Chapter 302: Chapter 236: Zog Is Never Short of Little Tricks (Part 2)

They would take a people who were originally one and forcibly divide them into different ethnic groups. The basis for this division was often careless—sometimes, it was as simple as where they lived, a decision that would seal the fate of hundreds of thousands for generations to come.

Then, they would manufacture conflict between these newly divided peoples, allowing that conflict to gradually evolve into hatred.

People who had once shared the same roots became "hereditary enemies" in just a few short decades.

The Loman Empire was happy to provide weapons to these enemies of its own making, carefully controlling the supply so that neither side could ever completely defeat the other. The Empire Council called this "balance."

The pitiful people caught in this "balance" were unable to unite and resist the Empire.

At the same time, because they wanted to eliminate their "enemies," they had to get more support from the Empire, and so they obeyed its every command.

The Villain Kingdom was created in just this way.

To prevent the powers in this region from uniting and threatening the Loman Empire, the Council helped the Villain Kingdom develop rapidly, turning it into the region’s spoiler.

However, this spoiler seemed a little too aggressive, keen on annexing surrounding territories.

Augustine City became its new target.

Morris worried that because of the Loman Empire’s declaration, the war would gradually expand until the Empire itself joined the fray. If that happened, Imperial citizens like him who were living abroad would be recalled.

’If it really comes to that, what will I do?’

Like all citizens of the Loman Empire, Morris had been educated from a young age to sacrifice everything for the glory of the Empire.

His childhood dream had been to become a Mage and win glory for the Empire on the battlefield.

Now he was a Mage, but he had no desire to step onto a battlefield. If this was the so-called way to restore the Empire’s glory, Morris couldn’t accept it.

He still loved his country, but he loathed the Emperor and the Council who currently controlled the Empire.

"Morris!" Sir Gordo’s voice called from the study.

Morris shook his head. ’Why worry so much? I’m just an ordinary Mage with a little money, and on top of that, I’ve been turned into a Tiefling.’

’If a large-scale war really breaks out, my opinion won’t change the outcome.’

’I should just focus on the life I have right now.’

’I’ll take care of Sir Gordo before I resume my studies and finish filming *Beyond Reach* while I’m at it.’

’As for the future, whatever happens, happens.’

"Coming," Morris called back.

He returned to the study to find Sir Gordo’s face alight with excitement.

Before he could even ask, Gordo blurted out, "She’s a woman, and she has a lovely voice."

"You talked with her?"

Sir Gordo nodded eagerly.

"And you didn’t let me listen in!" Morris feigned an exaggerated look of shock.

’So that’s why he sent me away—to make the call in secret and deny me a front-row seat to the drama.’

"It’s called privacy."

Sir Gordo said, sounding a bit sheepish.

He felt that with Morris listening in, he would be too embarrassed to say certain things.

"Alright, privacy, I get it. So, did you ask for a picture?"

Morris was still fixated on the picture.

"No, but I did ask for her height and weight."

"Whoa, impressive. You asked her during the call?"

"Not exactly. I just asked her in a text, using the excuse that I wanted to buy her a formal dress."

An awkward question like that is a lot easier to type than to say aloud.

"Did she reply?"

"Not yet..."

「Meanwhile, at the Zog Group’s recording studio.」

The recording session for the rest of *Beyond Reach*’s soundtrack was underway.

It was going much more smoothly than the recording for *One Morning*, and Zog suspected it was because Roline had practiced extensively beforehand.

However, just a moment ago, the recording session had paused briefly.

Roline had picked up her phone with a nervous expression; it seemed someone important was contacting her.

’No doubt about it, it had to be Sir Gordo.’

Roline didn’t try to hide the call from the others.

And then Zog witnessed a special female technique: voice modulation.

Without using any Magic, relying on pure skill, Roline’s voice on the call was gentle and sweet—nothing like her usual ice-cold tone that sounded like everyone owed her Eighty Thousand Gold Coins.

After the brief, polite call ended, Roline looked content, an unconscious smile on her face.

Then she saw a new message in the chat window and froze.

She remained frozen for about half a minute before suddenly turning to Zog with a pleading look in her eyes.

She asked, "What’s considered a good height and weight for a Human female?"

Dragon Head Military Advisor Zog immediately understood. Gordo was trying to confirm Roline’s approximate race and appearance, and Roline didn’t want to reveal her identity as a Spider Elf.

Because of her massive spider-like lower body, Zog estimated Roline was at least three meters tall and weighed two hundred kilograms.

If she gave him those numbers, any fool would realize she wasn’t an ordinary creature.

She was even a size bigger than Lady Eight Feet.

He might even picture her as a Female Giant.

Of course, the reputation of a Spider Elf wasn’t much better than that of a Female Giant.

"Divide your weight by the square of your height. If the result is between 18 and 24, that’s considered an excellent range."

Zog was explaining the calculation for BMI, or Body Mass Index.

It was a standard used to roughly determine if a person’s weight was within a healthy range.

According to this standard, being too thin wasn’t good either.

Roline thought for a moment and came up with a set of numbers.

Height: 1.7 meters. Weight: 55 kilograms.

Just as she was about to send this to Sir Gordo, Zog suddenly suggested, "I have a great idea. How about you just send him a picture of yourself?"
