Chapter 72: Chapter 72: Check-in Skills, Arriving in Yunaris

The next day.

Rian Sinclair woke up early. Fiona Sinclair had already arrived at the villa, and after receiving permission, Auntie Alden came in to help Rian pack her luggage.

[This is a check-in location. Does the host choose to check in now?]

"Check in."

[Congratulations to the host for obtaining the Skill: Divine Doctor’s Holy Hand. This Skill can detect all diseases in the world. Possessing this Skill allows you to cure all complex and incurable diseases!]

[The required medicines may not necessarily exist in this world. The host will need to use this world’s medical knowledge to develop the required medicines, which will be time-consuming.]

[Friendly suggestion from the System: It is advised that the host uses this Skill as rarely as possible. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages. When you use this Skill to save everyone you wish to save, the karma of the world will quietly take effect. You, the host, will pay a corresponding price.]

Hearing this, Rian froze for a moment and raised her hand.

"Is it karma?" she wondered. "Does the System’s appearance trigger this karma? What will my ultimate fate be?" she thought.

"System, what is the final outcome?"

The System did not reply immediately. It pondered the Chief God’s intentions, because among the three thousand worlds, an interstellar product like itself logically shouldn’t have appeared on a planet like Blue Star.

"Why am I here?" it wondered.

It had considered this anomaly from the very beginning, assuming it was just a random occurrence. But it had forgotten that the law of karma existed in every star system, let alone on Blue Star, a world completely outside the System’s three thousand task worlds.

However, regarding the verification of this world—the final outcome...

[Peace and prosperity for the people.]

[Veridia will thrive and prosper.]

Rian curled her lips into a smile and said no more. This outcome was enough for her.

After breakfast, Rian sat on the sofa.

"What time is the flight?"

Hearing this, Fiona replied, "Nine o’clock sharp. We can leave as soon as we finish packing."

Zendar Airport, Yunaris.

Stepping out of the airport, they felt a trace of coolness in the air, a stark contrast to the sweltering heat of Argent.

Fiona had made arrangements well in advance. An off-road vehicle was parked outside the airport. After they got in, Aiden Sinclair took the passenger seat. The driver was a hired local who was highly familiar with the area and had excellent driving skills.

They had been driving for nearly an hour and a half since leaving the airport, yet they still hadn’t reached their destination. "How much longer?" Rian asked.

Fiona checked the navigation. "Miss, we are still three hours away by car. After that, we’ll need to hike for five hours into the mountains. We’ll save the hike for tomorrow. Once we reach the foot of the mountain, we’ll head to a pre-booked homestay to rest for the night and set off first thing in the morning."

Rian looked out the window at the scenery.

Unlike the bustling city of Argent with its towering skyscrapers, this area was filled with three- or four-story buildings and vast stretches of farmland planted with crops. Surrounded by trees and grassy fields, it offered the natural, leisurely vibe of returning to the countryside from the city.

They had landed around two in the afternoon, and it would be nearly eight o’clock by the time they reached the foot of the mountain. Hiking up at night was unsafe. What surprised Rian, however, was that she had expected the journey to take only a single day, yet a whole day had passed without her even catching a glimpse of their destination.

"Miss, we’re here."

Fiona’s voice sounded in her ear. Rian opened her eyes to see the sky slowly darkening. After getting out of the car, she was greeted by the sight of a bamboo-structured homestay.

"I apologize, Miss. According to my research, this is the only decent homestay in the vicinity."

Rian waved her hand dismissively. She was here to visit the people she was sponsoring anyway; if the area were full of high-rises, the economy wouldn’t be this underdeveloped. "Let’s go inside first."

The driver led the way, followed by Fiona. Aiden stayed right by Rian’s side to ensure her safety.

Inside the homestay.

After stepping forward to speak with the staff, the driver handed the keys to the three of them.

Upon entering, Rian quietly observed the layout. The entire homestay was three stories high. The first floor seemed to be a dining area filled with bamboo tables, several of which were occupied by dining guests.

The diners on the first floor were also discreetly scrutinizing the newcomers. Rian and the others noticed this immediately. Aiden silently shifted closer to Rian, blocking the probing gazes of the surrounding crowd.

Rian didn’t sense any malice from them, so she didn’t pay it much mind, though she knew they couldn’t completely let their guard down against sudden variables.

"Let’s head to our rooms first."

Fiona nodded, and the group headed upstairs.

Inside the room.

The three of them sat around a bamboo table. "Miss, we should avoid contact with that group downstairs," Fiona said. "It’s a bit strange. In the past, very few people stayed at this homestay. The daily occupancy rate in previous years rarely exceeded ten people, but right now, there are over thirty guests."

Rian tapped her fingertips lightly against the bamboo table as she listened to Fiona. She wondered what the purpose of this group suddenly gathering here was.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but they needed to be cautious.

After a moment of consideration, Rian said, "We just need to finish our own business. There’s no conflict of interest between us, so we shouldn’t clash with them. Still, act carefully."

Fiona and Aiden nodded. Fiona then gave a briefing on the sponsored individuals’ situation. They ended up talking quite late. By the time Rian washed up and got into bed, it was nearly one in the morning.

Not long after falling asleep, Rian was shaken awake by a slight tremor. She sat up in bed, thinking she had heard a faint, muffled booming sound.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. A knock came at the door, followed by Fiona’s voice. "Miss, there’s a torrential downpour outside. A small hill was washed away, and the roads are blocked. The temperature drops sharply at night, so there’s no need for you to come out."

Rian didn’t reply. She merely looked up at the window. Heavy rain battered against the glass, and occasional flashes of lightning illuminated the entire night sky.

Putting on her shoes, Rian walked over to the window and lifted the bottom of the curtain to look outside. The rain was pouring heavily, producing loud SPLATTERS as it smashed against the ground.

She pulled a nearby bamboo chair over and sat down, taking a cigarette from her backpack and lighting it.

[Host, the person outside hasn’t left yet.]

"Where did Fiona go?"

The person speaking outside the door was definitely not Fiona. Rian had explicitly told her last night that there was no need to come wake her up at night unless it was absolutely necessary.

[Fiona was woken up by the tremor and went out to check the situation outside. Aiden is on the first floor gathering information.]

[Host, the person outside has left. Aiden is coming upstairs.]

Rian poured a cup of hot tea from the pot on the table. Shortly after, she heard a series of knocks. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. Aiden’s voice followed. Rian opened the door. Aiden patted the cold air off his clothes, lingering outside for a moment to let the chill dissipate before stepping into the room.

"Miss," Aiden said, bowing slightly.

"Have a seat first. What’s the situation outside?" Rian asked. She glanced at her lit-up phone screen. It was only five in the morning. This was just as annoying as Ash Sinclair.

Waking people up from their sleep.

"A sudden torrential storm broke out tonight. The heavy rain caused a mudslide in the nearby mountains. Fortunately, there are no houses in the immediate vicinity, but I’m afraid this downpour won’t stop anytime soon."

Rian took a sip of her hot tea and frowned. "Has the rescue team arrived?"

Aiden checked the time. He nodded, then shook his head. "They are on their way, but they won’t reach us for a while. There are no casualties on our end; just blocked roads. However, there are casualties in other areas, and the rescue teams are currently conducting relief efforts over there."

Rian nodded. "Have Fiona coordinate locally to send some relief supplies over. If we arrange for Quentin to handle it, the supplies won’t arrive in time."

"Understood, Miss. We will make the arrangements immediately. It is still early; you should get some more sleep."
