Chapter 213: Time Management Master: Gu Shengsheng

"But I really hit the jackpot with this one. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime find. There are at least fifty tons of gold ore here."

Gu Shengsheng circled the area, then began frantically taking measurements with an instrument the experts couldn’t understand.

The incident was so major that it made the news first thing in the morning.

When Lu Shijing woke up and heard that Gu Shengsheng had knocked him unconscious the night before, he almost fainted again from sheer anger.

When he asked Lin Kai where she was, Lin Kai just hemmed and hawed, saying he didn’t know. Lu Shijing was immediately worried sick.

He rushed out to find her, only to see the news about her phone being tossed away by a thug last night.

He grew even more frantic.

He wasn’t even halfway to the convenience store when he saw more news: a woman had discovered a gold mine in the woods near Graveyard Hill.

Just then, he got a call from Lin Kai. "Boss, after the Young Madam took you home last night, she went and did another good deed by sending the thug to the station. Then she went back to the spot you were digging at yesterday to investigate and ended up working all night to unearth a gold mine."

"She’s a true master of time management," Lin Kai couldn’t help but admire.

After all his years as an employee, he’d never had that kind of work ethic!

The Young Madam was in a league of her own; she was just too intense.

Celebrities spend hundreds of thousands, even millions, a month to buy their way onto the trending list. But in one night, she was involved in three major incidents that took over the top twenty spots on the social media trending charts.

And on top of all that, she was still up on the mountain, all dusty and grimy.

First thing this morning, she had even done two back-to-back interviews about the gold mine. Now, people from the Gemstone Administration Bureau were there to inspect it, and Zhao Dehai and his colleagues from the Cultural Relics Administration had tagged along. Gu Shengsheng probably wouldn’t be getting away anytime soon.

After hearing all this, Lu Shijing’s heart ached for her.

’She’s just too busy... How can her body handle this if she keeps going at this rate?’

After some thought, he decided to bring her some warm milk and a small cake, figuring she must be hungry by now.

Lu Shijing rushed over in his car, and sure enough, he saw Gu Shengsheng accompanying two men in tunic suits.

One of them was Zhao Dehai.

Lu Shijing spotted Zhao Dehai first. ’Isn’t this the perfect chance to go say a proper hello?’

So, carrying the breakfast and a pink knit cardigan Gu Shengsheng had left in his car, he walked up to the three of them.

He didn’t speak or greet them. He just stared.

Gu Shengsheng was unfazed; she was too tired and irritable at this point.

Zhao Dehai, feeling guilty, looked at him. "You kid, here to pick up your wife!"

Zhao Dehai then pulled over Mr. Ma Yaowen from the Gemstone Administration Bureau. "Old Ma, this is Shengsheng’s husband, Shi Jing. You watched Shi Jing grow up too, remember!"

"Back then, we were all good friends with his grandfather, HA HA HA."

As Zhao Dehai laughed, Lu Shijing took a long stride to Gu Shengsheng’s side, standing so close they were almost touching, and forcibly draped the cardigan over her shoulders.

Gu Shengsheng: "...I’m not cold." She tried to pull it off.

Lu Shijing remained firm. "It’s cold in the morning and cold at night. What if you catch a cold?"

She couldn’t be bothered to argue, so she said nothing more.

’Zhao Dehai still felt guilty, but that wouldn’t stop him from enjoying the drama. Now that everyone’s identities are out in the open, I’ll just pretend I don’t know about what happened before. I said nothing, I did nothing, and if anyone asks, I know nothing. Yes, that’s the way.’

"Shengsheng and Shi Jing get along so well! Such a perfect couple!"

Gu Shengsheng spoke first. "We’re planning to get a divorce, Mr. Zhao, Mr. Ma."

"We’re not compatible anyway, so there’s no point in forcing it."

Acting as if he couldn’t hear her, like he had mentally blocked her out, Lu Shijing looked at Zhao Dehai. "Uncle Zhao, I must thank you for taking care of Shengsheng and me. Thanks for all your help."

Zhao Dehai was sweating bullets! Anyone could tell Lu Shijing was deliberately calling him out!

He gave an awkward laugh, no longer daring to watch the drama, and pulled Ma Yaowen away.

"We’ll get going now! You two can sort things out yourselves. We won’t disturb you."

After they left, Gu Shengsheng yawned. "How is it that you show up and immediately scare Uncle Zhao away?"

"He deserved it." Lu Shijing’s expression was dark, making him look like anything but a good person.

"Have you signed the papers yet?" Gu Shengsheng asked casually.

Lu Shijing put on an innocent look. "No."

Gu Shengsheng: "..."

"You know, I just came back to life. I’m in the middle of re-registering my residency, so I can’t go through with the official process right now." He sounded utterly helpless.

Gu Shengsheng found this a little hard to believe. ’A man like him can’t get the process done?’ She’d heard that domineering CEOs were the type who could get the Civil Affairs Bureau to open up for them even on a day off.

Still, there was nothing she could say.

She nodded. "Mm. Well, do it as soon as you can. Let me know when you have."

"I’m moving to the courtyard house tomorrow. After that, you can move wherever you want," Gu Shengsheng stated, laying out her plans.

Lu Shijing, however, was racking his brain. ’How can I subtly get closer to her?’

His face showed no emotion as he handed her the breakfast. "Okay. I’ll take you back."

Gu Shengsheng took the breakfast. She was indeed hungry, so she didn’t stand on ceremony and polished it off in a few bites.

It was fine outside where there was plenty of space, but once inside Lu Shijing’s car, she felt completely ill at ease.

The atmosphere felt strange.

After a moment of thought, Lu Shijing said, "I just took over the Lu Group. For the sake of stock market stability, an unstable marital status could be used against me. So, let’s not say anything about our situation for now." It was the only stalling tactic he could think of.

"Is that okay?"

Gu Shengsheng had never seen the man speak so politely, and he had laid out a long, coherent, and objective reason.

Besides, she knew Lu Shijing; he would never ask for help unless he was in real trouble. She nodded. "Okay."

"I mentioned it once during my livestream last night. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?"

From an angle where she couldn’t see, Lu Shijing could no longer suppress the smile creeping onto his lips.

Then he said, "It’s fine. The PR department will handle it."

After dropping Gu Shengsheng off, he maintained a friendly distance, not saying or doing too much. Everything was just right. Then, he left for work.

This made it difficult for Gu Shengsheng to say what she’d been planning to. She had originally wanted to tell him they shouldn’t see each other anymore, because there was no need.

’But he’s been so careful today. If I say that now, wouldn’t I be pushing it?’

In the end, she decided to just drop it.

’Since when did I start making so many concessions for Lu Shijing?’

When she snapped out of her thoughts, she found several suitcases piled up in the room.

Grandma Lu said, "Hurry up and pack. We’re all moving to your courtyard house with you. We’ll let that stinky brat live here by himself."

Lu Linlin was in her pajamas, clearly having been dragged out of bed by her grandma.

She rubbed her eyes, her voice hoarse. "Sister-in-law. You’ve gone viral online."
