The Rebate Tycoon: Spend on Him, Get Rich
Chapter 154 - 153: Nobody Move, Hands on Your Head
Chapter 154: Chapter 153: Nobody Move, Hands on Your Head
Rian Sinclair crossed her arms, looking at the man. "So you’re admitting that you colluded with the police to issue a fake settlement agreement?"
The man looked completely unbothered. "So what if I did? I paid the compensation, so this matter is over. In this world, money is king. There’s nothing money can’t solve."
He glanced at the adjacent ward, catching sight of a familiar figure. Pointing at the people inside, he let out a harsh laugh. "Those sluts. They had it coming for being out so late at night."
Hearing this, Rian honestly couldn’t fathom the mental state of someone who could utter such words. "You’re the scum of the earth. Pure trash."
The man reacted as if he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world. "So what if I’m scum? I have money! In this society, cash rules everything! I have a house in Kyoro, do you? I drive a million-dollar car, do you? You have nothing. You’re just a parasite! A total loser who will never be able to afford a place in Kyoro in your entire life!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the men around him immediately started kissing up to him. "Boss Morgan is right!"
"Exactly! Those whores were out in the middle of the night trying to seduce people. What’s the big deal if we cop a feel? Playing hard to get—they deserved a beating. Now look at them, bedridden."
"How about you sleep with us for a night, pretty lady? We’ll buy you a house."
"Yeah, gorgeous. What future do you have with this pretty boy beside you? You’d be better off following Boss Morgan."
Ronan Ford had clenched his fists the moment he heard their first insults. However, his strict discipline was deeply ingrained in his mind. Just as he was about to strike, soft fingertips pressed against his hand. "Don’t do it."
Rian knew the military’s regulations. Seeing Ronan’s reaction, she immediately intervened to stop him. Ultimately, Ronan released his tightly clenched fists.
The man scoffed, then turned and led his group away.
Once the man was out of sight, Rian spoke up. "Did you record it?"
"I recorded everything, Miss." A figure suddenly appeared beside her. It was Aiden Sinclair, and he handed over a phone.
Rian took the phone, glanced at the video, and a faint smile touched her lips.
She thought, "Money is king?" This was the first time she had heard such a claim. A house in Kyoro? She had plenty of those, let alone cars.
The man was incredibly narrow-minded, completely ignorant of the real world. Did he genuinely think he’d never cross paths with someone out of his league? Her wealth alone could crush a hundred of him.
Holding the phone, she looked up at Ronan. "I’m heading back to the police station. Want to come?"
Ronan nodded. "I didn’t expect this kind of blatant corruption right here in Kyoro. Judging by his words, the police station seems to be infested with parasites as well."
Aiden drove Rian to the station, while Ronan followed closely behind in his own car.
They parked at the entrance and walked into the precinct together. The female officer at the front desk was surprised to see them return. The only reason she remembered Rian and Ronan so clearly was because they were stunningly attractive and possessed a commanding presence that left a deep impression.
"Is there anything else you need?" the officer asked first.
Rian tapped her phone a few times and held up a photo. "I’d like to know who the officer in charge of this case last night was. I want to see him."
The female officer looked at the screen, a slight frown forming when she recognized the face. "You want to see Officer Morgan? Let me check for you."
With that, she picked up the phone. Rian caught the name—Morgan, just like the thug from the hospital.
Before long, a police officer with a thuggish demeanor swaggered over. "Lee, who’s looking for me?"
Lee gestured toward Rian. "This lady here."
Officer Morgan looked at Rian, their eyes locking. Recognizing the pair from earlier, he gave Lee a brief nod and led them away.
They were taken to a break room. Shortly after, several other officers filed in. Rian and Ronan merely cast them a fleeting glance before looking away.
Officer Morgan smiled and gestured for everyone to settle down. "Take a seat, everyone. It’s protocol—we can’t meet with the public alone."
Rian didn’t reply and simply found a seat. Ronan and Aiden sat beside her. She didn’t bother beating around the bush and cut straight to the chase. "They never issued a settlement agreement. How did you release the suspects?"
A flash of malice crossed Officer Morgan’s face, but it was quickly masked by a smile. "I’m not sure what you mean, miss. Are you questioning the police’s competence? Do you think we wouldn’t know whether or not a settlement agreement was issued?"
As Officer Morgan raised his voice, the other officers shot hostile glares at Rian’s trio. Leaning back in her chair and sensing the tense atmosphere, Rian smiled faintly. "Is this how officers usually meet with the public?"
Officer Morgan chuckled but made no move to stop his colleagues. Their intimidation tactics couldn’t have been more obvious.
Ronan noticed it too, his brow deeply furrowed. He couldn’t believe someone would be so brazen right under the capital’s nose, making no effort whatsoever to hide their corruption.
"You must be joking, miss. Since the victims have already issued a settlement agreement, the case is closed. Please refrain from questioning our competence. We communicated with them directly and obtained their statements. Since you’re unrelated to the victims, you can leave now."
Upon hearing this, Rian played the video. A familiar male voice echoed through the room. When the recording finished, she looked at Officer Morgan. His previously arrogant expression had vanished, replaced by a speechless grimace.
The moment Officer Morgan heard his nephew’s voice, he knew the idiot had been showing off again and had handed someone leverage on a silver platter. His gaze turned venomous as he stared at Rian. "Miss, this video is critical evidence. Please hand it over to us. Since it wouldn’t be appropriate to make this public, you must delete your copy after turning it in. Please cooperate with the police."
Following his cue, the other seated officers stood up and began closing in on Rian’s group.
Rian watched them with a cold expression, wondering what kind of stunt they thought they were pulling.
Ronan observed them closing in. Were they planning to steal the phone, frame them for some baseless crime, and throw them in lockup?
"Is this how the police treat the public? You’re acting like a bunch of street thugs! Where is your chief?!"
Officer Morgan burst into loud laughter at Ronan’s words. "You want to see our chief? The chief is my brother-in-law. So what if you call him down here? I suggest you hand over that video right now. Otherwise..."
He let the threat hang in the air, but the implication was unmistakably clear. It was a naked threat, something no true police officer would ever resort to.
Rian watched the uniformed men approaching. She calmly picked up her phone from the table, locked the screen, and slipped it into her pocket.
Seeing this, Officer Morgan’s smile vanished. His gaze grew darker. "This woman is disrupting public order. Arrest her according to the law."
As soon as he gave the order, the pack of beasts in uniform lunged forward to make the arrest.
Ronan immediately stood up and pulled out his badge. "Nobody move! Hands on your heads and get down on the ground!"
