The Real Heiress Has an Appraisal System
Chapter 210: Hilarious! President Lu Was Not Only Princess-Carried, but Also Knocked Out by a Single Palm Chop
Lu Shijing stared at the message for a long time. The alcohol in his glass suddenly seemed much more bitter.
Jin Ran leaned over and said, "Your Shengsheng is coming to pick you up? What’s this? It’s only your first day out and someone’s already coming to get you."
Lu Shijing shot him a glare and didn’t say a word, silently staring at the message.
Then he downed half a bottle of liquor by himself.
Jin Ran saw this wasn’t going to work. "What’s the point of drinking your sorrows away like this?" he said. "How about I find some pretty girls to join us later? When Gu Shengsheng sees them, she’ll get jealous. Maybe then she’ll finally understand how you feel."
"Get lost." Lu Shijing’s meaning was simple and clear.
He had no desire to listen to Jin Ran’s terrible ideas. Besides, other than Shengsheng, he wouldn’t even talk to those kinds of random people.
’Instead of this...’ Lu Shijing thought, ’it might be better to just drink more until I’m black-out drunk. Maybe then I can crash at her place for another night.’
With that thought, he started chugging his drink again.
When Gu Shengsheng, Lin Kai, and Lu Linlin arrived,
they saw Lu Shijing clutching a bottle of brandy and pouring it straight into his mouth.
Lu Linlin couldn’t help but give a thumbs-up. "That’s my brother, all right. I’ve been clubbing for years and I could never do that. My brother’s a total beast!"
Lin Kai sighed in exasperation. ’The young miss’s priorities are always so strange,’ he thought. ’Isn’t she worried about the boss’s health right now?’
’How can his own family not be worried about him? Sigh... even a working stiff like me is starting to feel bad for the big boss.’
The three of them quickly made their way through the crowd to the bar.
Jin Ran met Gu Shengsheng’s gaze and felt inexplicably guilty.
He greeted her awkwardly, "Uh, sister-in-law. It wasn’t me who dragged Lu Shijing out to fool around, he’s the one who brought me here."
"I definitely had no intention of being a bad influence on him."
Gu Shengsheng didn’t pay much attention to his explanation. "I’m not your sister-in-law," she clarified.
"Okay, sister-in-law," Jin Ran said, still smiling.
Gu Shengsheng walked over to Lu Shijing, who was slumped over the bar. His cheeks were slightly flushed, which made the cinnabar mole on the tip of his nose even more distinct.
His thin lips were faintly red, and he appeared to have already passed out.
She frowned. "Lin Kai, you can take him home."
"Lin Kai?"
Jin Ran chuckled. "Linnin just ran off to go wild in a private room, so I had Lin Kai follow her."
"Sister-in-law, how about I help you take him home?" Jin Ran offered eagerly.
Gu Shengsheng said, "...You’re the one who brought him here. If I leave, won’t you just let him keep drinking?"
Jin Ran replied, "Haha, that was the plan."
"Forget it. I’ll take him with me."
As he spoke, Jin Ran was about to call a waiter to help her carry Lu Shijing out. After all, Lu Shijing was a big guy, and Gu Shengsheng, by comparison, was far too petite to carry him on her own.
But when he turned around, he saw that Gu Shengsheng had already lifted the man up in a princess carry.
Jin Ran: "..."
The surrounding bartenders: "..."
Lu Shijing, who was pretending to be asleep: "..."
The silence at that moment was deafening. Gu Shengsheng, however, carried him out with ease. As for Jin Ran, he snapped several photos and posted them to his Moments.
’Oh my god, this is hilarious! This is the most embarrassing moment of Lu Shijing’s life, and so many people saw it.’
Gu Shengsheng carried Lu Shijing to the car and tossed him into the back seat. She sat next to him, while the designated driver Lin Kai had found sat up front.
Lu Shijing was already tall, so Gu Shengsheng sat pressed against the door to avoid contact with him. But to her surprise, he leaned right over.
His head came to rest on Gu Shengsheng’s shoulder.
Before Lu Shijing could even feel a secret thrill, Gu Shengsheng shoved him away.
Lu Shijing’s head hit the window on the other side with a dull thud.
Then he pretended to wake up in a daze, rubbing his head.
He looked at Gu Shengsheng. "Shengsheng..."
"I don’t want a divorce." As he spoke, his eyes were filled with deep affection, and they even looked a little moist.
Gu Shengsheng said, "Well, I do."
"I’ll be good to you from now on. I love you... Shengsheng, don’t push me away anymore." As he said this, his hand had already grabbed Gu Shengsheng’s wrist.
He stubbornly refused to let go and even turned the tables on her. "See? You’re holding onto me. How can you say you want a divorce?"
Gu Shengsheng: "..." ’Are all drunks this unreasonable?’
While she was still stunned, Lu Shijing’s exquisitely handsome face leaned in again.
She watched as the magnified version of his face got closer and closer... Gu Shengsheng felt a warmth creep up her ears.
His breathing was ragged, and his hot breath ghosted across her neck, making her flinch.
The cool, fresh scent he carried was even more noticeable now.
"Shengsheng, Shengsheng, Shengsheng."
Gu Shengsheng held her breath, watching as his breathing grew heavier and his lips were about to press against hers.
With a single karate chop, she struck the back of Lu Shijing’s neck!
This time, Lu Shijing was knocked out completely. Gu Shengsheng quickly opened the window for some air.
Then she slid open the partition and said to the driver, "Sir, please take this man back to Wanliu District. I’ll input the address into the navigation for you."
"I’ll just get out here."
The designated driver nodded, then asked in confusion, "The cemetery is just a short walk from here. Aren’t you scared, young lady, out here so late at night?"
Gu Shengsheng replied, "I’m not scared. I’m just going over there to cool my head."
Then she scrambled out of the car as if fleeing for her life, as though the man inside were some kind of monster.
’Maybe it’s just because it’s nighttime that everyone gets worked up so easily,’ she thought. ’So, I’ll just go over there and dig for a bit. That should clear my head.’
All by herself, Gu Shengsheng took out her "girly night-shift mini-flashlight"—the kind that could illuminate a ten-kilometer radius—and headed toward the small woods in front of the graves.
When she got there, she saw the hole that Lu Shijing had dug. He had dug quite deep.
’Could it be that he was back here digging all by himself for a long time that night?’
Gu Shengsheng pushed the thought of him aside. ’Well, I’ll just split it with him fifty-fifty when the time comes.’
She got back to work. With her flashlight on, she wasn’t scared at all. She used her metal detector and, sure enough, found that the signal was much stronger.
But after digging for half an hour, she realized it was too inefficient. She decided to just get an excavator to check it out.
So, Gu Shengsheng contacted the operator she knew well—the one who had dug up Lu Chaoyang’s house at the siheyuan.
The operator happened to still be out on a road repair job, so he agreed to come over. He said he’d arrive in half an hour.
With time to kill and nothing to do, Gu Shengsheng decided to start a livestream.
She thought only a few people would be watching, but it turned out to be a full house of night owls.
"Host, Host, we’ve been waiting for you to go live again!"
"Host, where are you in the middle of the night? It looks like your husband is alive..."
"Yeah! We saw the video of that epic confession! Oh my god, I could die from the romance. So your husband isn’t dead, and he’s the president of such a huge company! Host, you’re one of the rich and powerful now too."
"Host, why is it so dark where you are?"
"..."
Gu Shengsheng looked at the bullet comments. Many of them were asking about her and Lu Shijing.
She didn’t avoid the topic. "Lu Shijing is indeed back," she said.
