Chapter 426: Chapter 281: Zog’s Armory Was Robbed?

Lavin had a good impression of the police, so he chose to trust them and immediately dropped to the ground.

Then, he witnessed a sight unlike any he had ever seen before.

The officer raised the strange-looking object in his hands—what he assumed was a weapon. There was a deafening BANG, and the Snake Chicken Beast was engulfed by countless Magic Arrays, instantly reduced to a charred pile of remains.

The other officer next to him chided disapprovingly, "Did you forget again? Low-yield rounds are enough for a Snake Chicken Beast. Why waste a medium-yield one?"

Medium-yield?

Lavin glanced at the miserable state of the Snake Chicken Beast. ’That was just a medium-yield round?’

’What would a high-yield round do?’

"Are you okay?" The officer who had fired walked over, concerned. Lavin looked dazed, and the officer assumed the gunshot had startled him.

But Lavin’s attention wasn’t on himself at all. The first words out of his mouth were, "Are you a Mage?"

"Me? Of course not. I wish I were, though."

"Then how did you do that?" Lavin asked, pointing at the blackened remains of the Snake Chicken Beast.

"With this, of course. The Type 56, my favorite super-sized baby." The officer patted the gun in his hands.

"Could I get that kind of result too?"

"Of course. Anyone can. But, uh, look but don’t touch. If you want to touch it, feel free to apply to the Deepwater City Police Department. See ya."

After that incident, the Type 56 was seared into Lavin’s mind.

He had discovered a possibility more hopeful than filming a Shadow of Evil to expose Villain City.

If everyone could use a Type 56, then if his compatriots were equipped with them, they might just have the power to fight back against their enemies.

So, Lavin began to inquire about the Type 56.

He even went to the police department’s public open house, where he got to fire one at a target. It was true—anyone could use it.

He learned that the gun was designed and manufactured by the firearms division of the Shenke Affiliated Institute, and that they had even more powerful, unreleased weapons there.

Upon hearing this, the idea of stealing the weapon blueprints began to form in Lavin’s mind.

This was perhaps the last hope for saving his people.

And so, today, after finishing filming for a late-night scene, he came to the firearms division of the Shenke Affiliated Institute, determined to carry out his plan to save his compatriots.

He had cased the firearms division many times before today. He knew that although the lights were on, almost everyone had gone home for the day, leaving only a small skeleton crew on duty.

The lights were left on because the labs were still running simulations and the like, though Lavin didn’t understand the specifics.

Lavin hid in the bushes outside the firearms division until the early hours of the morning.

The time reached 3:00 AM.

He figured it was about time.

He ran quickly to the perimeter wall, hoisted himself up, and struggled over...

「Zog’s Office.」

Zog had a strange habit. Whenever he pulled an all-nighter at work, he would be wide awake afterward, unable to sleep.

So, here he was, holed up and playing video games.

For a Dragon like him, skipping a few days of sleep was no big deal.

Just then, War Axe knocked on the door.

"Reporting, Boss. My squad captured a spy at the firearms division."

"Captured a what now?"

"A spy, Boss. A... spyyyyy."

War Axe repeated, dragging out the word.

"You don’t have to emphasize it so much. I was just asking again to express my surprise."

"Understood, Boss."

"Alive or dead?"

"Alive. A Human."

"Drunk and acting crazy?" Zog couldn’t imagine any Human being insane enough to try and break into the firearms division.

Even he would have to put in some effort to get past their security.

"He seemed to be sober. My men caught him while he was climbing the wall."

"You only caught him *after* he started climbing the wall?"

’Wait a second. If he had to climb the wall to get in, that means he’s no master operative.’

"You taught us, Boss. We can only engage a target when they are in the act of or have already broken the law. We noticed him loitering outside the firearms division, but we waited until he started climbing the wall to apprehend him."

Zog was speechless. ’What a straight-laced Beastman,’ he thought.

"Fine, bring him in. Let’s have a look at which unlucky bastard you guys watched climb a wall."
