Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Hold the Surgery, I’m Going to Watch the Bombing
The live chat exploded as comments scrolled past at a manic pace. Viewership skyrocketed, hitting an unbelievable number.
But just as it broke the seventy-million mark, the stream suddenly went black.
On the other end, Rian Sinclair watched helplessly as the Sharkstream app on her phone forcefully crashed. Staring at her familiar home screen, she knew the app had buckled under the immense traffic yet again. She fell silent for a moment. She could almost feel the sheer rage of the Sharkstream technicians radiating through the internet. After all, the last time she single-handedly crashed the servers, the platform’s official team had sent her some very "friendly" greetings.
After waiting a bit, Rian tapped into TikTok instead. The livestream instantly lit up. She stared at the face appearing on the screen, paused for a second, and then shifted the phone slightly away.
[WTF?]
[Holy crap! Who is that?! Miss Innocent? Is that Miss Innocent?!]
[Mom, it’s Miss Innocent!]
[I was just cursing this garbage app, but now this garbage app is my god! I love this sudden crash!]
[My God, Miss Innocent, how can you be so beautiful?!]
[One look at Miss Innocent’s face and I’m pregnant!]
[Waah, so pretty, so pretty! The camera is right in her face from a total death angle, and it doesn’t affect her beauty at all!]
[Miss Innocent was meticulously sculpted by Gaia, while the rest of us are just smelly mud drops she carelessly flicked off her fingers.]
[When is Miss Innocent getting married?]
[Miss Innocent, you should just debut as an idol! You get a vote, I get a vote, and Miss Innocent debuts tomorrow!]
[To the commenter above, how dare you? Look at her status versus yours! The Innocent Heiress could debut if she wanted to, but is there even a need?]
[Can you believe it? Making a billionaire heiress sing and dance for us? We don’t have the right!]
[Is the commenter above also going to ask her to play basketball? (Funny.jpg)]
[Holy crap! The haters are everywhere! Always looking for an opening!]
[Waah, I was so wrong. I thought Miss Innocent was some middle-aged auntie, but she’s actually as beautiful as a flower!]
[Miss Innocent is rich and gorgeous! You couldn’t find a good girl like her even if you searched the world with a spotlight!]
[Turns out the gap between Miss Innocent and me isn’t just a little bit of money! We’re worlds apart!]
Rian was a bit caught off guard by the sudden face reveal, but it wasn’t a big deal.
Watching the live chat, she noticed the stream was still lagging slightly. She turned the camera toward Quentin Sinclair and explained to her audience. "You guys guessed right. We are here today to blow up that cursed Shrine."
Her words might have sounded a bit dramatic, but they were blowing up the islanders’ cursed Shrine! That was an incredibly badass and explosive move! The viewers in the livestream immediately began showering her with praises.
Rian saw Quentin walking toward her. "Have they figured out which third they’re letting me blow up yet?"
Quentin nodded. "The northwest section."
Rian was slightly surprised that the other party had capitulated so easily. She had fully expected them to resort to armed force and had prepared numerous countermeasures, yet she didn’t get to use a single one. These people really were cowards.
She instructed the subordinates behind her, "Go measure it carefully. Don’t take an inch more than we’re owed, and don’t accept an inch less."
Upon hearing the order, the men quickly led their hidden operatives through the crowd to measure out the designated land. Rian leaned back in her chair, observing the group of islanders whose glares suggested they wanted nothing more than to murder her on the spot.
A faint smirk touched Rian’s lips. "Next up, I’ll take you all for a close-up view of the Shrine’s demolition."
The livestream immediately erupted into a frenzy of excited screeches.
[Awoooo! I’m currently on the island. I’m heading there right now! Wait for my good news, bros!]
[The Shrine hasn’t been cordoned off yet! It’s still open to the public, so I’m going to watch the explosion in person!]
[School is suspended; I’m joining the demolition!]
[I’m so incredibly jealous of those who get to watch it live! Not only do they get a front-row seat to the Shrine blowing up, but they also get to see Miss Innocent’s peerless beauty! I won’t say who’s green with envy, but it’s me!]
[Work is paused; I’m joining the demolition!]
[I told my grandpa that The Innocent Heiress is livestreaming the demolition of the Shrine. Now my entire family is gathered around watching it together.]
[Holy crap! So it’s not just me! My aunts and relatives originally came over to ask about my college entrance exams, but now they’re all glued to their phones watching Miss Innocent’s stream!]
[Surgery is paused; I’m joining the demolition!]
[This is the first time the older generation and I share the exact same interest!]
[I’m crying, guys! My family was grilling me about my exams, but the moment I mentioned Miss Innocent blowing up the Shrine, they completely forgot about me.]
[Waah, my grandpa used to tell me about the bitter days of the past. When he heard the Shrine was being blown up, he actually burst into tears.]
[Same with my grandma! She said her mother barely survived the islanders’ invasion. Her great-grandmother said that era left a lifelong shadow over her!]
[There’s no such thing as a peaceful era; it’s just that someone else is carrying the heavy burden forward for us!]
[Miss Innocent, if you blow up that Shrine, I’ll be your fan for life!]
[Blow up the Shrine!]
[Looking at the expressions of those islanders makes me want to laugh! They look so furious but don’t dare say a word! They just have to bottle it up while Miss Innocent tramples all over them!]
[Waah! Miss Innocent is way too cool! I’m going to fly her banner high!]
[I just thought about the ancestors we lost during the Nanjing Massacre. How desperate they must have felt back then!]
[They had cannons and we had muskets, but we still beat the living daylights out of those islanders!]
[I swear an eternal vendetta against those islanders for the rest of my life!]
[Rise up, The Innocent Heiress!]
[If Miss Innocent actually pulls this off, I’ll literally build a shrine for her!]
Looking at the netizens’ impassioned comments, the slumbering dragon within her own heart was fully awakened. As she watched them vent their deep-seated fury, she spoke up, "This is solely my personal action. Please don’t elevate it to a national level."
She didn’t want Veridia to take the blame because of her identity.
This entire operation was a completely spontaneous, individual action. Seeing this, Quentin stepped into the frame and held up the land transfer contract for the millions of viewers to examine.
Rian chatted casually with the netizens while waiting for Aiden Sinclair and his team to finish their measurements. Quentin stood silently by her side. Occasionally, representatives would come forward to negotiate with her.
"Miss Sinclair, how about we just let this go?" one of them urged. "After all, Veridia is known as a great, peaceful nation. If you proceed with this, the country backing you will face international condemnation."
Rian raised her eyes and looked at the man. Her red lips parted slightly. "Sir, if you keep spreading rumors, I’ll drag you straight to the International Court of Justice. Veridia is indeed a great, peaceful nation, but my actions here have absolutely nothing to do with Veridia. What’s wrong? Could you not read the contract my special assistant showed you earlier?"
With that, she snatched the document from Quentin’s hands and shoved it right into the man’s face. "It’s stamped with a private seal and signed under my personal name. The flow of funds is completely traceable. Do I need to invite the boss of The Undercity or the Brown Family over to verify it for you?"
Rian had no idea if the other party knew that the boss of The Undercity was also the heir to the Brown Family. But considering it was information that even Quentin hadn’t been able to dig up, it was highly likely they were clueless as well.
As for why she didn’t just mention the Brown Family alone? She simply felt that dropping two massive, intimidating backgrounds made her sound significantly more badass.
Rian’s gaze remained unbothered. They were trying to bait her into an international incident, weren’t they? Well, she wasn’t an idiot. There was no way she would fall for his trap. They were all thousand-year-old foxes playing the same game—there was no point in spinning fairy tales.
