Chapter 66: A Wolf Card Isn’t a God Card?
Chapter 66: Chapter 66: A Wolf Card Isn’t a God Card?
"I don’t get it. I’m the Lucky Seer, but I can’t get the Sheriff badge? If I hadn’t made a lucky guess and played mind games with her, betting she didn’t give out the Skills, wouldn’t Player 1 just be a werewolf? Let’s lock in our votes and vote out Player 5 today."
"Player 5, please speak."
"My underlying identity is the witch. Player 1 is my silver water, meaning I saved them. I’ll throw my poison at Player 6. Player 1, give your poison to Player 10, and Player 10 can poison Player 9."
"Player 4, please speak."
"Player 3, you call the vote. If you guys on the outside really don’t know who to vote for, just vote for me. I’m a villager. Don’t let the wolves exploit a loophole. If we push out a power role, there’s no point in playing anymore."
"Player 3, please speak."
"I think Player 4 is a good guy, but I want to vote out Player 4. Player 5, go poison Player 6. If Player 10 receives the Skills, poison Player 9. If there are three deaths, that means it’ll be among 6, 7, 9, and 11, so let’s call the vote on Player 4."
When it was Player 2’s turn to speak, they immediately passed. Rian Sinclair blindly guessed that they were the guard. Player 5 had already claimed a role. Player 12 better not play a deep cover strategy—just claim the witch outright.
"Player 1, please speak."
"No problem. I just need to tell you all that for the good guys, Players 6 and 9 will absolutely die tomorrow, and that’s it."
"Player 12, please speak."
"Player 5 is a werewolf. I am the real witch, and Player 11 is the one who took the knife last night. Is there any problem with voting out Player 5 today? You go shield Player 10 tomorrow, and just watch whether I can poison him through the shield, and that’ll be the end of it."
Player 11 passed.
"Player 10, please speak."
Player 10, Jason Rivers, was furious. "No, Player 12, do you just hate me that much? It’s not like I counter-claimed the witch against you. What’s the point of poisoning me? My face practically has ’giant scapegoat’ written all over it. Player 1, you’re the Miracle Merchant, so you’ll give the Skills to Player 3, right?"
Rian Sinclair scanned the entire board, assessing the situation. She thought, "Players 6, 7, 9, and 12 will vote for Player 5. Will Player 8 also vote for Player 5? Player 3 will vote for Player 4. It looks like the votes will be split, and Player 5 will get pushed out. So, Player 5 is definitely a goner."
Getting the witch killed during the day so they couldn’t even throw their poison—Rian Sinclair figured Wyatt Winslow would probably be furious to death.
"Players, please cast your banishment votes."
"Players 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 voted for Player 5. Players 1, 3, 4, and 5 voted for Player 4. Player 10 voted for Player 6. Players 2 and 11 abstained. Player 5 has been banished."
"Player 5, please leave your final words."
"I don’t want to curse out Player 10. Jason, you stinker, damn it, you split your vote to Player 6. Go to hell! Playing this round is making my heart ache. Oh man, I’m so pissed off."
...
"It is now night. Everyone, please close your eyes. Werewolves, open your eyes."
After that, Rian Sinclair heard Ulysses Shepherd howling, "That was too awesome! We literally pushed out the real witch!"
Rian Sinclair analyzed the current situation. "Player 2 is the guard. Don’t knife Player 2. Player 7, you claim to be the guard. Player 2 is the actual guard card."
Getting the witch voted out had given Ulysses Shepherd an immense boost of confidence. "Knife Player 3!"
Players 6 and 12 chose Player 3, Player 7 chose Player 11, and Player 9 chose Player 1.
"Werewolves, close your eyes."
...
"It is now day!"
The judge looked around. Finding that everyone was seated, they announced, "The players eliminated last night were Players 3 and 9. The game continues."
Rian Sinclair was helpless; she had been poisoned. Her ’Alpha Wolf’ role card didn’t allow her to take anyone down with her either, so she had to obediently keep her mouth shut and watch the rest of the show unfold.
"Player 6 self-destructs! Player 6, please begin your elimination speech."
Ulysses Shepherd looked calm, but his upturned lips betrayed his delight. "Good luck, good guys."
"It is now night. Please close your eyes."
...
"It is now day."
"Player 1 is eliminated. The game continues."
"Player 12 self-destructs! Player 12, please begin your elimination speech."
Player 12’s face was full of undisguised smiles. "The Alpha Wolf is the absolute GOAT!"
"It is now night. Please close your eyes."
...
"It is now day. Player 10 was eliminated last night and has no final words. The game continues."
