Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Where Is My Unmatched, High-and-Mighty Spencer Pierce?

The woman’s face was somewhat unrealistically blurred under the sunlight. Hearing her words, he just shook his head slightly. "Skill still can’t beat the vehicle’s intrinsic performance."

Rian Sinclair smiled and patted his car. "You’ve modified your car very well, but sometimes you can let go of certain things."

Her words were vague, but he understood. For instance, the car body. No matter what, the body of a Ford Transit could never compare to that of a supercar. Supercars had low drag and excellent aerodynamics.

But he just shook his head slightly. "Even if we drove the same car, I still wouldn’t be able to beat you."

Rian didn’t reply. She was indeed a cut above, which was undeniable, but that didn’t mean Spencer Pierce’s driving skills were lacking. If only he could make some changes.

Rian didn’t communicate with Spencer anymore after that and turned to leave. She had merely encountered a fairly capable opponent. Understanding him didn’t mean she had to be his savior. Playing savior wasn’t in her job description.

On the other side, Jason Rivers and the others gathered around.

"Rian, you really scared me to death with that overtaking maneuver. It was like you completely disregarded life and death and only cared about winning." Jason was genuinely worried; his palms were still sweaty even now.

Seeing this, Evan Rivers couldn’t help but laugh. "I was the one being overtaken, and I’m not even scared yet, but here you are, shaking in your boots."

Jason ignored Evan. He couldn’t bear to watch a situation like that a second time; that kind of adrenaline spike actually made him feel physically uncomfortable.

Hearing this, Rian just smiled and repeated her usual line. "Relax, I value my life very much."

Ulysses Shepherd stood to the side, confused. His line of sight had been completely blocked, so he hadn’t seen what happened up ahead. But considering that Jason had hit the brakes hard on the track, he knew it must have been serious. He looked at her with some concern.

Rian just smiled and shook her head, indicating it was nothing.

Wyatt Winslow rolled his eyes hard at them from the side. "You two had your fun, but if something had happened, I wouldn’t have been able to afford the compensation."

It was supposed to be safety first, competition second. But once they got on the track, it turned into caring only about the rankings. This massive shift left him truly dumbfounded. These two really acted like lords—they got all the thrills, leaving him to bear all the stress and terror. Even though Rian’s overtaking maneuver was admittedly pretty badass, he never wanted to see it again.

He was genuinely terrified that if Evan got hurt, the Rivers would come and shut down his venue. Where would he go to cry then? He had spent a long time setting up this extreme sports track. If it got shut down, he might never be able to build another one for himself to play on.

Meanwhile, over in the spectator stands.

"Holy shit, the Devel Sixteen is king! The Transit and the Lykan were going back and forth, but now the Sixteen has completely smoked them. It’s too fucking awesome—a five-hundred-million car just hits different!"

"The speed of that Devel Sixteen is absolutely insane! It’s so badass! Combine that with the gorgeous girl’s driving skills, and it’s mind-blowing!"

"The gorgeous girl is simply unmatched! No one can object if I call her the shining star of Blue Star, right? She’s literally the perfect, all-around woman, bar none!"

"Going at that speed is practically dancing with death. She’s too powerful, simply too powerful!"

"What kind of monster is she?!"

Countless people in the stands buzzed with discussion, their exclamations of awe rising and falling in waves. Watching that god-like silhouette of a car on the track, everyone was so shaken that their minds couldn’t calm down for a long time. They were all deeply, thoroughly captivated by her. Such speed and driving skills were on par with—if not better than—those of international professional racers. After all, this track mostly consisted of curves with very few straightaways, so it relied entirely on sheer driving skill. It was all about whether one could maintain speed through the corners.

As the race concluded, someone in the stands started cheering. Suddenly, everyone roared in unison, their voices forming waves that drowned out everything else.

"Champion! Champion!"

"God of Racing! God of Racing!"

"Sister, you were so freaking cool!"

Their cheers echoed to the clouds, virtually resounding throughout the entire arena.

From taking an early lead thanks to her vehicle’s performance, to what everyone thought was just an average run, and finally overtaking multiple cars in a row to leave everyone in the dust... those who initially hadn’t thought much of the beautiful racer were now singing her praises in hindsight, one after another.

Many girls looked at the glory Rian was receiving and the outstanding men surrounding her, feeling a twinge of jealousy. But they all knew they couldn’t compare to her. Rich young heirs like Wyatt Winslow wouldn’t hang out with just a pretty face. Rian naturally had qualities that drew them in.

She was dazzling. Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, she accepted the glory that rightfully belonged to her.

Rian responded to her friends’ concerns, assuring them she only pulled off such a maneuver because she was confident in it.

However...

Looking at their reactions, it seemed her friends still couldn’t quite accept it.

"Your driving skills are incredible."

A deep male voice suddenly sounded by her ear. Rian turned her head and met Spencer Pierce’s gaze. Right after, she heard the system’s notification chiming an increase in affection points.

"Thanks. You’re not bad yourself."

Wyatt was a bit confused when he saw Spencer walking over, but hearing his compliment left him utterly bewildered. His face was a mask of sheer disbelief. "Hold on, where is my proudly confident, incredibly arrogant, overbearing, and supercilious Spencer Pierce? Did you eat him? You actually know how to fucking compliment someone?"

He had kept Spencer around entirely because he cherished talent. Plus, the man’s driving skills and character were genuinely good. So, even though Wyatt had suffered some petty grievances from him, it was no big deal. But he had never once enjoyed the luxury of hearing a compliment from him until now.

Spencer just cast a fleeting glance at Wyatt and said nothing, leaving Wyatt feeling as if he had punched a pile of cotton. "Sorry, President Winslow. I didn’t notice you were there."

Spencer’s words nearly detonated Wyatt, who was already a powder keg. Seeing this, Jason and Ulysses hurriedly grabbed hold of Wyatt, terrified the punk might grab a knife and start hacking.

Ulysses pulled him back while trying to soothe him. "Winslow the Second, calm down, calm down! This bastard practically saved your life once."

Rian listened from the side with some surprise. Evan leaned in and explained, "When Wyatt was studying abroad, he was young and hot-blooded. He raced someone, and it was a race for his life.

"It was a best-of-five series, and he lost the first two rounds. Spencer stepped in and won the rest, coming back from a two-zero deficit to take the victory."

Hearing this, Rian couldn’t help but be astonished. "His family let him participate in that kind of wager?"

Evan leaned against his supercar in a lazy posture. "Not all families are as peaceful as they seem now."

Rian didn’t ask further. Family disputes had existed for thousands of years, let alone now.

Under Ulysses’s persuasion, the fire in Wyatt’s heart finally died down, though he still found Spencer completely an eyesore. "You can leave now. I’ll call you when there’s another race."

Spencer didn’t say much more, taking the other two professional racers and leaving the arena.

Wyatt stared at Spencer’s taillights and kicked a small pebble on the ground. "Fuck!"

Jason coughed lightly and nudged Wyatt with his elbow. The redhead looked up and cursed impatiently. Hearing this, Ulysses slammed his shoulder heavily into him.

The bump sent Wyatt stumbling. He turned around, ready to swear, only to see Ruby Forrest looking like a startled fawn.

He abruptly suppressed his hostility, looked around uncomfortably, then put his right fist to his mouth and let out a light cough. "Ruby, when did you get here?"
