self-actualization and respect in one fell swoop.

But the Brass Dragon who had recently infiltrated the research institute, Barossalis, couldn’t quite understand this mentality.

He had all the time in the world, so he believed in enjoying himself when the opportunity arose.

As a Brass Dragon, his hobbies were rather rare among the Dragon Race. He was very fond of all kinds of Magical Instruments, especially destructive ones.

His ultimate dream was to create a weapon that could harm Deities.

That was why he had come to Zog’s territory.

This place seemed to be at the forefront of weapons research.

Firearms were a completely new concept to him. He had always focused on how to inflict greater damage in a single blow and had never considered that it could also be achieved through high frequency.

’What was it called again? A saturation attack.’

’To think that Red Dragon, who used to only know how to fight and kill, was now involved in things like this.’

Zog, Furin, and Doudou were, in fact, considered misfits even among the generally solitary Dragon Race.

Only Furin had some contact with other dragons, and not much at that.

He, on the other hand, was different. He was the Dragon Race’s famous chatterbox, a "social terrorist" rumored to have talked with every single adult Dragon.

After actually joining the Deep Research Institute, Barossalis found the situation to be even better than he had imagined. He met the Elf Mage, El, a Legendary Mage who had remarkably unique insights on how to create greater destruction.

Their research was already showing initial results. If things continued to go smoothly, they should be able to test its power within a few years.

For a Dragon and an Elf duo, a few years was hardly a long time.

So, there was no rush tonight. He decided to go see a very novel Shadow of Evil.

A Shadow of Evil that Dragons watched alongside other races.

To accommodate the Dragon Race audience, the screening wasn’t held in a Magic Cinema, but in a square on the west side of the city.

Workers’ Square, built to commemorate all the workers who had contributed to the construction of Deepwater City.

When Barossalis first arrived in the city, he had taken a tour. Workers’ Square hadn’t existed back then.

Only a few months had passed, and now there was another square, along with a whole host of surrounding buildings.

The construction speed of Deepwater City was something he had never seen in his long life. It was hard to imagine that this place was built by Humans, Beastmen, Devils, and even a good number of Zor working together.

’Now, with the addition of some dragons, it doesn’t even feel that out of place.’

’Perhaps this really is a good place for the Dragon Race.’

Thinking back, the last time so many Dragons had stayed in a single city was when he was young, back when the Dragon Realm still existed.

And the cities of the Dragon Race had never been particularly grand in scale.

On the continent of Feilin, there was no such thing as "the older, the more advanced," or the notion that scientific research depended on archaeology.

There may have been some periods where civilization regressed slightly due to war, but on the whole, it was always on a gradual rise.

Except for the Dragon Race.

The Dragon Race had been in decline for a thousand years.

Their culture was severely fractured. The few Ancient Dragons who had witnessed the old realm had no interest in reviving their race.

Furthermore, Humans had long been hostile because individual Dragons were too powerful and their body parts were too useful.

Now, neither of those two problems were problems anymore.

’Maybe Zog could truly lead the Dragon Race back to its former glory.’

Arriving at Workers’ Square, he saw the open-air screening area had already been set up.

A massive screen, a large sound system, rows of seats, and citizens filing in one by one.

This was just one of the premiere locations for *Dancing with Dragons*; the Magic Cinemas in the city were showing it simultaneously.

The audio-visual quality of the open-air venue certainly couldn’t compare to an enclosed one, but it still attracted a large crowd.

Because the experience of watching a Shadow of Evil surrounded by a host of Giant Dragons was a rare one indeed.

On the outer edge of the seating area were numerous dragons from the Dragon Race who had switched careers to become couriers. They didn’t need seats.

Even lying down, they had an unobstructed view of the screen.

Many people in the city had seen these dragons working as couriers, but only from a distance; they’d never been up close. Some of the less fearful children, mustering up their courage, tried to reach out and touch a Green Dragon’s scales.

The Green Dragon lowered its head to show it meant no harm, but this sudden movement startled the children.

’It seems Humans still have a lot to learn about the Dragon Race.’

Barossalis had reserved a spot in the last row, the one closest to his fellow dragons.

The lights in the square went out, leaving only the moon and stars in the sky as a source of light. The atmosphere for watching a Shadow of Evil was better than he had imagined.

After the classic opening for Zog Film Studio, the movie officially began.

Over the male protagonist Little Hiccup’s gloomy narration, the scene opened on a village shrouded in night.

"We’ve lived here for many generations, but our buildings are still new. We fish, we go Hunting, we enjoy the sunsets. The only problem is the pests. In most places, pests might be mice or mosquitoes. But ours are..."

"Dragons!"

A swarm of "Evil Dragons" descended from the sky, spitting fire, igniting houses, and snatching up cattle and sheep.

Yet the villagers showed no fear. They seemed to have grown accustomed to it all. Instead of fleeing, they took up their weapons to fight back against the horde of dragons.
