The Rebate Tycoon: Spend on Him, Get Rich
Chapter 27: Looked Down Upon While Buying a Car
Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Looked Down Upon While Buying a Car
Yara Lane nodded in satisfaction at her husband’s words, showing off to the extreme. "Exactly. As the saying goes, a man’s greatest fear is choosing the wrong career, and a woman’s greatest fear is marrying the wrong man. For a woman, a good job isn’t what matters most; it’s marrying a good husband. The luckiest thing to happen to me in this life is being with you."
Yara smiled radiantly, waving her hand in front of Rian Sinclair and Donovan Sinclair to flash her one-plus-carat white gold diamond ring.
The man in sunglasses straightened his suit and said lazily, "Alright, Yara. Let’s not waste time chatting here. We have an appointment with the sales rep today to pay the deposit and pick up the car. We don’t want to be late."
Yara smiled and linked arms with her husband. "You’re right, I almost forgot we’re here to pay and pick up our car. Let’s not waste any more breath on her. We should hurry inside."
It was Donovan’s first time on Blue Star. He had never known such intellectually stunted creatures existed in this world. "Morons," he muttered slowly.
The couple, who were just about to leave, stopped in their tracks. The man in sunglasses pointed a trembling finger at Donovan in exasperation. "You brat, who are you insulting?! You look like a penniless beggar!"
Yara glared angrily at Donovan. "Who are you talking about?!"
Donovan casually smoothed his clothes. "Whoever answered. The two of you were standing here like a pair of machine guns, rattling off endless nonsense—RAT-A-TAT-TAT."
At first, Donovan had stood there patiently because he thought this was his young lady’s former classmate, but it turned out they were just two morons.
Rian found Donovan’s bluntness amusing, but he had a point. The couple had been bouncing off each other non-stop—she hadn’t been able to get a single word in edgewise while they spouted their bullshit.
Yara’s eyes reddened as she pointed at Donovan. "You... you... you!"
Rian looked at Yara, who was stuck sputtering "you." "You what? If you don’t know how to speak, go home and practice before coming out in public. People who know better would think you’re here to buy a car; people who don’t might think you’re putting on a slapstick comedy routine."
The sunglasses-wearing man was so furious his fat jiggled. Muttering curses under his breath, he grabbed Yara and dragged her into the dealership.
Donovan glanced at his lady. "Miss, do you need me to throw a sack over their heads and beat them up?"
Rian raised an eyebrow at Donovan. "You guys learned that out in the interstellar?" She shook her head. "Let’s just buy what we came for. Karma will take care of morons like that."
Donovan followed Rian into the Porsche dealership.
The Porsche showroom was spacious and opulently decorated. Though there were only a handful of customers browsing the cars, every single one of them was dressed in luxury.
The men wore designer watches on their wrists and dangled house and luxury car keys from their belts—a flashy style reminiscent of the older generation’s nouveau riche. The women carried LV, Gucci, or Dior bags, and were mostly dressed in Chanel or Valentino.
Unlike the BMW and Mercedes-Benz dealerships they had visited earlier, the sales representatives here were almost exclusively gorgeous women. Dressed in professional attire, they had curvaceous figures, fair skin, and wore warm, gentle smiles.
Porsche was one of the top luxury car brands, after all. The vehicles here easily cost several million to tens of millions. Moreover, the customers were primarily men, either buying for themselves or bringing along younger female relatives to browse.
Naturally, the dealership catered to their preferences by having beautiful saleswomen attend to them.
Because it was a gathering place for the wealthy, it also attracted people who couldn’t afford a car but wanted to window-shop or try their luck at hooking a rich partner.
Since Rian was heading to campus today, she was dressed as casually as could be—just a simple white T-shirt and knee-length shorts.
She was carrying a Hermès handbag she had grabbed at random from her walk-in closet. The man in sunglasses and Yara were walking just ahead of Rian.
Several saleswomen turned their gazes toward the entrance. Spotting the Hermès bag in Rian’s hand, they were momentarily stunned.
However, as their eyes swept over the rest of her outfit, they noticed her clothes weren’t from any recognizable designer brands—a stark contrast to the expensive Hermès. Subconsciously, they instantly wrote off the bag as a fake.
Hermès was incredibly popular, after all.
And with popularity came counterfeit bags everywhere.
The man beside her looked somewhat distinguished, but his clothes were unbranded, and he was far too young. The saleswomen immediately dismissed him as well.
In the eyes of the sales staff, Rian, dressed in cheap clothes and carrying a fake bag, was nothing more than a gold digger who couldn’t afford a luxury car and was only there to snag a sugar daddy.
"Hello, sir, ma’am. My name is Tina Lawson. It’s a pleasure to have you here. How may I help you today?"
A moderately attractive saleswoman walked over. Her gaze swept right past Rian and Donovan as she approached the man in sunglasses and Yara with a beaming smile.
Seeing this, Yara glanced at Rian and deliberately raised her voice. "We have an appointment to pay our deposit and pick up our car."
Upon hearing they were there to pick up a car, Tina’s smile grew even wider. "Please come this way! We’ll verify your details immediately. What would you like to drink? Coffee or hot tea?"
Rian observed the entire exchange clearly, noting how the saleswoman completely ignored her in favor of aggressively sucking up to the other couple.
She genuinely wondered how such a renowned brand could employ a bunch of snobs who looked down on people so blatantly.
Rian wasn’t about to swallow this insult. She thought, "The more you look down on me, the more I’m going to drop a fortune today. We’ll see who the real VIP is!"
So, she led Donovan away to check out the cars on her own.
The dealership had the Porsche Cayenne, 911, and Macan series all on display.
She had to admit...
Though their service attitude was absolute dog shit, the dealership itself was well-stocked.
Except for the ultra-rare models nearing a hundred million, almost everything else was available.
After browsing for a while, Rian took a liking to a glossy black Porsche 911 and a matte black Panamera. Their on-the-road prices were over seven million and over five million, respectively.
Rian turned to a nearby saleswoman. "Do you have the black 911 and the Panamera in stock? I’ll take them right now."
The saleswoman frowned. Hearing Rian’s request, she gave her a look of utter disgust. "Miss, the on-the-road price for those two cars combined is over ten million. Please don’t waste my time. Come back when you’ve found a sugar daddy old enough to be your father."
Hearing that disgusted tone, Rian almost laughed out of anger. She just wanted to buy a car—why was there always some idiot popping up to mock her?
What, did she have the word "pushover" written across her forehead?
Just then, sharp, ear-piercing shrieks came from Yara and the man in sunglasses nearby.
"Didn’t we call to confirm this a few days ago? We agreed this car was eight hundred and eighty thousand! How did it suddenly jump to a million?!"
"Exactly! A car that’s clearly in the eight hundred thousand range is now a million? Are you trying to rob us?" Yara’s face was livid, her voice much shriller than before.
Tina explained with an apologetic smile plastered across her face, "I’m so sorry, you two. The specific car you had your eye on was sold because no deposit was put down. However, this model not only has a better color but also higher specs. You really aren’t losing out by getting this one!"
"But this car costs an extra two hundred thousand! We had an agreement—a two hundred thousand down payment and the remaining six hundred and eighty thousand paid in installments over five years. Now you’re suddenly jacking up the price! How am I supposed to handle this? Two hundred thousand isn’t just a small hike!"
The man in sunglasses sounded frantic. He had already settled everything, only to be suddenly told the car was sold. He felt like this saleswoman was trying to scam him!
