Chapter 479: Chapter 306: Zog Is an Expert at Giving Gifts
To Zog’s surprise, the Villain Kingdom was surprisingly easy to provoke.
They issued a public statement condemning Zog for slandering the Villain Kingdom’s military.
The game, *This War of Mine*, depicted the Army of Justice as thugs committing atrocities against civilians, which they claimed severely damaged their reputation.
They sternly demanded that Zog issue a public apology to the Villain Kingdom and compensate them for their losses.
But the funny part was, Zog had never actually mentioned the Villain Kingdom in the game.
No matter how obvious the hints were, there was no explicit mention of them.
The Villain Kingdom had essentially outed themselves.
It was a classic case of a hit dog will holler.
This caused them to lose face online, with netizens everywhere mocking them, "So you *do* realize what you’ve done is dishonorable, huh?"
Zog, for his part, played along and issued a response.
Anyone who could prove their Villain Kingdom citizenship and had posted public statements opposing the war could use a screenshot of their post to claim a free copy of the full version of *This War of Mine*.
Zog didn’t expect many people to actually take him up on the offer. He was just doing it to mess with them.
After all, how could a mere game possibly sway the "noble" convictions of the Villain people?
But to his great surprise, quite a few people actually came forward to claim their copies.
So Zog posted the real-time redemption numbers on his social media account, thoroughly aggravating the Villain Kingdom once again.
For the past few days, Zog had been binge-watching videos on YouTube of livid Villain people cursing him out.
When it posed absolutely no threat, their impotent rage was actually quite "cute."
He even liked the videos while he watched, savoring every moment.
Just as he was happily scrolling through videos, the door to his room was slowly pushed open.
Furin peeked in, a mysterious and suggestive smile on her face.
"Ahem!"
It was a very put-on cough, clearly forced from a throat that wasn’t the least bit scratchy.
’Trying to act all young and cute, are we?’
’Something’s definitely up.’
Zog looked at Furin warily and said in a serious tone, "To what do I owe this display of girlish pretense, old dragon?"
"Old dragon, my ass!"
"Now *that* sounds more familiar."
"Um..." Furin twirled a lock of her hair. As everyone knows, when a woman fiddles with her hair, it means her mind is racing. "I got you a present."
"A present? I love presents!" Zog exclaimed, rubbing his claws together in excitement.
"Look!"
Furin suddenly produced a small Red Dragon that looked just like a miniature version of Zog.
Its gaze was surprisingly profound. If it hadn’t been moving, Zog would have mistaken it for a collectible figurine.
"What... is this?"
Speaking as an expert, Zog figured the thing had to be a Golem, but he couldn’t determine its function.
"This is Little Zog!"
Furin announced proudly.
"I designed this new-generation Golem using brand-new Golem Magic. It’s meant to help silly old Big Zog get his work done more easily."
As she spoke, Little Zog spat out a puff of sparks and then shook its head.
’Have to admit, it’s kind of ugly-cute.’
Zog got the picture. She must have iterated on the technology she used to make the *Digital Monster* Golems last time to create this.
"By ’help with work,’ do you mean I should use it as a lighter?"
"Of course not." Furin placed her hand on the Little Zog Golem’s head, and a moment later, it spat a Scroll out of its mouth.
It read: "Little Zog can read the user’s thoughts and output them onto a Scroll, saving you the trouble of writing things out yourself. Now a certain Dragon won’t have to spend ages huffing and puffing his way through project proposals."
"Whoa."
’So it’s a printer Dragon.’
’A super magical printer Dragon that can print thoughts directly, no less.’
Zog took the little Golem and gave it a try.
Soon enough, Little Zog spat out a complete project proposal.
It was incredibly convenient. The layout, formatting, and everything else came out exactly as he pictured it in his mind.
The only issue was that the little Golem couldn’t store much scroll paper. For longer proposals, it had to be fed paper as it printed.
How interesting.
Still, using a "printer" that looked exactly like him—and had been deliberately sculpted by Furin to look a bit dopey—felt slightly weird.
"Thanks so much!"
Zog spread his claws, asking for a hug.
"Wait," Furin said, uncharacteristically refusing the embrace. "Do you know why I gave you Little Zog?"
Zog was suddenly struck by a very bad feeling.
It was the kind of premonition one gets right before their partner asks a deadly question.
"Do you know what today is?" Furin asked, her tone full of playful menace.
"Uhh..."
He started sweating bullets.
Time for a useless piece of Dragon trivia: Dragons do not have sweat glands, so they naturally do not possess the "sweating" Skill.
The term here referred strictly to Zog’s mental state.
He was unbelievably nervous right now.
The last time he had been this nervous was... the last time.
The last time Furin had asked him what day it was, to be precise.
That time, it had been Furin’s birthday. Zog didn’t quite understand why she wanted to celebrate it.
The Dragon Race didn’t have such a custom; to be precise, long-lived species generally don’t care much for birthdays.
They come around far too often.
However, after integrating into Human society, Furin had begun to appreciate the "sense of ceremony," and so she wanted to celebrate her birthday, too.
Zog was certain today wasn’t Furin’s birthday. He had learned his lesson from last time and committed the date to memory.
It also wasn’t the anniversary of when he confessed his feelings to her; that was a separate lesson learned the hard way.
’So what in the world is today?’
’Damn it, Zog, use that astonishing intellect of yours!’
He was currently performing a memory scan at maximum speed, indexing everything and anything related to anniversaries.
And he couldn’t let it show.
A heart of raging thunder, a face like a placid lake—that was Zog.
"Of course I know what today is! Hahahaha..."
