Chapter 393: Chapter 273: Zog’s Special Cloud Internet Cafe, Part 3

"Godfather!" War King used a less direct term—a pity the common tongue had no word for "adoptive father." "If my videos get any views, I’ll definitely give you half the profits."

Saying this, War King let go of Leon’s leg and went to find his camera.

War King may have had many flaws, but laziness wasn’t one of them. When it came to a potential payday, his drive was unparalleled.

Leon hadn’t even bought a camera for himself yet, but War King had already purchased one, along with video uploading equipment and a dedicated recording microphone.

That last item, the microphone, was genuinely useful. After Leon tried it, he found the recording quality was much better than his computer’s built-in mic.

Without a second thought, War King gave one to Leon, refusing to take no for an answer.

Now, he hoisted the camera onto his shoulder and began filming everything in sight, from the training room to the rest of the base.

He kept filming all the way until evening.

You had to admit, his stamina was impressive. Even though he’d bought the smallest model of camera, it still weighed nearly three kilograms. That might not sound heavy, but carrying it for an entire day was exhausting.

He planned to film all the way up to the knighting ceremony.

The decision to knight them had only been made recently.

Grace hadn’t originally planned on knighting these kids for playing video games. After all, even if Knights were at the bottom of the aristocratic pecking order, they were still nobles.

The idea of becoming a noble just by playing games was still a bit much for her to accept.

This, despite the fact that she herself had been a noble since birth without having to do anything at all. At least playing games counted as a personal skill.

But that was just the mentality of this era: the great divider in life was the amniotic fluid you were born in.

Her last-minute decision to bestow the knighthoods came from pressure from her peers.

After seeing the many benefits Twin Tower City had reaped from the gaming tournament, the City Lords of other city-states began to follow suit and form their own local teams.

One City Lord, struggling to assemble a team due to a lack of local talent, came up with a cutthroat tactic.

He offered knighthood to anyone who could pass the tryouts and join his team, aggressively poaching players from other regions.

A noble title held immense appeal for the people of this world.

To prevent her own players—especially Leon—from being poached by other City Lords, Grace had no choice but to knight the Sons of the Twin Towers as well.

An arms race over player benefits had begun.

The knighting ceremony was held at the City Lord’s Mansion. The players’ families, the team’s sponsors, and many reporters were invited to attend.

The reporters were the most important guests. After spending so much on the ceremony, they had to get some good publicity out of it.

This was the first time the members of the Sons of the Twin Towers had attended such a formal event, and they were visibly nervous.

The City Lord’s Mansion was filled with furnishings the likes of which they’d never seen. They didn’t dare touch anything, terrified they might break something they couldn’t possibly afford to replace.

But surprisingly, the most nervous person there wasn’t one of the players, but Toto.

She had already signed a long-term, multi-year contract with Grace and would continue to serve as the coach for the Sons of the Twin Towers.

According to the Zog Group’s tournament rules, coaches were only barred from playing in team matches; it didn’t prevent Toto from competing in the solo league.

As the coach on a long-term contract, she was considered far more important than most players, so she was being knighted alongside them.

Toto wrung her hands anxiously, muttering, "I’m going to be a noble. I’m going to be a noble. Mom, I’m about to become a noble..."

Leon watched his coach with some concern. He’d seen someone in her state before.

A year ago, a senior at his school had been accepted into the Twin Towers City Research Institute.

When that senior was opening his acceptance letter from the Institute, he had been the same way, constantly muttering, "I’m gonna get in..."

After seeing the confirmation of his acceptance, he was so excited he fainted on the spot.

Leon was afraid Toto was about to faint during the knighting ceremony, too.

"Coach, Coach!"

"Ah, what is it?"

"Are you okay?" Leon asked.

"Okay? Of course I’m okay! I’m definitely okay! Oh, this is amazing, just amazing! Who would’ve thought that a delinquent who used to work as a fake tour guide and a pickpocket would become a Knight..."

"You used to what?" Leon felt as if he’d just heard something outrageous.

Toto realized her slip of the tongue. "Used to what? You misheard. I didn’t used to do anything, haha."

Her denial was painfully obvious.

She was about to become a noble; she had to be mindful of her image.

The knighting ceremony began shortly thereafter.

The five players and Toto knelt on one knee before the main hall of the City Lord’s Mansion.

Miss Grace, dressed in a magnificent gown and holding a ceremonial longsword, tapped it on each of their shoulders in turn.

Next came the knight’s oath.

"I swear to treat the weak with kindness. I swear to bravely stand against oppression..."

It was hard to keep a straight face during this part. Of the humans and the Half-Elf taking the oath, only Toto was actually capable of "standing against oppression." The rest of them couldn’t fight at all. And Toto’s methods were anything but knightly—they were all dirty tricks like backstabbing, sucker punching, and kicking people in the groin.

Nevertheless, the guests in attendance maintained their high level of decorum and managed not to laugh out loud.

Leon’s parents, however, watched their son be knighted and wept uncontrollably.

’And who said playing video games would get you nowhere?’

’Playing video games was the most promising thing ever!’

The ceremony was followed by a banquet. This was Grace’s stage; she needed to socialize with the various sponsors.

As for the newly knighted guests of honor, they were now little more than mascots.

Before she went off to mingle, Grace made a point of warning the players, "Now that you are no longer commoners, you must remain mindful of the knightly virtues at all times, understand?"

As she spoke, she patted a player on the shoulder, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

This particular player had made a "small mistake" during the break.

He had gotten involved with a female fan. The relationship went well beyond friendship, and he had gotten her pregnant.