"There is no Sheriff. We will start from the eliminated player and speak in reverse order. Player 8, please speak. Player 7, please prepare."
Player 8 looked completely bewildered at this moment. "I’m a villager card, okay? That’s it. Pass."
As the last remaining wolf on the werewolf team, the pressure was now on Player 7. "I’m the guard. Let’s vote out Player 8 first. Player 8 should be the last wolf. We win if we vote them out."
When it was Player 4’s turn to speak, he truly felt that this game of Werewolf was incredibly difficult. He was thoroughly confused. "Let’s hear Player 11 speak. I’ll follow your vote call, okay?"
When it was Player 11’s turn, he just threw his hands up. "I don’t know. You guys pick whoever. I’m completely baffled. The whole game is full of power roles, and I’m just a little villager, right? I abstain."
At this moment, the judge’s voice held a slight emotional fluctuation. "Players, please cast your banishment votes."
"Players 4 and 7 voted for Player 8. Player 8 voted for Player 11. Players 2 and 11 abstained. Player 8 has been banished. The game continues."
"It is now night. Please close your eyes."
...
"It is now day."
"Player 2 died last night and has no final words."
"The game is over. The Werewolf faction wins."
...
After the judge finished speaking, the entire room erupted in a chorus of curses. Wyatt Winslow’s voice was particularly prominent. "Who was it? Who called for all the werewolves to aggressively fake-claim power roles? Do you really not treat the good guys as human beings?"
Ulysses Shepherd laughed and draped an arm over Wyatt Winslow’s shoulder. "Little Red Hair, don’t be a sore loser."
Jason Rivers nudged Ulysses Shepherd with his elbow. "You brat, a win is a win, but your playstyle is really underhanded. Was this your idea?"
Ulysses Shepherd smiled, crossing his arms and shaking his head. "Of course this wasn’t my idea. I’ve gotta say, Rian’s brain is truly brilliant. The all-member aggressive fake-claim made this the most satisfying round I’ve ever played!"
Hearing this, Jason Rivers immediately swallowed the curse words that were about to leave his mouth. He laughed it off, saying, "So it was Rian! As expected of my Rian, coming up with such an excellent strategy! You completely played me like a fool!"
Wyatt Winslow shot Jason Rivers a sideways glance, his face full of sarcasm. "Simp! Keep simping until you have nothing left! Ulysses Shepherd, I should have thrown a bottle of poison at you back then. Damn it! I regret it!"
Rian Sinclair listened to their conversation from the side. This strategy required the power roles to be fake-claimed first, and they had to successfully push out a real power role. Otherwise, all four wolves would have sacrificed themselves for nothing, and the game’s perspective would become completely clear on the second day.
This kind of setup was highly mentally taxing, but it was the best strategy for the werewolf team. However, if anyone couldn’t keep up with the logic or slipped up in their speech, it would turn into a round where the wolves were instantly exposed and voted out.
Moreover, this round truly had the perfect alignment of timing, location, and human factors. It just so happened that the Miracle Merchant didn’t give out their Skills, and it just so happened that the good guys couldn’t gather enough votes to unify their targets. The werewolf team successfully gambled and won. A round like this was quite rare to come by.
Ulysses Shepherd shamelessly leaned in. "Rian, you’re amazing! You completely left the other side dumbfounded."
Wyatt Winslow was also full of praise now. "Just based on that playstyle of yours, I’ll definitely call you ’Rian’ with respect. You have to carry me in a game next time. A round where I can just lie back and win without ever needing to play a deep cover strategy is too satisfying."
Jason Rivers stood beside Rian Sinclair, strutting like a peacock spreading its tail feathers. "Did you see that? Did you see how strong my Rian is? She literally made the entire werewolf team take off! Rian not being on the good guys’ team is a massive loss for them!"
Rian Sinclair smiled and shook her head. "It was just luck. The people on the werewolf team played well too. It was all about mutual cooperation."
Jason Rivers couldn’t help but ask, "Rian, what kind of strategy was this? This is my first time encountering a game where it felt like everyone turned out to be a power role."
Rian Sinclair asked in return, "Are werewolf cards not power roles too?"
Wyatt Winslow looked completely baffled. "Hold on, Rian, how exactly are werewolf cards power roles?"
"Think about it. As a werewolf card, and an Alpha Wolf at that, aside from analyzing the situation on the board, you also have to provide support for your teammates. You have to eliminate all of you true power roles. Otherwise, the whole formation collapses."
Jason Rivers had a look of absolute submission on his face. "As expected of Rian!"
